The Reaction of a Teacher to the Development of Undesirable Behaviour in the Classroom

Visual preferences for wind turbines
Běťáková, Vendula ; Sklenička, Petr (advisor) ; Janečková, Kristina (referee)
This dissertation is a selection of three papers focused on visual preference of wind turbines. Visual impact presents the connectivity of the articles, whereas each one deals with the topic from different perspective. First paper "Wind turbines location: How many and how far?" analyses in detail the characteristics of wind turbines themselves, i.e. their number and distance from observer or vantage point in relation to landscape quality. Second paper "How education orientation affects attitudes toward wind energy and wind farms: implications for the planning process" concentrates on respondents´ characteristics, in particular educational orientation, general attitude, occurrence of WTs in respondents´ vicinity and willingness to live close to WTs. Whereas first two papers use same assessment method to analyse differences of WTs perception from different point of view, the third paper "Futuristic Wind Power Systems Suitable as Artistic Sculptures" presents review of WTs appearance in general and proposals of possible future look as an alternative to traditional wind turbines.

The exile visual art scene in Bohemia and its subsequent activities abroad, 1933 - 1945
Rokytová, Bronislava ; Pech, Milan (advisor) ; Rousová, Hana (referee)
The exile visual art scene in Bohemia and its subsequent activities abroad, 1933-1945 The development of the political situation in Germany during the thirties of the 20th century, when the Nazi Party was radicalizing and Adolph Hitler's power gradually became unlimited, meant a danger not only for the political opponents of Nazism. Artists who work didn't meet the criteria of the new aesthetic or even engaged in its detriment, had to seek for asylum. The First Czechoslovak Republic became one of these refuges. The Czech-German art scene was a significant aid for the integration of the refugees into the society. Some of its personalities returned to their birthplace for similar reasons as anti-Nazi refugees. Czech-German conditions provided to emigrants an opportunity for active continuing of the struggle against Nazi regime, also with a backward impact in Germany. But the support by the Czech population and the state went through series of changes under pressure of Nazi German government and the growing influence of the Sudeten areas. Artists with the status of refugees were obliged to follow a set of state regulations and orders, which often bureaucratically confined their creative activity. Nevertheless, some of their artworks, contacts and memories show their positive attitude to the Czech...

Translation of Comics. Translation of German Comics into Czech
Schwarzová, Zuzana ; Svoboda, Tomáš (advisor) ; Špirk, Jaroslav (referee)
The thesis contributes to the theory of translation of comics. In the first part, it outlines the development of both German and Czech comics and defines individual aspects of comics translation, taking into account not only language but also images and typography. Regarding language, the thesis looks specifically at balloons, captions, and other characteristics playing an important role in translation, such as interjections, inscriptions etc. The thesis also addresses the interdependence of language and visual messages in comics, which is the typical source of comic effects. Apart from the requirements on comics translations set within translation studies, the thesis also presents the attitudes of publishers and their editorial practices. Based on questionnaires distributed among publishers, we can conclude that they adopt a comprehensive attitude to translation of comics, not only taking into consideration balloons and captions, but also creating favourable conditions to meet the translation studies requirements. Based on the general findings, the thesis analyzes two translations of German comics into Czech. The analysis of their language aspects employs Katharina Reiß's model, images and typographic aspects are analyzed using Delabastita's model. The analyses show considerable differences in...

Použití plánovacích technik pro generování sportovního komentáře pro dvojici virtuálních agentů
Gregor, Ivan ; Brom, Cyril (advisor) ; Bída, Michal (referee)
Virtual agents are essential representatives of multimodal user interfaces. This thesis presents the IVAN system (Intelligent Interactive Virtual Agent Narrators) that generates affective commentary on a tennis game that is given as an annotated video in real-time. The system employs two distinguishable virtual agents that have different roles (TV com- mentator, expert), personality profiles, and positive, neutral, or negative attitudes to the players. The system uses an HTN planner to generate dialogues which enables to plan large dialogue contributions and generate alternative plans. The system can also interrupt the current discourse if a more important event happens. The current affect of the virtual agents is conveyed by lexical selection, facial expression, and gestures. We have focused on the dialogue planning, knowledge processing, and behaviour control of the virtual agents. Commercial products have been used as the audio-visual component of the system.

The Visual Presentation of Romanies in the Czech Press and its Potential Effect on the Contemporary General Attitude of the Czech Public
