The Choice of an Appropriate Subject of Study Through Practical Experience

This text concentrates on career decision making of high school students aspirating to university studies. The emphasis is on practical work experience as a specific aspect of career counselling. The goal of the thesis is to examine the role of a practical experience inthe scope of career decision making. The thesis first offers a theoretical grounding of the topic.The empirical part includes a detailed description of a project, the aim of which was to arrange for students an opportunity for a practical work experience within the field they are interested in studying. Academic self-efficacy of high school students

The concept of academic self-efficacy, which refers to Albert`Bandura`s self-efficacy theory, is an important factor in students` academic achievement. In this thesis we attempted to develop a research tool for assessing academic self-efficacy. The theoretical part focuses on general definition of self-efficacy and specific characteristics of perceived academic self-efficacy. The empirical part deals with the development of the questionnaire, with verification of its psychometric characteristics and determines its validity. The questionnaire was tested on a research sample of 611 students of five Prague secondary schools, aged 15 - 19. The findings indicate that the developed assessment tool is reliable, has good psychometric qualities and satisfactory validity, and is applicable in school practice. The research has also revealed interesting relations between academic self-efficacy and other variables such as gender, age or demanding school situations experienced by student. The outdoor geography of high school students in Prague

This bachelor thesis focuses on the leisure time outdoor activities of the high school students in Prague. Outdoor activities spread dynamically, because they involve complex activities which take place outdoors. These activities are especially favoured by teenagers. The aims of this thesis is to reveal if high school students spend their leisure time actively or passively, how much leisure time they have and which outdoor activities are the most popular. More, the thesis also answers the questions with whom students spend their leisure time, if they prefer collective or individual sports, winter or summer sports etc. Methodologically the thesis stems from the quantitative methods - a questionnaire survey. The survey was conducted in two gymnasia, two high schools and two vocational training schools in Prague. In the concluding part, there are some ideas for the next research agenda in this topic.
Supporting of autonomous morality as a precaution against cheating at school

Bachelor´s thesis "Supporting of autonomous morality as a precaution against cheating at school" deals with the phenomenon of academic cheating. The main goal of this work is to take a close look at the issue of academic cheating from the perspective of students of particular catholic high school. Academic cheating has been relatively little charted in the Czech Republic, there are no studies on cheating at religious schools. The thesis aims at examining of motivation to cheating on religious and others schools and targets to compare them with respect to their possible reasons. The thesis consists of two parts. The theoretical part contains topics such as high schools, church high schools, adolescent stage of life and personality in classroom context as predictors of attitudes about high school cheating. For the research was chosen qualitative research method. 27 subjects participated in the research. Results of semi-structured focus group interviews are summarized in the conclusive part. The purpose of this research was to find out possible motivation of cheating as well as students overall view on this phenomenon. This list will not certainly be extensive. It may be beneficial to workers in the field of education, but also to general public.
Value in today´s youth

The bachelor dissertation consists of two parts and deals with issues of value orientation of modern youth. The theoretical part concerns values as such, their varieties and definitions. Furthermore, it is focused on characteristics of the youth such as its mental and physical aspect and on mapping of socialization and values of the contemporary young. The practical part applies to clarification of survey outcome which was executed via submitting questionnaires to a certain sample of contemporary young people. Aim of the investigation was to determine which values are reported by respondents in the age of about 15 to 18 years and university full-time students with putting emphasis on changes in their evaluation of importance of the key values within different life stages.
Using and overusing of drugs in individual types of high schools in the region of Teplice and their mutual comparison

The thesis addresses the issue of use and abuse of drugs in individual types of secondary schools in the district of Teplice and their mutual comparison. The theoretical part describes the issue of drug and other than drug addictions and their impacts on the target population of the secondary-school youth. It also describes individual drugs in respect of their effects and risks of intoxication, protective factors and risk situations. The research was conducted in secondary schools in the district of Teplice. The comparison involved a secondary vocational school, a secondary technical school ended with the final school-leaving examination and a grammar school. The first hypothesis assumes that most of students attending secondary schools have experience in respect of drugs. The second hypothesis assumes that drugs are taken for the first time before reaching the fifteenth year of age. The third hypothesis assumes that the drug most widespread among students is marihuana. The last hypothesis assumes that the minimum of three per cent of students have experience in sniffing of volatile substances.
Valuation of Secondary School Young People

The project is about value orientation of high school students in Czech Republic. The theoretic part describes values in a general notion, their functions and agents, that influence them. In this part is also ephebic evolutionary period, free time, life style and value orientation of youth described. The practical part of project is a research, in that I tried to analyse the value orientation of accomodated students that means a sample of high school students. The research followed the preference of instrumental and target values and it tried to verify given hypothesis in advance.
