Implementation procedures of editors during the preparation news reports on ČT24 during a coronavirus pandemic

The diploma thesis deals with changes in routines of the daily news editor in ČT24 news channel. It focuses in particular on the changes in the work of news reporters and editors in connection with the spread of a new type of coronavirus in the first half of 2020. In the first part presents a basic definition of news reporting, focusing in particular on television news. It then looks at the introduction of the new type of coronavirus and the start of the global pandemic. The methodology part is devoted to defining the aim of the thesis and the research questions. The empirical part offers the characteristics of the news station ČT24. It describes the circumstances of its creation, the program scheme and introduces the editor of the daily news. It defines his position and working practices during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic. To do this, it uses the method of observation and informal interviews with nine Czech Television news staff members as part of a qualitative investigation. The analytical part presents a content analysis of selected news reports during the period under study. Finally, the author summarises and discusses her findings.
How the Generation Z Consumes News on Social Media

This bachelor thesis aims to examine how the Generation Z receives news from social media in the Czech Republic. Using a qualitative research method, focus groups find out the reasons for this group to use social media as a source of news, describe how Generation Z evaluates the news contribution and how it handles it and the information from it then. The first part of the thesis gives an insight into the knowledge of news on social media (specifically Facebook and Instagram) and explains the main features of Generation Z; especially in relation to information and technology. Subsequently, the research method of semi-structured interviews is presented, which served as a preliminary research for the main technique of researching focus groups. This method is also explained in detail in the methodological part. The study group of 24 respondents was divided into three samples according to age; 16 and 17 years, 18 and 19 years, 20 to 24 years. The results are presented as a selection of significant participants' statements across groups. Although group interviews operate more specifically with the participants' specific statements, some generalization and the resulting understanding of Generation Z behavior is possible. The way CNN Prima News is perceived as a new news channel by the Czech audience

This thesis focuses on the viewer reception of the CNN Prima NEWS news station. The aim of the research is to gain insight into the viewing patterns and routines that are repeated when watching this station. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the main studies on the topic with reference to experts and then introduces the CNN Prima NEWS station along with the viewership data. The next part of the thesis then discusses the methodology that was used for data collection and analysis in this research. The results of the thesis are obtained by using not only the viewership data but also a questionnaire survey and semi-structured interviews with a selected sample of respondents who watch the station. This research was conducted with the respondents in the spring of 2022. The data collected during the research is then analysed and categorized to make the thesis as close to its objective as possible. Several findings have emerged that provide a better understanding of how Czech viewers perceive CNN Prima NEWS. The thesis also includes appendices with the results of the questionnaire survey and transcripts of semi-structured interviews.
Covid news of on-line media during the first strifke of an epidemic in the Czech Republic

This thesis focus to research how selected online media informed about the first wave of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 epidemic in the Czech Republic. Specifically, this thesis focus on the signs of media panic (hysteria) in the news pieces of selected media, their frequency, proportion and manner of use. The media's content was analyzed by content analysis and some of this content was then analysed by discursive analysis. The research showed that the coverage of the spread of coronavirus dominated the media space. All selected media used elements of media panic in their news pieces, which could have effect society. The research further showed that in the use of these elements, there was not a hypothetical difference between the tabloid media and the self-declared serious media.
The motivation of participatory journalists in czech TV news programme

The following Master's thesis is focused on participatory journalism. Participatory journalism has become an interesting and important part of media production since the invention of Web 2.0. In recent years, the concept of listeners and viewers creating professional news has been used by radio, television and online media all over the world, including Czech television and its ČT24 news programme. Czech TV launched a project called iReportér in 2015. People can send photos or videos of what is happening around them through a mobile application or a website. These materials, checked by editors, may be later used in a broadcast, on the website or on Czech TV social media profiles. The theoretical part of the thesis will explain main concepts necessary for understanding how participatory journalism works. For example, what is convergence, who are the produsers, what is Web 1.0., 2.0. and 3.0. It will describe what the advantages of participatory journalism are and how it is different from citizen journalism. One section will focus on ethics and another on examples of participatory journalism projects abroad and in the Czech Republic. The bachelor's thesis "Disinformation narratives in the Czech cyberspace in regarding the vaccination against COVID-19" in the context of the phenomenon of misleading, false or pseudo news deals with the way of the news media informing in the Czech environment combined with interpretation of not only these messages by non-professional social network users. The aim of the thesis is to find out whether there is a real correlation between professional and nonprofessional content in the same relevant period. In the theoretical part, emphasis is placed on a sufficient and, above all, comprehensible definition of terms related to the issue of information disorders, including the ordering of individual terms. In the first part of the work, facts are based on relevant sources of internal and foreign literature. In the second part of the work, I present the research background, including hypotheses and research questions. Media image of migrant women on the Czech news websites Aktuálně.cz and iRozhlas.cz

This bachelor thesis focuses on the media image of migrant women on the Czech news websites Aktuálně.cz and iRozhlas.cz. The current situation in Ukraine proves the relevance of the topic of the thesis, which aims to find out what image of migrant women is created by these media, which present themselves as free and independent. At the same time, these news websites are public policy actors that influence the development of migration policy in the Czech Republic. As the thesis deals with the specific characteristics, contexts and connotations in which migrant women are mentioned in relation to migrant women, the method used is a qualitative content analysis of online media articles in the time period from the beginning of 2019 to the end of 2021. The content is coded and assigned to the relevant categories, which subsequently creates a closer picture of migrant women. For example, the work finds that media coverage of refugee women in foreign settings is most frequent. Furthermore, migrant women are portrayed predominantly as victims and heroines of refugee processes. Texts are devoted to personal stories and connotations of sympathy and admiration. Thesis Media Image of the Government in 2012 is studying how media informed about the political issues within the researched period. Quantitative content analysis through daily newspapers Právo and Lidové noviny in 2012 was used. Theoretical part of the study is focused on the role of media in news reporting, news creation and influences that goes from media organizations and journalist's job. Corresponding theoretical concepts such as news values, accessibility of media, political communication, framing, agenda setting and journalist routines are mentioned. Practical part takes from various foreign research papers that deal with the similar topic. The goal of quantitative content analysis is to gain information on how media portrayed the government in 2012. It also looks at which sources were used and what topics were discussed.
