Foster care a temporary period

The diploma thesis is focused on the topic of foster care for temporary period. It is the most recent form of substitutional family care in our legal system. It was enacted in 2006 as an intended alternative to infant care institutions. The topic is analysed mainly with respect to current Czech legislation, but the thesis also offers comparison with foreign experience with this institution - specifically with legislation in Great Britain. The thesis is divided into theoretical part and practical part - contained in the last chapter consisting of paraphrased interviews with people who are involved with foster care for temporary period in their profession. The beginning of the thesis summarises the historical background of substitutional care of a child with focus on foster care. The development of foster care is mapped from its very beginning in ancient Greece and Rome up till the recent process of reformation of substitutional family care crowned by the extensive legislative changes, which came into force on 1st January 2014. The second chapter deals with the current internal, EU as well as international legislation of temporary foster care. DIPLOMOVÁ PRÁCE Pěstounská péče na přechodnou dobu Foster care for temporary period Pavla Blatná Abstract This master's thesis focuses on the topic of foster care for temporary period in the context of deinstitutionalization of facilities for children who cannot be part of their biological family. The aim of this work was to map out and describe the system of this form of foster care and to monitor whether there are children in Czech Republic placed into large care facilities who would benefit from another form of foster family care. The introductory part describes the development of paradigms and legislation related to foster care in the Czech Republic. The research part focuses on three areas of questions related to foster care for temporary period. They are questions of practical implications of deinstitutionalization, financial issues related to deinstitutionalization and finally deinstitutionalization as viewed from ethics and democracy perspectives, all related to the context of foster care for temporary period. Each topic is further elaborated with data from research interviews with four professionals of the foster care field.
The Institute of Foster Care on a Temporary Basis From the Perspective of Social Workers of Social and Legal Protection of Children

The main aim of my Master's thesis, is to analyze the experience with foster care on a temporary basis acquired by semi - structured interviews with social workers of social and legal protection of children in northern Bohemia. Furthermore, mapping what positive and difficulties they find of foster care on a temporary basis social workers social and legal protection of children. This Master's thesis gets the reader introduced the theory of attachment, the historical development of family substitute care, the actual system of family substitute care in the Czech Republic, the institute of foster care on a temporary basis, amendment to the Law on social and legal protection of children, acceptance and adaptation of a child in the alternative family environment, roles and competences of a social worker of social and legal protection of children in realization of foster care for a temporary basis. As a method for this thesis was used a qualitative one, the data were obtained by semi - structured interview. At the end of the thesis, the results of the survey are evaluated and presented.
Social construction of temporary foster parents in the Czech print media

The bachelor thesis "Social construction of temporary foster parents in the Czech print media" focuses on how temporary foster parents are constructed in Czech printed media. After the amendment of Act No. 359/1999 Coll. on the socio-legal protection of children in 2013 there was a development of temporary foster care and foster parents were mentioned in the Czech media. However, it is not clear how foster parents sound in them. The message of foster parents in the media is important because the media influence society, but also political decision- making, and the political measures taken are often related to how society perceives the issue. The theory of social construction of target populations and methodological approach of qualitative content analysis with quantitative elements is used in the work to find out the message of foster parents in the media. The aim of this work was to find out the social construction of temporary foster parents and its change in a given time period. Another goal of the work was to include foster parents in the typology of target populations and to explain the manifestation of social construction on the distribution of benefits and burdens for temporary foster parents. Contribution of accompanying organizations to working with foster families

This bachelor thesis deals with the benefits of fostering support for foster families. The aim was to describe the benefits and drawbacks of fostering support from the temporary foster parents' perspective. The theoretical part describes the particular forms of foster family care. Foster care is depicted in more detail. We focus on its legal framework, the mediation process as well as the issues of fostering support. We mention specific behaviors of children in foster family care, such as attachment disorders. The survey was conducted using a method of structured interviews with open-ended questions. The research group consisted of six temporary foster mothers living in Prague. The research questions were answered. Interviewed foster mothers see most often the benefits of accompanying in the human support they receive from the key social workers. They also mentioned the essential role of support from family and friends. There are some drawbacks in the fostering support in a few sporadic cases, such as unsatisfactory educational topics or the absence of assistance from the organization. Foster parents are oftend burdened by inadequate financial support from the state or the work of courts and authorities.

Preparation of fosters parents for a temporary period - from fosters parents perspective

The present thesis deals with the process of preparation for a temporary foster care. The aim of the thesis is to reflect on foster parent's personal experience and their preparation process. Specifically, the work focuses on various issues during the preparation process, its usefulness and the impact on their personal and family life. The theoretical part deals with the system of foster care. Furthermore, we will look at the temporary foster care itself, its inclusion in the system of foster care, and a special emphasis will be placed on the system of preparation for foster parents. In the practical part we will analyze and interpret the data of qualitative research which was carried out using the method of semi-structured interviews. Despite some shortcomings in preparation, such as the lack of practical information or the approach of lecturers, the research showed that the respondents perceived the preparation as beneficial. Above all, they appreciated the introduction to the issue, in harmony with professionals, or in self-experience. The story of temporary foster care mother: proposals for system improvements

This thesis is a qualitative probe into the story of a temporary foster mother. The thesis captures, analyses and classifies this story into systemic context. It does so with an emphasis on the temporary foster mother's personal experience and also with using personal experience of other participants involved in this particular case - including mine. This thesis is largely a reflection of my own role in this story, it is looking at it from different perspectives that evolve over time. The thesis is grounded in theoretical sources, especially methodologies of temporary foster care and methodological recommendations. Theoretical sources are critically viewed and connected to personal experience. The resulting storytelling, which provides an insight into the wider context of temporary foster care in the Czech Republic, was based on this procedure. Capturing systemic context is used in this thesis to create suggestions for possible systemic improvements.
Short-term foster care - a chance for unwanted newborn.

The thesis gives comprehensive information on the issue of unwanted pregnancy, which is closely related with the system of substitute child care. The key theme of thesis is temporary foster care, representing substitute family care as an alternative to institutional care. It is short- term form of care, which is usable with children, who are likely to be placed in some form of permanent care. Those children could be returned to their biological family, or could be adopted by surrogate parents. In theoretical part of thesis it is also shown an influence of foster care on psychomotor and emotional development of child. Thus, influence of institutional care or family care on the future life of unwanted children. The aim of thesis was to find out, either or not the temporary foster care brings child benefits or traumas. The practical part consists of casuistry of boy, unwanted by his mother, who was entrusted to temporary foster care for the couple of months. The information is based on court's files, medical reports, interviews with foster parents and adoptive parents, and boy's visits in both families. The results of observation of child's development in substitute care are compared with the relevant literature and with results of child's medical examinations performed during the temporary foster...
