The Judiciary - Europa's (il)legitimate Child?
Štamberk, David ; Zemánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Král, Richard (referee)
The thesis is focused on examination of issues of legitimacy of the Court of Justice of the European Union. The problem is perceived in the context of the growing importance of the judiciary both at national and international levels. Judges are increasingly forced by circumstances to shape law. Their role in the system of bodies of states and international organisations is thus changed. The courts of the highest instance in particular become political actors. Traditional (functional) conception of their legitimacy, based on the requirements of professional credit, independence and impartiality, is then shown to be insufficient and must be supplemented by democratic legitimacy and proven existence of the legitimizing chain. Due to growing influence of international courts of justice this problem is projected to the international level. In the case of the Court of Justice of the European Union the whole problem is even more intense for its supranational character and influence, which it acquires consequently. It should therefore be at the forefront of efforts to improve the legitimacy of the international judiciary. The current situation however does not really corresond to it. Improvements in the appointment of Judges and Advocates-General were therefore proposed. Larger involvement of the European...

Shark as a cultural concept
Pechová, Karolina ; Soukup, Václav (advisor) ; Půtová, Barbora (referee)
The aim of this work is to analyze shark as a cultural concept. From cultural point of view, we are able to look at the shark as a pattern, which is always changing in time and environment, in other words, sharks are not only sea species but also creatures holding symbol of meaning. In many world cultures, shark became a symbol of many meanings. Using the system analysis approach, I will attempt to describe the shark from different point of view of Human sciences. First of all I will make a research about shark as a biological part and its importance and indispensableness in perfectly balanced ocean life. Including possible consequences of losing this fascinating creature by exterminating it. From biological and ecological outlook I will move to socio-cultural and symbolical part, which I comprehend as a pivotal point in this research as whole. This chapter is dedicated to the question of overall negative perception of sharks by people. Among other topics, I will also attempt to describe symbolical meaning of sharks in Pacific cultures and compare with its role in western culture. Media and its influence on general perception of sharks will be the subject of the following chapter. Media are powerful tool for shaping the public opinion, it is a fact. As Winston Churchill said - "There is no public...

Influence of point load on crack shape in polymeric pipe
Ševčík, Martin ; Hutař, Pavel ; Náhlík, Luboš ; Pinter, G. ; Frank, A.
The aim of this work was to develop an easy applicable algorithm of numerical model creation simulating a cracked polymeric pipe under various combination of loading. Proposed algorithm is able to find a real crack front shape using iterative procedure. The main aim was to study the effect of the point load and its consequences on the crack front shape. It was numerically confirmed that point loading causes grater crack extension in axial direction than in the case of pipe loaded by pure inner pressure. This results leads to higher stress intensity factor and lower residual life-time of the pipe system.

Innovative Marketing Trends as a Response to the Changing Consumers
Keskin, Kaan ; Král, Petr (advisor) ; Tisovski, Marija (referee)
In recent years, innovation and the subsequent technological advancements have gained significance in shaping consumer behavior to a disruptive extent. Especially with the advancements in mobile technology, consumer behaviors shifted towards an elevated expectation of mobility and increased interactivity. Marketers who seek a better degree of access to the consumer market and provide customer satisfaction needed to adopt new tools and methods in communication, which would align with their target groups more effectively. Mobile marketing emerged as an innovative technique that is based on and driven by this change in consumer behavior; therefore it is necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of its approach and implementation. In this light, this research paper employs a quantitative approach based on the results' analysis of an online survey conducted by the Author of the thesis, aimed at testing whether there is a strong correlation between mobile marketing efforts and customer satisfaction. Consequently, one can conclude that the same mobile devices that serve as convenience for consumers, serve as an effective channel of communication for marketers, whereas with an integrated approach where other components of the marketing mix support mobile content, the likeliness of attaining consumer satisfaction is higher.

SIGA 2011
Kolman, Radek ; Linkeová, I. ; Okrouhlík, Miloslav ; Pařík, Petr
The conference SIGA 2011 aimed to bring together mathematicians, physicists, computer designers and engineers dealing with splines who are using them for the numerical solutions of partial differential equations of various problems in mechanics and physics. In computational mechanics, it is isogeometric analysis (IGA) which is being dynamically developed. This numerical method employs shape functions based on different types of splines (B-splines, NURBS, T-splines and many others), and the fields of unknown quantities are consequently described the same way as the geometry of the studied domain. In addition, this approach provides a higher degree of continuity than that offered by the classical finite element (FE) method based on Lagrangian polynomials. Isogeometric analysis aims to integrate FE ideas in CAD systems without necessity to regenerate mesh. The conference intends to create a forum for further discussion in multidisciplinary scientific areas involving mathematics, computer graphics, geometry, physics, engineering and software engineering, respectively.

Němec, Adam ; Cebe, Jan (advisor) ; Krejcar, Robert (referee)
Bachelor thesis "The Case of Rudolf Barak in the Media of the Prague Spring" deals with the liberalization of the media in 1968 in Czechoslovakia and demonstrates this on a media affair of former Interior Minister Rudolf Barak. It describes reform trends and their consequences in the political and media spheres during the sixties, political and social changes, major adjustments in media legislation and changes in the media organization, rehabilitation processes with political prisoners. It summarizes the major events that shaped the career of Rudolf Barak, his work in the Communist Party and the Ministry of the Interior, his struggle for power, his arrest, investigation and imprisonment, and finally his release and efforts for rehabilitation. This thesis analyses media contents of three representative printed periodicals from this period and evaluates media coverage of the process with Rudolf Barak in 1962 and of his release from prison in 1968, it also compares the media image of Rudolf Barak in selected periodicals.

Immigrants in the Czech Republic, discourse analysis of their images
Seidlová, Jana ; Suša, Oleg (advisor) ; Buriánek, Jiří (referee)
The work aims to describe field of discourses, where the texts and talks about immigration (more concretely about immigrants in the Czech Republic) are created. The theoretical part describes the notions of nation and identity; it also provides a brief description of the explanatory models of migration and describes the universalism and particularism dichotomy in the immigration policies. Moreover it elaborates a concept of the multiculturalism as a discourse and construction. The concept of discourse is firstly explained in broader theoretical context, with reference to issues of language, power and ideology; secondly in its methodological consequences. Author also gives an account of linguistic tools (modality), and concepts of related sciences (binary opposition, ideological square). The analytical approach is based in the frame of the Critical discourse analysis. An important conclusion is the revelation of the risk as a discourse which legitimates the power and dominancy over immigrants. According different strategies regarding the risks' construction, three main categories in the field of discourse was considered: opportunity, ambivalence and threat. For the further study the author recommends to investigate the field of key actors who has a power to create and shape the discourses in this field.

Zedníková, Martina ; Stará, Jana (advisor) ; Linková, Marie (referee)
My diploma paper is focused on perceiving the issue o f m arking and verbal evaluation at the prim ary schools by teachers, pupils and parents. In the theoretical part I investigated the ideas o f theorists. I concentrated on the concepts o f evaluation and assessm ent, the types and functions o f evaluation and verbal evaluation and marking. I carried out a theoretical analysis o f the advantages and disadvantages o f the exam ined forms of evaluation. The aim o f the practical part was to research and consequently estim ate the current situation, particularly to w hat extent are theorist's opinions related to / different from the school practice. I would like to em phasize that, according to my opinion, two most im portant conclusions come out of my research. None of the discussed w ays of evaluation is more convenient - the best w ould be to com bine and utilize both of them. The parents play indispensable role in the evaluation process. Their cooperation w ith the children and the school helps to shape the evaluation in the w ay that the assessm ent is created by both - the teachers and the pupils. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Aspects of tradition and innovation in D. Milhaud's string quartets nos. 1-9
Solodovnikova, Tatiana ; Gabrielová, Jarmila (advisor) ; Havlík, Jaromír (referee) ; Douša, Eduard (referee)
Restoration of a whole picture of a musicallife of the XX century and a multilaterally research of activity and creativity of the personalities forrning music's unique shape, help to better understand the music progress. It is also necessary to study and to compare an extensive musical material, in particular of chamber music, the compositions of the different composers in a genre of string quartet. Many works are devoted to life and activity of D. Milhaud (1892-1974) as one of the most prominent French composers of the first half of the XX century, but not all his heritage was studied in detail. The genre of string quartet can be a subject for extensive research because it is the most important part of the work of this composer within years 1912-1951 and consequently that string quartet reflects the composer's style. Insufficient interest in Milhauďs chamber music in the academic literature is connected with necessity to appreciate at the certain stage the leading genres of his work, such as an opera, a ballet, a cantata, a symphonic music; thereby Milhauďs quartets are not unequivocally valued in academic literature. The mam subject in this dissertation is a question of tradition and innovaton in Milhauďs quartets Nos. 1-9 written in a fairly long period of Milhauďs life in years 1912- 1935, based on the...
