Fialová, Markéta ; Stará, Jana (referee) ; Hejlová, Helena (referee)
The aim of my work is to indicate some of the theoretical possibilities that have connections with values and value orientation and also my personal research of the specific group. The study sample is the group of primary teachers and also the students of pedagogical faculty of West Bohemia University in Pilsen, branch of study - primary teachers. The research was given in one year when only women were tested. The whole study sample has been compared with the population of women, with the students of pedagogical faculty and finally the teachers were compared among themselves. The questionnaire was used during the research. The respondents were asked to answer unitary and standard test for current czech population. The result of the research is description of the value structure and value preferences that were explored within the group. The results have showed the differences in value orientation among primary teachers and the group of current population of students of pedagogical faculty. The work does not put emphasis to give the coherent point of view on the theoretical knowledge of values. Despite the fact, the work can demonstrate the specific group of teachers, how do they differ from the current population and if their value orientation can influence their choice of teacher job. Why is Israel still not a member of NATO?
Novotná, Jana ; Karásek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Smetana, Michal (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the question of potential membership of Israel in NATO. It elaborates on the hypothesis that Israel is not interested in formal NATO membership, but rather in the broadening of mutual cooperation on a formal basis. The main goal of the thesis is to answer the research question: Why is Israel still not a member of NATO? The answer combines empirical analysis together with theoretical concept of national interest. Empirical sections examine broader context of mutual relations, investigates their interests in further cooperation and defines problems connected with official Israeli application for NATO membership. Theoretical sections examine Israeli national interest in NATO membership through realist and liberal perspective. Combination of empirical and theoretical research provides a wider context of the research question, why is Israel still not a member of NATO. My proposition is that Israeli membership in NATO face challenges on levels of NATO member states as well as on the level of Israeli political representatives. Furthermore, both entities perceive security through different lenses. Israel perceive its security rather through the realist lenses because it still faces basic security threats in its immediate neighborhood, whereas NATO member states already...

Legislative Process in the European Union: European Citizens' Initiative
Houda, Ondřej ; Knutelská, Viera (advisor) ; Plechanovová, Běla (referee)
This thesis is embedded in the theoretical approach of multilevel governance and presumption of the rational behaviour of actors. Using the method of process tracing it aims to uncover the legislative process in the European Union. It is a single case study and as a case was chosen the negotiation of the regulation of the citizens' initiative. Various actors were involved in the negotiations, this thesis focuses on the main one - European Commission, European Parliament, the Council, interest organisations and national parliaments. The thesis presumed, that all actors will try to push through their interests based on their rational choice. This presumption was verified, although the success rate of the players varied a lot. As the most successful should be considered the European Parliament, who defended the interests of the individuals and the Council, which apparently represented the interests of the governments of the member states (especially in the issues of lowering the bureaucratic burden). The interest organisations showed their positions clearly, however the Commission did not take their positions much into account while preparing the draft regulation. The position of the national parliaments was different then presumed. Although the thesis expected them to be directly involved in the...
