History of the city Jílové near Děčín after 1945: Transfer and Settlement in the Narratives of Its Inhabitants

This thesis considers a difficult period of the post-war period of history in Jílové near Děčín. The main chapters of this work deal with the themes of transfer of Germans from the city and with the following event of settlement of new inhabitants. The aim of this thesis is to reflect the period of the national migration in Jílové. Last but not least this work aims to reveal micro-historical view on a process of key events in a small city considering individual life stories. Submitted thesis is based on available archive materials and literature. At the same time there was applied a method of oral history. In the following chapters there are introduced 6 life stories of inhabitants of Jílové who helped with their narrations to describe the key themes of this research as well as "small history" of everyday life in the post-war era. Diplomová práce Vztah obyvatel k místu 5 Abstract This thesis entitled "Relationship of inhabitants to their home place in Eastern and Western Ore Mountains (Krušné hory)" focuses on the issue of a relationship the current inhabitants have to the area they live in. This relationship is defined on the basis of several distinct theoretical areas. The first portion of the thesis covers the basic terminology key for understanding the relationship of inhabitants to their home place. It deals with the definition of the term "home place", its character and ways in which it may be perceived. It also contemplates the term "settlement" and focuses on "identity" which is further defined as biographical and regional identity. Identity may be studied in the context of a relationship to the countryside, local community and historical awareness. The paper also characterises the Sudetenland region and provides the historical context necessary for a comprehensive outlook at the area researched without marginalizing the issue of nationalism. The practical portion employs qualitative methodology to process eighteen semi-structured interviews with representatives of elites (mayors, businessmen and members of associations) of the selected are of the Eastern and Western Ore Mountains. German-Czech Relations in the 1930s in Krupka

The present thesis is concerned with Czech-German relations in Krupka in the 1930s. The theoretical part presents a historical overview of the situation in Czechoslovakia and the Sudetenland. Drawing upon the chronicle of the town of Krupka, it also provides information on the town's history. The empirical part of the thesis deals with Czech-German relations in Krupka. Data was collected through questionnaires and interviews conducted with survivors. The conclusion provides an evaluation of status differences between Czechs and Germans in Krupka in the 1930s.
Transformation and progress of international relationships between Sudetendeutsche landsmannschaft and Czech Republic in 1990-2015

This bachelor thesis focuses on activities of Sudetendeutsche landsmannschaft and its influence on czech-german relationships in 1990-2015. Sudetendeutsche landsmannschaft is organization, which covers and defends the interests of German citizens, who were displaced or fled from czech teritory because of world war II. Thesis summarizes most important events, which had an impact on international relationships of Czech republic and Germany. In the first part there are definitions of Sudetenland and Sudeten German, which are the main keys to this thesis. Then I will describe the founding of organisation which represents Sudeten German, structure of this organization and program 20 points. In next chapter I analyze events during years 1990-2015, which begin of the fall of the communism in Czechoslovakia in 1989. Important event for czech-german relationships was completion of Czech-german declaration in 1997. Next chapters are for example about entry of Czech republic to Europen Union, ratification of the Treaty of Lisbon and presidential election in 2013. Great success was speech of prime minister Petr Nečas in Bavarian parliament in 2013, because in next years was changed code of rules of Sudetendeutsche landsmannschaft. "Transfer" of Germans and Postoloprty in 1945

The theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis ""Transfer" of Germans and Postoloprty in 1945" is devoted to the relations between Czechs and Germans in the pre-war period and their outcome after the Second World War, i.e. the expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia. The second part of the thesis - the practical part - is focused on a specific area (the municipality of Postoloprty) in which the acts of violence against the German population took place. In this part the thesis is mainly based on the work with testimonies of witnesses who were willing to share their experiences and memories. The final part of the thesis is devoted to the investigation from 1947 and finally the thesis deals in brief with the modern investigation. Imagery of Czech border in modern cinematography and in television

This master's thesis named Imagery of Czech Border in Modern Cinematography and in Television focuses on the issue of the representation of the Czech border region in Czech cinematography after 1990. The Czech border region is still an interesting area for its historical development, attracting the attention of many historians and artists. The thesis seeks to answer the question of how Czech cinematography works with historically and geographically given realities. The first part of the thesis deals with the issue of the historical development of the Czech border region and introduces the reader to the key events that formed the border in the past. It then explains how these historical events resulted in the present form of the Czech border region. The second part of the thesis focuses on the exploration of five different films made after 1990. Selected Czech films are Až do Města Aš (Made in Ash), Mistři (Champions), Habermannův mlýn (Habermann's Mill), the analysed series are Pustina (Wasteland) and Přísahám a slibuji (Spondeo ac polliceor). Movies are analysed through selected means of expression, such as location and environment, acting and characters, camera, shot and cut, lighting and sound component. The Grammar School in Rumburg and its historical development 1906-1989

The bachelor thesis is focused on the Grammar School in Rumburk, its history and education provided there. The town of Rumburk is located in north Bohemia on the border with Saxony. Until 1945 with the population of about 10.000 Rumburk was predominantly a German town. After the end of World War II. majority of German residents were expelled and the town was settled by Czechs from inland. Within few years the town reached the same population as before. The grammar school founded there in 1906 shared the turbulent events with its town including two occupations by foreign armies. During 100 years existence the grammar school has changed its official name fifteen times. With every change of its name came institutional reforms and changes of syllabi as well. And since the Grammar School in Rumburk had to respect regulations of five state departments, the main part of the thesis is preceded by a chapter on grammar schools in Bohemia from their beginnings until 1918.
Max Egon zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg and Czechoslovakia

The thesis analyses prince Max Egon Hohenlohe-Langenburg's relationship to Czechoslovak Republic from its origin to year 1945. It focuses on the issues of prince's role in Czechoslovak politics and his attitudes to all the situations which affected the aristocracy in the 20th century in ČSR - land reform, Sudeten crisis and postwar turn of events. In the first chapter the thesis concentrates on foundation of ČSR and its impact on aristocracy and thus also on prince Max Egon at the time. The second chapter deals with consequences of land reform on property of Hohenlohe-Langenburg's House, the third chapter is about Sudeten German crisis and prince Max Egon's role in it. The last chapter shows aristocracy's situation after year 1945. The author comes to conclusion that the personality of prince Max Egon was very ambiguous - he always tried to get on well with everybody in effort to gain personal profit, and for fear that he could not keep his property in the extent that he had had since the time Hohenlohe- Langenburg's family settled down in current Czech border.
