Prague philharmonic building
Vrtílek, Osvald ; Plášil, Jiří (referee) ; Boháč, Ivo (advisor)
The diploma thesis on the Prague Philharmonic is based on the design of new concert halls for classical music, as well as other genres with additional functions alocated in one building. The site is located in Prague's Holešovice on the left bank of the Vltava River, near the transport route - Captain Jaroš Avenue. The site is delimited by the original development from the west, the river from the south, the railway viaduct from the west and new development from the north - this development is part of the planned reclamation of the Holešovice brownfield Bubny-Zátory, which has been implemented since 2000. The appearance of the created square results from the current state of preserved transport communications, while it also has the function of leveling the level differences by means of stairs on the north and east sides. The green islands in the square then define the course of pedestrian roads through the open space in front of the building. The shape of the building is derived from the shape of the main hall, located in the middle of the building, as a solid, non-transparent mass that grows from a transparent, light envelope in the shape of a low block. The facade is made by curtain walling from the glass panels of which are rhythmized in a ratio of 1: 2: 3 with alternating transparency. The building itself contains three concert halls - the main hall has an auditorium adapted to the type of vineyard, so it is possible to watch musical performances from all directions and yet offers unique acoustic conditions in terms of shape. The single-storey small hall has about half the capacity and is shaped into a shoebox type with a lower headroom, and the multifunctional hall has a screened floor on a hydraulic system, which ensures maximum adaptability to the type of event. In addition to the halls, there is a cloakroom in the spacious foyer, copying the floor plans of the main staircases, a café with refreshments and sanitary facilities. On the first floor, there is also music school with rehearsal rooms, a recording studio and a co-working workplace with seperated entrances. There are also separate spaces for commercial use. Most of the space runs from the first floor to the second, except for the northwestern part, where the music library is located. On the third floor, the foyer also serves as an exhibition space, around which on one side there is the administrative workplace of the Philharmonic and on the other a smaller cafe, a conference room for smaller events, and behind it VIP lounges. On the first underground floor there are garages and facilities for artists and the building itself - locker rooms, warehouses, tuning rooms, workrooms, studios and a rehearsal room. Garages continue to the second underground floor in one part and there are spaces for the technical equipment of the building in the other.

Water world - spa Krnov
Janák, Lukáš ; Svatošová, Ivana (referee) ; Boháč, Ivo (advisor)
Diploma thesis is proposing a new desing of Baths for the city of Krnov. This task comes from official architectural competition and it was chosen because of previous experience with simillar projects in bachelor´s study program. The main goal is to create a whole new year-round area not only with swimming pool services, but also for entertainment, relaxation, and summer sport activities. The design respects the meander of the Opavice River and is using the current outside swimming pool as a starting compositional element. The basic idea is to create perspective axes which would connect the Krnov historical architecture landmarks of the city (Svatý Kopeček, the Pilgrimage Church of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows in Civilina, Krnov Town Hall, Evangelical Church, St. Martin's Church and the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary) with the proposal area. The fundumental idea is to guide these axes in such a way that they would line the mass of the existing healthy greenery, and simultaneously they are shaping the form of a new bath building. Bathing facilities are designed to communicate as much as possible with the waterfront and the adjacent land for sports and physical education. The shape of the wave allows for maximum supply of sunlight from the outside, while inside it helps to orientate within the space naturally and create optimal space for individual operations. The internal operation of the baths is divided into three basic zones - sports zone (swimming pool), sports and recreation zone (aquapark) and recreation and relaxation zone (SPA and wellness). The basic principle is the balance of mind and body, which, thanks to the structure of bathing operations is calming the mind and simultaneously physically burden the body in one direction and vice versa in the other. The result is a bathing complex focused mainly on swimming and sports activities which is reaction to its history. Other activities are indoor/outdoor sauna, whirlpool, massage, gym, aquapark, restaurant, accommodation, which serve visitors as one open compact space that they can walk through.

Town-house
Kvášová, Lucie ; Plášil, Jiří (referee) ; Boháč, Ivo (advisor)
The house is defined by its urban context in which it is located. It reacts to objects which are close to him. The proposed multifunctional house communicates with the opposite facade of the Church of St. Leopold and adds the harmony and the order to the whole space, which is now lacking. Together it should imaginarily create the dominant transit in to the city centre - the pylons of the city gate. On its ground floor, the building opens up the communication with the street space and, thanks to the glass, blurs the boundaries of its interior and the exterior.

New use of the former military sites in Brno
Pagáč, Martin ; Plášil, Jiří (referee) ; Boháč, Ivo (advisor)
The aim of the work was to create a concept of land design after the former Jaselské barracks in the locality of Brno-Ponava. The proposal addresses urban ties in the area and their possible use in the coming years. The work is based on the concept of the zoning plan of Brno, where a new street connection is being created between Šumavská and Sportovní streets. A new block of flats is proposed here, containing the functions of housing, services, hotel accommodation and a multifunctional building. This project uses the potential of the area near to the city center and proposes other elements such as a new tram loop, two new streets and a living parterre oriented to the main street with commercial areas. The use of newly created courtyards in the form of front gardens and publicly accessible areas of urban greenery is also addressed here. This will create a new park inside the block itself. The proposal deals in more detail with possible layout solutions and variants of modern living in city center and offers apartments from the smallest sizes to above-standard housing layouts. The buildings facing Štefánikova Street are based on the traditional concept of facades and layouts. On the contrary, the proposed buildings in the eastern and southern part of the complex are based on the modern concept of apartment layouts and structural solutions of individual houses. In several buildings, large accessible galleries are designed, which allow to improve communication between the inhabitants of the house, but also mainly the comfort in using the house. All apartment buildings in the basement are equipped with garages designed for apartment residents. The dominant feature of the whole complex is a designed corner building and an axially mirrored hotel. For the rest of not only the locals, a simple wellness spa facility has been designed here, which gives a different view of our traditional czech spa. To complement the newly created apartments in this locality, there is also a location for a kindergarten, which is designed according to modern teaching methods and as much as possible with a feeling for the needs of little
