Bartošová, Irena ; Večerka, Kazimír (advisor) ; Pánková, Veronika (referee)
The present thesis deals with specialized institutions focused on the instructional-educational process of juveniles in institutional education or preliminary injunction or protective upbringing. Within this rather large field of action, the thesis concentrates specifically on boys who have been found addicted to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances or alcohol. The boys' selection is further limited by their location in the Diagnostic Institute for Youth and subsequent transfer to specialized wards of three educational institutions dealing with this issue. The research part of the bachelor thesis deals with questions that involve primarily the issues of family background of addicted children - teenage boys. This section describes the most commonly represented family constellations, the number of siblings in families, study characteristics, the addiction start with regard to age, narcotics preferences etc. For the purposes of this research, we have chosen a sample of 47 clients who were, in the years 2009 to 2010, placed in the Diagnostic Institute for Youth in Prague 2 and subsequently transferred to specialized departments in educational institutions. The thesis further contains three detailed case studies of selected clients, which clearly and, above all, matter-of-factly complement the...

Gabaľová, Ivana ; Háva, Petr (advisor) ; Angelovská, Olga (referee)
Comparing the Success of Children's Homes and Detention Centres at Preparing Individuals for Life Outside an Institution Ivana Gabaľová Bachelor's Thesis 3.1.2012 SOSP FSV UK Abstract In her thesis, the author discusses the situation of young adults after leaving institutional care, their level of social integration and ability to cope with independent life. She deals with the impact of environment on the socialization process, with the nature and extent of potential for a successful life these individuals posses from their family, and what the role of the institution in the process of their preparation for independent life is. The paper examines differences in the needs of clients of children's homes and detention centres and seeks to identify critical factors determining success in their personal lives and on the labour market. Expert interviews with staff of both of these types of institution conclude that differences between children's homes and detention centres in this regard are negligible. In detention centres there is a bigger emphasis on obedience due to problematic behaviour of the wards, whereas in children's homes, children have more freedom. In both groups, the most significant obstacle to success is the lack of independence and an unrealistic view of the world. Pivotal is also the distinction...

Bidmonová, Tereza ; Morávková Krejčová, Lenka (advisor) ; Čáp, David (referee)
4 Abstract The topic of this thesis is the strategy of coping with stressful situations in a population of individuals with behavioral disorders. The starting point of the thesis lies in the assumption that adolescents with behavioral disorders show greater difficulties in coping with stressful situations and react differently from their peers that have no behavioral disorders. The target group of respondents is represented by clients of juvenile correctional institutions, specifically boys between 15 and 19 years of age. Their answers are compared with a comparison group of students from secondary schools that have no behavioral disorders. The strategies of coping with stress are examined through the use of two methods, a questionnaire "Strategie zvládání stresu SVF 78" and the semiprojective Rosenzweig Picture-Frustration Test. The results indicate that the group of adolescent boys placed in juvenile correctional institutions, shows the tendency to resign more frequently and the effort to gain control over stressful situations less often. Contrary to expectations, the predicted search for alternative activities to escape from stressful situations was not confirmed. Furthemore, neither the tendency for a behavior-oriented self defence nor ones` aggresive actions directed at the surroundings occured....

Obořilová, Dominika ; Bendl, Stanislav (advisor) ; Syřiště, Ivo (referee)
This thesis is entitled "Contact Separation, an Experimental Form of Institutional Social Care." The aim of this thesis is to provide a deeper insight into institutional care and to introduce an innovative approach as a possible form of social care in relation to institutions dedicated to institutional social care. The thesis is divided into two sections - theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part describes the concept of institutional social care in the Czech Republic and represents a system of practices in a particular youth educational institute in Prague 9. The practical part is designed as a qualitative research investigation, on basis of which I am trying to answer the question whether this innovative form of care benefits the children that are on the run for a long time. In the thesis conclusion I am examining the results of the investigation and their use in present-day practice. Key words juvenile hall education, protective custody education, preliminary measures, child, voluntary stay, approved stay away from the facility, institutional upbringing
