Recognition of emotions in Czech texts
Červenec, Radek ; Smékal, Zdeněk (referee) ; Burget, Radim (advisor)
With advances in information and communication technologies over the past few years, the amount of information stored in the form of electronic text documents has been rapidly growing. Since the human abilities to effectively process and analyze large amounts of information are limited, there is an increasing demand for tools enabling to automatically analyze these documents and benefit from their emotional content. These kinds of systems have extensive applications. The purpose of this work is to design and implement a system for identifying expression of emotions in Czech texts. The proposed system is based mainly on machine learning methods and therefore design and creation of a training set is described as well. The training set is eventually utilized to create a model of classifier using the SVM. For the purpose of improving classification results, additional components were integrated into the system, such as lexical database, lemmatizer or derived keyword dictionary. The thesis also presents results of text documents classification into defined emotion classes and evaluates various approaches to categorization.

Gustav Mahler vocal -symphonic works from point of view of performer
Zedník, Josef ; Hajóssyová, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Jonášová, Jana (referee)
This work summarizes the vocal-symphonic works of Gustav Mahler and it gives the basis for a future Master´s thesis. To understand the depth of the Master´s music, insight into his work and to take adequate grasp is needed to be account the topic more generally. Such a requirement can be achieved only if the account of Mahler not only the work itself, but if we learn more broadly about the composer´s life, family situation and the contemporary reality that together act on his musical language. Only through such a review is to highlight possible cardinality of Mahler´s musical legacy. The goal of this work is to acquaint the reader with the life of this worlds´s genius, to streamline the implementation of the works of the Prague Philharmonic Choir, the state works with emphasis on the Song of the Earth and dealt with on my own not only solo experience with the music of Gustav Mahler.

ETL process optimization
Žák, Vítězslav ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Maryška, Miloš (referee)
At a certain point of its life cycle, each data warehouse gets into a state in which the length of the ETL processing starts slowly approaching the acceptable limit. Even the slightest lapse means a hardly erasable time lag and the data supplies to users are increasingly delayed. Before the situation becomes more problematic, we need to react. This diploma thesis deals with the possible solutions of this problem- the ETL performance optimization. The main aim of the thesis is to propose the set of recommendations for the ETL process optimization and its presentation based on practical real world examples. While going through this thesis, the readers get inside the running of the real ETL optimization project. They learn how to proceed during its particular periods, what to avoid and how to reduce the risk level as much as possible. Moreover, the thesis mentions the prevention of the ETL performance loss and discusses the critical factors of the effective ETL process design. Although the proposed methods are described in a general perspective, the thesis is mainly focused on Oracle's database, which is its certain limitation. Also hardware optimization is not a part of the text. First chapters of the thesis describe the problem from the theoretical point of view, which is important for the correct understanding of the main content and the existing literature concerning this problematic is included here as well. Next sections describe the proposed methods and recommendations for the optimization of the ETL processes including tests and project results evaluation. They are mainly focused on the ETL process synchronization and the SQL code optimization areas. All the methods are presented of examples of the real project implemented by the author.

Preference Learning Methods
Pichl, Ota ; Kliegr, Tomáš (advisor) ; Berka, Petr (referee)
The diploma thesis is focused on preference learning. Preferences can be analyzed in many areas starting from economics, over the statistics to informatics. This thesis is focused on informatics point of view on preferences. At the beginning it is focusing on preferences in general and analyzing its origin in economical science. Then this knowledge base is used for analysis of informatics methods employed in preference learning which also includes machine learning and describes how these sciences are connected with each other. Practical part of work is focused on employing informatics preferences in practice. The basic tasks and methods are described at the beginning and followed by more detailed analysis of one the methods (UTA NM). The result consists of description and implementation of a REST web service that can be used for one of the preference learning tasks.

Issues of Epilepsies at Clients of Protected Living Provided by Organisation Duha
Radová, Alena ; Holmerová, Iva (advisor) ; Válková, Monika (referee)
This Dissertation deals with the issues of epilepsies of mentally handicapped clients of the protected living social service. Epilepsies are neurological diseases of the brain manifesting with epileptic seizures on a recurrent basis, occurring in a random way, mostly without having been provoked by an external impulse. The causes of their occurrence are both genetic and non-genetic. They occur all over the world, they affect people of any age or race. They even do not avoid people with mental handicaps, who have difficulties concerning cognitive, speaking as well as mobility capacities due to their incomplete mental development. The ability of learning from previous experience and to adapt to new life conditions and situations is rather limited for these people. All of this means serious complications of their treatment of this neurological disease, which itself is demanding enough. The basic manifestation of epilepsies is formed by epileptic seizures which start suddenly, last for a certain time period and they suddenly end in most cases. A very dramatic course is registered if the epileptic seizure is accompanied by a disturbance of consciousness. Then there arises a stress situation, both for the surrounding people and for the patient. For people with mental handicaps this is still complicated...

Rats of the genus Rattus: their biology and food preferences
Voráčková, Petra ; Frynta, Daniel (advisor) ; Telenský, Petr (referee)
Genus Rattus falls into the most extensive mammalian family Muridae, concretely to subfamily Murinae. The Norway rat (Rattus norvegicus) and black rat (Rattus rattus) are the best known species of genus Rattus. Although the laboratory rat is widely used as model organism, the wild species of genus Rattus cause huge economic losses in agriculture, especially in South East Asia. These commensal rodents are also vectors of zoonotic deseases which can cause human infection. One of the way how to reduce their populations is to study the transmission of food preferences. Well known phenomenon of genus Rattus is the social learning and sharing the experience about food to other individuals. Not only due to this fact is this kind one of the most successful in the animal kingdom.

Data and Ontologies
Kotowski, Jakub ; Vojtáš, Peter (referee) ; Štěpánek, Petr (advisor)
In the core of current semantic web efforts is the notion of ontology. Although ontologies have been explored since times of the Greek philosopher Aristotle already there is still much to learn in this area. There are many tutorials and introductory texts both into the semantic web as whole and into its individual technologies but the learning curve is still very steep and developers have to seek answers to questions that are often topic of current research or the answer is simply not known yet. Much of these difficulties one encounters at what is often the very first step towards building a semantic web application - creating an ontology. In this work I point out some of the difficulties I encountered myself during the work on an ontology for a Sun Microsystems website. I review current research on the problems and suggest a solution. I particularly analyze the notion of role concepts, suggest an improvment of a normalisation technique which can then be used to avoid some of the role-related problems. I also present the process of creating the example Sun ontology.
