Bobák, Alexander ; Marcelli, Miroslav (advisor) ; Švantner, Martin (referee)
This thesis analyzes the position of the author in the environment of internet. The main source of information for this thesis is the study of Roland Barthes - Death of the Author and the lecture of Michel Foucault - What is an author? After a thorough analysis of these two works, the thesis focuses on the description of the webpage www.pismak.cz, which has been selected as a suitable representative for environment of internet. This website allows us to study and explore the role and place of the author. I tried to describe the position of the author on this website. Mainly the fact, that every user of this website uses a pseudonym - nick. The work also presents new insights into the phenomenon of internet anonymity, based on the information gathered from current scientific articles. At the end I compare my own analysis with theories of Roland Barthes and Michel Foucault. The thesis concludes, that works of Roland Barthes and Michel Foucault are still valid, even when compared with modern phenomenon - internet.

Procházková, Pavlína ; Vochocová, Lenka (advisor) ; Švelch, Jaroslav (referee)
This thesis explores how the presence of authors on social media sites influences the way that fans perceive their work. The main goal of the analytical part was to determine, whether and primarily how the presence of an author on social media sites changes the relationships of readers with a complete (and therefore no longer open) text, as put forth by Roland Barthes in his The Death of the Author essay. The theoretical part of the thesis starts out by exploring the historical evolution of what an author is, differentiating between time periods and dominant theoretical approaches, with focus on postmodern authors such as Roland Barthes or Michel Foucault. The theory then focuses on the digital revolution, technological determinism and the rise of social media influence, including its impact on literary marketing and the concept of the celebrity author. Lastly, the theory summarizes studies that analyze the relationship between fan communities and current authors, specifically when it comes to the authors and their social media presence, focusing on the Harry Potter fan community and J. K. Rowling. The analysis itself is done through looking at semi-structured interviews conducted with fans of the Harry Potter saga. The analysis begins with focusing on the early relationships of fans with the saga,...
Preface as Nietzsche's authorial strategy
Vavřinová, Michaela ; Chavalka, Jakub (advisor) ; Novák, Aleš (referee)
The thesis deals with prefaces to the works of Friedrich Nietzsche, especially with those he wrote retrospectively. The goal of the thesis is to state what purposes Nietzsche meant to achieve with his prefaces and what literary strategies he used to achieve these purposes. The core assumption of the thesis is that Nietzsche decided to utilize his copyright and used his prefaces as a means to establish himself as an author. My approach is based on 20th century literary theories dealing with the concept of "the author" and on approaching the preface as a self-contained genre. Aside from the various literary strategies Nietzsche used in his prefaces, I will also focus on the work Ecce Homo treating it as one great preface to the whole lifework of Nietzsche. Keywords: Nietzsche, author, reader, authorial strategies, preface, author's posture
The Concept of a Work in Copyright Law
Tuláček, Jan ; Kříž, Jan (advisor) ; Srstka, Jiří (referee) ; Dobřichovský, Tomáš (referee)
132 The Concept of a Work in Copyright Law Abstract The theme of the work is the author's creation , it's concept in the legal definition and further in the meta-legal sense,ie as defined by the authors's work of art,on the one hand by artists ,on the other by artistic institutions . And, the related delimitation of this concept,it's limits or extensions. On the one hand ,the concept of an author's work seems to be expanding in practice,on the other hand, it narrows,as i will explain. This means that I must first take a closer look at the concept of a work in the sense of copyright law.It is a central concept of the entire copyright law, however ,and perhaps because of this, its definition under this law is very vague. After the introduction ,where I tried to think about the definition and practical possibilities of legal science ,in the 1 Chapter I deal with the legal definition of the concept of the work in general and then the concept of the author's work. I think its legal definition, to a certain extent, revolves around a circle, the author 's work is the result of the author's creative activity and the author is the person creating the author's work. It doesn't make much sense.and historically However, this corresponds to the definition according to the authors convention and historically the definition is...
Copyright protection of architectural work, current development trends
Güttlerová, Alice ; Žikovská, Petra (advisor) ; Křesťanová, Veronika (referee)
Title of thesis Copyright protectionof architectural work, current developmental trends Abstract This thesis explores the concept and protectionof architectural work and developmental trends in this legal area in the Czech Republic with respect to the valid copyright legislation. Architectural work is a work expressedthrough an architectural drawing, study, project documentation or a model, whereas in the absolute majority of cases the building itself is a reproduction of the architectural work. Subsequently, architectural work in the form of a building cannot be equated to the legislative term of architectural work in the sense of the copyright law. The work may be protected as architectural work only in the case that it fulfills the conceptual traits of author's work stipulated by the copyright law. These are defined both positively as well as negatively whereas the copyright law exempts some author's work from the copyright protection.Accordingtothe copyright law architectural workis definedas unique work of art which is the result of the creative work of an author and is expressed in an objectively perceivable form. Copyright therefore does not protect architectural ideas (concepts, notions) as such, but only their outer expression. The value of the work and its social significance is not decisive for the...
Author and code
Kreuzzieger, Milan
Chapter is based on the assumption that each historical period is related to a particular stage of technological development, and to a specific means of visual representation. From this perspective it looks at how media relate to the concept of the author, and at the need for a new understanding of the artist’s role, including shifts in the definitions of art and our uderstanding of an artwork. Art projects by Federico Díaz and Jakub Jansa are presented as examples.
