Competence management
Krchová, Karolina ; Tureckiová, Michaela (advisor) ; Kocianová, Renata (referee)
Kompetence a systémy řízení kompetencí j sou v odborné literatuře i v praxi téma více než aktuální.

Concept of Age Management in Organizations in the Czech Republic
Steklíková, Eliška ; Kocianová, Renata (advisor) ; Šerák, Michal (referee)
This diploma thesis summarises current approaches to age management, or human resources management taking in account the age and skills of employees in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of this paper deals with the background of this concept, describes the present demographical development, its consequences in the labour field, and the problem of aging population which is visible in the need to adapt applied management strategies in organisations to this trend. There are mentioned several programmes, thoughts, and legislative measures on which the newest concepts and strategic plans in Europe and the Czech Republic are based. The empirical part of the thesis focuses on a specific level of organisations, and consists of two surveys. The first one is a comparative case study for which data were collected in two organisations which have recently implemented measures stemming from age management strategies. These measures are then specified and confronted with the statements of the employees who, in semi-structured interviews with the author, talked about the changes that were put into practice under the concept of age management, and about the discrimination of persons over 50 years of age on the labour market. The second survey was carried out by a questionnaire distributed online to...

Use of Make-up and Gender Subjectivity
Mrňousová, Michaela ; Kolářová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Kiczková, Zuzana (referee)
This work focuses on women's use of make-up from gender and sociological point of view. Theoretical background of the thesis is made by the post-structuralist theories, which regard make-up as one of the disciplinary practices by which the gender subject is shaped. Another important part of the thesis is the presentation of the key theories related to the norms for appearance and the functioning of the gender system. The aim of this work is neither to critique nor to defend women's use of make-up, but to explore this phenomenon from various perspectives. It seems that academic literature as well as mainstream discussions consider the use of make-up as a marginalized activity. This activity requires explanations from the perspective of every day life and women's experience. What norms shape the women use of make-up? What strategies in relation to wearing make-up do women create? With use of post-structural discursive analysis of semi-structured interviews the objective of the research part was to define the discourses, themes and meanings that interviewed women expressed in relation to their use of make-up. Even in the context of very typical femininity the discursive positions and constructions that have the women articulated show the variety and dynamics of women's experience. Key words: The use of...

The role of anthropology in the development discourse
Adamčíková, Jitka ; Uherek, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Kysučan, Lubor (referee) ; Nováček, Pavel (referee)
This thesis assesses the role of the subject of anthropology in the international development discourse. The author, herself an anthropologist analysed the positions among anthropologists and distinguished two main positions of anthropologists versus development. Within the first epistemic community of anthropologists the anthropologists consider themselves as active participants and offer their expertise into the services of governmental, nongovernmental or international organizations demonstrating the potential of anthropological knowledge for planning, implementation and evaluation of development policy. Within the second group the position is one as an antagonistic observer, characterised by reservation and criticism of both, the ideas of development and the motives of its promoters. Hence, within the second group the radical critics perceive development as an organised system of power and practices maintaining the neo-colonial dominance of western countries over the poorer countries of the "South". The genealogy of development and progress is traced back to Evolutionism of the 19th century which influenced the key notion of modernization dividing the world population into the developed and developing ones. The differences in life quality in Africa or Western Europe are viewed as consequences of African...
