Svoboda, Martin ; Novotný, David Jan (advisor) ; Štoll, Martin (referee)
This bachelor work follows the occupation of journalism as it is shown in mainstream American cinema throught the sound era of motion pictures. It describes ways mainstream cinema deals with the complexity of journalism as it needs to maintain its rentability of commercial art. The work points out the possibility of essential simplification of the journalism routine caused just by the same need - making profit. Because to make a gainful movie remains to be the main motivation for producers of films. And the profitable movie must be at the first place underestandable for a viewer. In the result of this the work offers some basic archetypes of movie journalist. The next important issue of the work is a professional ethics which can collide with intentions of movie makers which prefer other moral vallues than real news media. The simplification ad profitability can again be a factor. The last part of the work uses all presented informations to trace the way of the influental theatre play The Front Page and its four adaptations throught the decades of movie making. The main goal of the work is to understand the way journalists are portrayted in the mainstream American cinema which offered so many films about them.
Human Life and Philosophy. An Attempt to the Philosophical Interpretation Epicurus' Letter to Menoeceus
Pech, Robin ; Jirsa, Jakub (advisor) ; Thein, Karel (referee)
The Epicurusʼ ethic is the field of interest of this bachelor thesis. Therefore, the one of Epicurusʼ own preserved systematical treatment about ethic, Letter to Menoeceus, provides the textbasis of this work. The analysis of this text shows that usual interpretations of Epicurusʼ ethic are missleading. Epicurus can not be understood as a propagator of some primitive type of hedonism and egoism. The central argumet of this bachelor thesis is that Epicurus should not be taken as a representative and adviser of private and quite apolitical life. Keywords: Epicurus, ethic, philosophy, human life

The Concept of Love in the Epistles of John : Comparison with the Concept of Apostle Paul This thesis concerns the concept of love in John's Epistles. It tries to compare this concept with the way Paul uses the notion of love in his Epistles. It is primarily based on the biblical text, and it gives voice to commentaries in the second plan. Initially, the thesis summarises the development, the situation and the form of the community in John's concept. Subsequently it analyses John's Epistles' language with regard to the Gospel of John and Paul's Epistles. Another part of the thesis studies what were the sources of the author of John's Epistles and how he understood the theology of love which is examined in several points. At first the identity of God is described as the starting point. It is followed by the changed human identity, which puts man into a new situation. Subsequently it is described how does the author understand his own notion of love and what practical conclusions does he draw. The same outline is followed in the description of Paul's understanding of the notion of love. Finally, both concepts are compared and summarised in several points. Problem of responsibility and freedom ROHLENOVÁ, LUCIE. Problem of responsibility and freedom. Praha: Faculty of Education, Charles University, 2012, 69 pp. Diploma Thesis. The diploma thesis will devote to the progress of the phenomenon of the liberty in the modern period from Spinoza to Lévinas. The diploma thesis is mainly based on the major publications of philosophers, B. Spinoza, I. Kant, K. Jaspers, J.-P. Sartre, E. Levinas. The thesis focuses in the terms responsibility and liberty which assume different and more profound meaning in their philosophy. Baruch Spinoza connects the liberty with the independence, with the causal independece. The independent thing is the thing which is the source of own action. In this meaning we can say that only God is independent. Immanuel Kant presented the new dimension of the liberty in ethics which extended the solution of the etical philosophy. The person is the being who constructs the moral word from own liberty and accountable to himself or herself and the other people. Emphasis is placed on Karl Jaspers' major publication The Question of German Guilt. The blame is analysed in this publication and it is classified into four aspects-criminal, political, moral and metaphysical blame. Jeana Paul Sartre is the author of the idea that our body and...
The Concept of the Lawful Freedom in Kant's Political Philosophy
Křížkovský, Matyáš ; Znoj, Milan (advisor) ; Bíba, Jan (referee)
Isaiah Berlin assigned Immanuel Kant to the theorists of positive concept of freedom tradition. This concept is according to him paradoxical, because it starts with the individual's desire to be his own master and ends at disciplination and coercion. The aim of the bachelor thesis "The Concept of the Lawful Freedom in Kant's Political Philosophy" is to explore the extent to which Kant fits to thus defined tradition of positive freedom and whether he isn't exceptional in some way. This thesis will interpret Kant's concept of freedom in broader context of his practical philosophy, focusing on the relationship between morality and law. Krize přirozeného světa The crisis of the Life-world PhDr. Klára Holá This doctoral thesis called The crisis of the Life-world is an interdisciplinary theoretical treatise on a problem of the crisis in connection with the Life-world, the main phenomenological issue. The crisis is related to the Life-world itself. The thesis tries to explain the problem of the crisis as a timeless concept ontologically related to a human being, as well as an ethical issue accompanying the development of the modern society. The aim of the thesis is to define the crisis of the Life-world, to describe its symptoms in the various areas, and to outline some possible solutions. To achieve the aim I have divided the conception of the crisis into two meanings which are related to each other: the ontological crisis and the ethical crisis. My hypothesis has proved the ontological crisis unavoidable, as it springs from the ambivalent position of the human being whereas we can balance the ethical aspects in various ways. I have used the comparative and phenomenological method as well as the phenomenological-hermeneutic methods of the text-interpretation. I also used the specific phenomenological method of transcendental epoché. Therefore, I have preferred the interdisciplinary access to this problem. The access can reveal in the...

From loving a neighbor to loving a man
