Mirror neurons and language in schizophrenia
Bendová, Marie ; Kulišťák, Petr (advisor) ; Loneková, Katarína (referee)
Mirror neurons are a specific kind of visuomotor neurons that are involved in action execution and also in action perception. The mirror mechanism is linked to a variety of complex psychological functions such as social-cognitive functions and language. People with schizophrenia have often difficulties both in mirror neuron system and in language skills. In the first part of our research we studied the connectivity of mirror neuron areas (such as IFG, STG, PMC, SMC and so on) by fMRI in resting state and the differences between a group of patients during first episode psychosis and a group of healthy controls. The second part of our research was dedicated to language: if there are specific activations in certain parts of the cortex (such as SMC, Broca's and Wernicke's areas) along with a specific meaning of the word stimuli and if these activations are disrupted in patients with schizophrenia. The first part of the research showed a significant difference in the mirror neuron system connectivity between these two groups. The patients had stronger connections between the thalamus (which mediates sensory information) and the cortical areas while the controls had the cortical areas more interconnected. The second part of our research, a language experiment, showed significant differences between the...
Visual experince as example and pattern in relation to the expansion and influence into human life
Nohejl, Jiří ; Wittlich, Filip (referee)
The main theme of this dissertation is to define an image as a visual experience. The human interaction is described by the author himself as a perception of the image, which serves as an information unit that could be presented as a possibility, example and pattern for the individual. There is an emphasis on the process of perception itself and on the way of interaction of an individual emphasizing the context of social learning and imitation in this text. The analysis of the principles of this interaction leading into introduction of the partial interactive models covering these processes is formed by the essential plane. The structure of the thesis is divided into ten main chapters in which the author tries to introduce a category of perception, a definition of the image and imitation as a tool of cultural transmission, presentation of the units of this transmission, the process of the interaction itself and analogous example of the fundamental role that a person in this interaction holds. There are also three analogies of these roles, which refer to the anthropological universal interaction describing the man as a gatherer and hunter. Their main purpose is to illustrate the form of a human experience better. Finally, there are reflections on the topic above. The possibilities and results, which...

Use of mirror neurons in rehabilitation of upper extremities in patients after stroke
Dedja, Fregen ; Čakrt, Ondřej (advisor) ; Mareš, Pavel (referee)
The aim of this thesis "Use of mirror neurons in rehabilitation of upper extremities in patients after stroke" is to conduct basic information related to issues like stroke and use of mirror neurons in rehabilitation of upper extremities. In this review I would like to present data on mirror neurons, that appear to play a fundamental role in both action understanding, imitation and movement. I would like to stress, in particular, those properties specific to the human mirror neurons, that might explain the human capacity to learn by imitation. This thesis consists of three parts. General part contains a general overview of stroke problematics, and its pathology, symptoms, course, diagnosis and therapy. The special part of this thesis explains the function of mirror neurons and their use in rehabilitation of upper extremities in patients after stroke. The thesis includes a case in which the examination and the therapy suggested by the author tries prove that mirror neurons can be part of the rehabilitation process. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Neuromarketing and it´s application when working with Mary Kay.
Šetková, Lenka ; Chylíková, Hana (advisor) ; Steinerová, Karolína (referee)
This thesis introduces neuromarketing as a new form of highly effective marketing. Theoretical part describes the selected tools for measuring brain's activity, fundamental terms in neuromarketing, mirrors neurons, soma markers. Mentioned are also subliminal messages. Further, attention is paid to describe some of the differences between male and female brain. Practical part of this thesis introduces the company and brand Mary Kay, including global marketing activities. Then, it contains analysis of brand positioning on the Czech market, evaluating of the current marketing activities of Independent Beauty Consultant and a proposal for improvement (of marketing activities) and increase in sales volume.
Contemporary trends in the field of mirror neurons
ŠLAJSOVÁ, Kristýna
This bachelor thesis will discuss the extensive area of mirror neurons. Conception of the thesis is rather theoretical; the thesis is led like a survey study and also contains a research from a variety of foreign languages sources. The thesis provides an insight into the solid subject of mirror neurons and their psychological aspects. These aspects deal with the theory of the mirror neurons in a context of a mother child relations, language and speech, cultural differences, emotions and imitation. Next is the chapter about psychotherapy. The other implications of this thesis are clinical applications that explain selected mental and neurological disorders and their therapeutic uses. The thesis will then follow a treatise, which explains principles of art at a neuropsychological base. As well, there will be a chapter focusing on the activation of the mirror neurons at a consumer individual, which describes the newly developing area of neuroeconomics. Next part of the thesis describes the role of the mirror neurons in the area of sports.
Neuromarketing
Brtník, Adam ; Pešek, Ondřej (advisor) ; Zamazalová, Marcela (referee)
The topic of the work is new marketing disipline -- neuromarketing. In the first half there is description of functional magnetic resonance and electroencephalography and their use in neuromarketing. There are also basic principles of brain functions -- brain parts, the way the old brain communicates with the surroundings a importace of all human senses. In the second half of the work thre are mentioned phenomenons of priming and mirroring. At the end of the work is mentioned brainethics and possibilities of neuromarketing abuse.
From the Brain in the Vat and Turing Test Towards Humanid Cognitive System
Wiedermann, Jiří
The modern theory of artificial cognitive systems sees these systems as autonomous embodied computational systems that situate themselves in the environment with the help of their sensomotoric units. Still, within the circles of computer theorists one can repeatedly hear an opinion that in principle cognition can be seen as a specific sort of computation and therefore one need not resort to embodiment in order to understand the nature of cognitive processes. We show that such a simplified view misses an essential part of cognitive systems – namely their active influencing the choice or even generation of their inputs.
