Tauchmanová, Hana ; HLAVÁČ, Jiří (advisor) ; MAREŠ, Vlastimil (referee)
This thesis deals with using general methodical principles while teaching to play the clarinet and to sing particular compositions – the song cycle by Louis Spohr “Sechs deustsche Lieder fur eine Singstimme, Klarinette und Klavier op. 103“ and the song by Franz Schubert “Der Hirt auf dem Felsen D (965)“. The work is divided into five chapters. The first chapter briefly mentions the historical background of birth of the compositions with a special regard to the changes in the musical life in the 19th century and the personal lives of both composers. The second chapter, Personality of the performer, observes important aspects which no performer should ever forget about while studying a chamber piece of work, such as mental preparation, the issue of memory, but also the right choice of repertoire with respect to the characteristics of the soprano voice, for which both compositions were written. Other aspects include posture on the stage, breath support, intonation, sound consistence and making use of all the aspects while performing the song by F. Schubert as well as the song cycle by L. Spohr. Other two chapters are dedicated to both compositions, the third being focused on L. Spohr´s “Sechs deustsche Lieder fur eine Singstimme, Klarinette und Klavier op. 103“ and the fourth focusing on Franz Schubert´s “Der Hirt auf dem Felsen D (965)“. The circumstan-ces of birth of both compositions are described, loose translation of the texts is provided as well as performer´s experience with the particular songs. The last (fifth) chapter, Historical faithfulness of interpretation, is a short contemplation over the fact to what extent a performer is able to depict the original idea of the author by means of contemporary technical possibilities. The thesis describes personal opinions, experience, feelings and problems which its writer encountered while studying the clarinet and singing parts of the compositions.

The core work is a philosophical interpretation of the novel by H. Hesse 'Steppenwolf, but as a whole this work is an attempt to develop a broader context of literary works. Therefore, the constitutive part of the game as thematization philosophical problems (including issues understanding the world and each other in understanding the meaning of the rules of the game) thematization artistic creation in relation to mimesis and in particular the presentation of a performance practice that is not a commentary, nor the contents and is more in developing motion amplification. Family in modern American drama
Hovorka, Jan ; Wallace, Clare (advisor) ; Ulmanová, Hana (referee)
This work analyses the American family in context of society and its demands. It focuses on the cannonical works of the Modern American drama, namely plays of Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, Edward Albee, Sam Shepard and David Mamet. The playwrights are analysed in two distinctive groups according to similar themes they share. Tennessee Williams and Arthur Miller depict the family under increasing pressure from the outside as well from the inside. The unit disintegrates, members of the family escape and thus the unit loses its funtions. The pressure is imposed by the tenets of the American mythology that governs the society, which, in turn, influences the family. The common theme of the first group of playwrights is the feeling of loss. This comprises of two dimensions - spatial and tempoval. The second group of playwrights share the same theme of loss with its spatial and temporal implications. They are characteristic by their distinctive use of language that depicts the prevalent sense of doom, apocalypse, futility and sterility. The search for identity is also implied by the restlessness of characters. The detrimental effect of harsh business environment on the family is explored with regards to masculinity. The work shows the family in the context of the 1950s, an era when the family was elevated to...

The doctoral dissertation named A word in a space (A scene solution and an audience experience of a drama) is a theoretical reflection of six productions I was involved as a director in the years from 2008 to 2013 Four of them are wrote by czech authors: Josef Topol: The End of Carnival, Josef Kajetán Tyl: Bloody Christening or Drahomíra and her sons, František Langer: Periphery, and Lenka Lagronová: From the dust of stars; and two plays are from authors abroad: Anton Pavlovich Chekhov: Ivanov and Pedro Calderón de la Barca: Them Constant Prince. The subject of this research is the relationship between internal theme of a playwright??s text and scene solution that specifies the audience reception. I assume here, that what wiever sees and hears creates for his perception ? perception connected with experiencing followed by imagining ? binding conditions.

Samuel Beckett: the process of impoverishment in his theatre plays
Kmoníčková, Vendula ; Pilný, Ondřej (advisor) ; Wallace, Clare (referee)
Samuel Beckett's early plays are usually regarded as part of the tradition of the Theatre of the Absurd, while his later plays are largely considered to be minimalist. As there is no direct relationship between these two styles, they have never been put into perspective. Nevertheless, Beckett's drama for the stage tends towards progressive reduction regarding a number of aspects of the plays, due to which minimalism in Beckett is a logical development of Absurdism. The Theatre of the Absurd, such as Waiting for Godot, already meant reduction when compared to traditional drama. As Martin Esslin described, it lacked developed characters, plot with development and suspense, and dialogue as a means of dialectic exchange. The works that followed intensify the process of impoverishment, leading to mere static poetic images. Plays like Not I and That Time are valid examples of literary minimalism as described by Enoch Brater, Ulysse Duthuit, Leo Bersani, or John Barth.

Playing as a teaching and educational method
Vacková, Veronika ; Kasíková, Hana (advisor) ; Koťa, Jaroslav (referee)
The purpose of this thesis is to introduce game as a teaching and educational method. Game is the most natural activity of a child. Therefore, every teacher should be familiar with possibilities of classifying games into educational activities. There are many definitions of games, I mention some of them in my work, and I also present examples of games, classified according to their specialization. I tried to contain important factors that operate on the proper course of the healthy and active game. As part of my pedagogical practice, I applied the selected games to students and I tried to affect their effectiveness and popularity. One part of my work is a chapter about games in different developmental stages. I present the possible games, toys and activities, appropriate and proportionate to different developmental steps. The result is a theoretical base I would like to develop in my next research.

Sieglová, Kateřina ; Kuthan, Jiří (advisor) ; Novotná, Eva (referee)
HRÁDEK U NECHANIC - ARCHITECTURE AND ITS INSPIRATORY SOURCES Chateau Hrádek u Nechanic was built by František Arnošt, the count of Harrach (1799-1884) as a new representative residence of the county family and also as a Harrach's earldom administrative centre. The construction was officially completed in the year 1857 but works in interiors were practically proceeding during the whole second half of the 19th century. Subject of this work is architecture of the chateau Hrádek u Nechanic and its inspiratory sources. We talk about first large aristocratic building in the whole Habsburg Imperium that was in such an integral resemblance influenced by the english Gothic Revival phenomenon - an architecture, an interiors culture and a lifestyle. As an author of building plans is despite many obscurities considered Edward Buckton Lamb (1806-1869). It makes from count František Arnošt of Harrach propably the only one developer in the Habsburg Imperium who gave an order of a project for his chateau directly to an english architect. During the construction were made changes and adjustments by the vienesse architect Karl Fischer who took also a control of bulding. At the...
