Media (self)presentation of selected representatives of the CPC between years 1967 - 1969
Suchá, Veronika ; Končelík, Jakub (advisor) ; Vondrová, Jitka (referee)
The name of this thesis is Media (Self) presentation of selected representatives of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (CPC) between the years 1967 and 1969. The crisis in the political system, which happened between the years 1967 and 1969 in Czechoslovakia, changed the social role of the media. The media became an active element of democratic plurality for a short time. The relationship between political authorities and the media changed too. The CPC power monopoly in the sphere of media was disturbed. During the period after the military invasion of to Czechoslovakia (August 1968) by the Soviet Union the media and journalist returned to the old ways of operating. This work tries to answer to few essential questions: Are there some differences among media self presentation of the leaders of the CPC? Were Czechoslovakian politicians prepared to cooperate with a truly independent and strong media? Were they able to use the media to really have a dialogue with the public? Media educationin the family
Cigánková, Klára ; Wolák, Radim (advisor) ; Šťastná, Lucie (referee)
The master thesis "Media education in the family" discusses media education strategies of parents, or, in other words, parental mediation. This discussion is important because the family, in addition to the school system, is largely responsible for influencing the media literacy of children. The theoretical section of this thesis sums up how this topic was processed in foreign and Czech studies, and describes the main characteristics of parental mediation. Media education strategies of parents are also assessed in connection with the socialization of the child, and with the education and communication styles in family. Frequently, studies describe three types of parental mediation, which are: active mediation, restrictive mediation and social co-viewing. Although these types of mediation were defined mostly in connection with the viewing of television programs, it is possible to transfer these types, with small changes, on to other media, including the internet. The practical part of this thesis contains a qualitative analysis of in-depth interviews with parents who have children between the ages of 12 and 15. The goal of this analysis was to find out what parents think of the relationship between children and media, which strategies of parental mediation they are using, and which conditions and...

Media Presentation of the Pope Benedict XVI.
Pániková, Klára ; Češka, Jakub (advisor) ; Fulka, Josef (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyse the media presentation of the Pope Benedict XVI. in the Czech press. We arise from the assumtion that the way the Czech press writes about the present Pope is set by a certain discourse. That is why we use the method of dicourse analysis designed by Michel Foucault. Having carefully analysed altogether 690 articles from selected newspapers and magazines published between 02/04/2005 and 31/12/2007 we reached a number of fragmental results which in the end turned to be the parts of the searched for discourse. In so doing some hidden motives, which seem to form an esential part of the media presentation of the Pope Benedict XVI., emerged. Along with that the absence of the journalists' ability to assess the proper meaning of some words or to lay proper stresses appeared too. As this thesis brings out, the journalists are at the same time impossible to take a step forward in this as their way of thinking about the Pope is set by the discourse (that they themselves first created). So, we came to the conclusion that the media presentation of the Pope Benedict XVI. is influenced by, e.g. stereotypes we Czechs have about the German nationality or artificially (by journalists) connected events in Benedict's life. We also show that the present Pope is a very good object of...

Média ve válce
Jarlbro, Olof ; Silverio, Robert (advisor) ; Kolář, Viktor (referee)
Když US armáda napadla Panamu, již poučena z předchozích chyb, dovolila médiím "nahlédnout" do války, způsobem jakým vyhovovalo armádě.
