Management tools utilization for disclosing firm's constraints
Grégr, Jiří ; Chocholatý, Drahomír (advisor) ; Volráb, Ondřej (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on the use of management tools and practices specialized in finding organizations constraints that limit their performance and make it impossible to effectively achieve their goal. The tools can be divided into static ones that describe relationships between causes and their effects using causal relations and dynamic ones that are oriented on cyclical relations that appear in periods. Although those dynamic tools are not suitable enough for validating causal relations they can better visualize these relations in time. Both of the tools are based on the principle that the user has to change the way of thinking when looking for undesirable effects in the system. The theoretical part of the thesis is extended by Greiner growth model that describes growth phases of organizations and typical problems that appear in each phase. Thus this model can be used to help uncover causes of organizations constraints. Practical part of the thesis is focused on application of the tools and on finding the main constraint in a small software company. It is divided into a few parts: company description, proposal of requirement collection and its implementation, description of relationships between the company and external systems, proposal of an improvement of a notation that is used for diagramming current state of problems in a company, diagramming the current reality tree and finding the main constraint. The contribution of the thesis lies in depicting advantages and disadvantages of the tools used for finding company constraints and in application of one of the tools including the proposal of improvement. The conclusion includes recommendations for improvement implementation that help to eliminate main company constraint and increase the system performance.

Object-relational mapping on .NET
Popelka, Aleš ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (advisor) ; Machač, Ivo (referee)
This study concerns the theme of object-relational mapping on the .NET platform. It briefly explains the differences in the relational and object view on data a therefore it describes design patterns which are in object-relational mapping vastly applied. These design patterns are described in order to inform the reader about their advantages as also disadvantages and they are commonly depicted with an elementary illustration. The description of the design patterns is followed with a specification of the .NET framework and other elements (e.g Visual Studio 2008), which are essential to define for further progress in this study. The specification concludes into description of four products, which serve as modelers and generators of the object-relational mapping layer. The goal of this study is to provide a view of the object-relational impedance mismatch issue, means of its solution to the reader and help him with eventual need to invest into products which aid in object-relational mapping on .NET. For potential need to invest in other products than those which are tested in this study is the reader supplied with well-formed rating criteria which are, in my opinion, ready for being standardised. These goals are achieved by generating the mapping layer with all four tested products and description of the mapping process and the layer afterwards.

The Use of Audio-visual Technology in Civics Classes

The Picture as a Phenomenon
Universalová, Jana ; Kornatovský, Jiří (advisor) ; Cikánová, Karla (referee)
My thesis consists of three parts: the practical, the theoretical and the didactic part. In the practical part I represent my own work, which examines the phenomenon of the pictures using pictures of one persone. By other words I represent my personal conception. I unrestand picture as something that stands at the begining of the work and can be expresed by depiction. The practical part became the starting point for the following parts. In the theoretical part I look for connections between my Picture and Pictures of the Czech artists. By other words I look for some resemblance between them. The third part deals with my pedagogical activities. An important intention of my thesis is not only the view of my work, or my own self-reflection and a way of searching for relations to the art. But especially the afford to use my inspiration in the pedagogical activitiy. I verify the possibility of using my own inspiration at school with the students of secondary schools. The key words: picture, visualization, art, nature, movement, line, drawing, transcript, creative proces, communication, education

Image as a New Type of Reality
Aimová, Irena ; Bystřický, Jiří (advisor) ; Petříček, Miroslav (referee)
The text deals with the problem of the image and focuses mainly on evolution of different techniques of depiction and on transforming forms of visual representations. Images have a considerable impact on individuals and society because they can affect our ways of thinking and acting. They can also work as modes and schemes of visual perception and thus constitute our "image" of reality. Particular emphasis is given to contemporary transformation of the nature and function of images, as well as modes of reception related to new advances in communication technologies.

"Two women, two entirely different lifestyles." : analysis of the woman's role construction in the Wife Swap reality show
Jelínková, Blanka ; Reifová, Irena (advisor) ; Řeháčková, Dana (referee)
Equal opportunities of women and men is a very complex issue that is a central interest of many nonprofit organizations (e. g. Gender Studies, ProFem etc.). In diverse fields of our everyday life, we can witness the complexity of common day gender issues, including, but definetely not limited to our labour market and law areas. Also, the media domain is constantly providing a source for us to personally visualize and analyze these various gender concepts. In correspondence with an alternative paradigm we assume, media is a very powerful tool that can maintain traditional gender stereotypes in society. But, as powerful as the media can be in maintaining these traditional stereotypes, they are just as capable to deconstruct them and instill a fresher view. We want to reveal if gender stereotypes truly do exist in the reality TV show Wife Swap. The main goal of our work is to show how the woman's role was created for her, and what it had to consist of in this reality show, and whether the traditional concepts are seen in the filming's end product. Although the men's role is in this show also very important, it is mediocre relative to the wife's role. With use of a qualitative research method - the grounded theory, we examined all fifteen parts of the first season of this show. We paid special attention to...

Image transformation of czechoslovakian pilots in selected czech films
Janů, Adéla ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Suk, Pavel (referee)
This thesis analyses image of Czechoslovakian pilots in local film production. It focuses on films about pilots from Second World War and pilots from Czechoslovak people's army. The aim of thesis is to define main characteristics of military pilots in selected films and compare their transformation through time. Analytic part will use visual, semiotic, discursive and narrative analysis concept as theoretical framework. Thesis works on the presumption that image transformation was highly influenced by historical and political development of country. It assumes that pilots from Second World War were portrayed positively in late 1960s and after year 1989 and pilots from Czechoslovak people's army were favored in era of normalization, particularly in 1970s and 1980s.
