Mikhail Bulgakov on the crossroad of prose and theatre way: novel Belaya gvardia and play Dni Turbinykh
Zgoda, Yaroslavna ; Hlaváček, Antonín (advisor) ; Hříbková, Radka (referee)
Mikhail Bulgakov has won the most acknowledgeable position in the world literature of the twentieth century among the Russian writers. His recognition is marked by the steep rise of interest in his works. Nevertheless the difficulty arises in the interpretation and understanding of many diverse associations and signs, which were determined to draw the reader's attention and to calm the anger of the official censorship. His novel "The White Guard" and the play "The days of the Turbins" put a particular stress on the situation of the White movement in 1918 in Kiev. It is all shown through the difficult decisions and choices of the Turbin family, which try to save the old values. The whole revolutionary atmosphere reflects the uncertainties of the historical period. There are many allusions, which describe the burning issues of the time. The meeting of the three coloured forces - white, yellow-blue and red - led to the tragic ending on the crossroads of the historical maze. Bulgakov masterly described everything he witnessed in prose and then brought it to the stage. The process was long and his creativity was marked by the censorship intrusion, which underlines the importance of the topic.

Establishing a Shared Service Centre in the Czech Republic
Nguyen Ngoc, Huong ; Pichanič, Mikuláš (advisor) ; Sixta, Jaroslav (referee)
The Thesis is conducted based on analysis of a business shared service centre, all factors to consider before the establishment, its scope, model, and the most important is to see advantages as well as to realize the shortcomings of this kind of business model. The country which is analyzed is the Czech Republic; more particular is the city of Prague; and the company is SAP Business Service Centre of Europe (BSCE). In this Thesis, first of all, the PEST (Political, Economic, Social and Technology) environmental analysis has been conducted. The work continues with the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis of the company SAP AG, from which, we can see that opening a SAP BSCE is a part of SAP strategy which supposes to benefit the company. In order to establish the BSCE, the SAP management board has to consider the factors such as Organization, People, Processes and IT Infrastructure. After analyzing approximately 20 cities in Europe, SAP has chosen Prague as the best mix of quality and costs factors. SAP BSCE covers the functions of Human Resource and Finance and Administration, which provide services to internal and external customers of many countries in Europe, Middle East, and Africa. SAP BSCE has brought back many advantages such as cost-savings, high quality service, business availability and flexibility, and business transparency and legal compliance. On the other hand, there are still many short-comings, such as the high turn-over rate of staff, difficulties in harmonization and standardization of processes and IT infrastructure, and how to prove the quality of service. Despite these challenges, SAP BSCE has put efforts into trying to overcome these problems. At the end of the Thesis, as per analysis of SAP financial results of business activities during the crisis, it is proven the setting up a shared service centre was a good decision of SAP and it paid off with the contribution to help SAP overcome the impacts of crisis.

Aldous Huxley's early novels of ideas: from Crome Yellow to Those Barren Leaves
Renner, Luboš ; Hilský, Martin (referee) ; Procházka, Martin (advisor)
The literary reputation of Aldous Huxley, the novelist, has scarcely ever been as good as that of Aldous Huxley, the essayist. In fact, as some critics claim, Huxley's novels have the crucial flaw of not being proper novels at all - they are (the critics say) 1 actually essays, some of them more skillfully dramatized than others. Whether the novels really suffer from their essayistic quality is a question to be answered by the reader; certain it is, though, that mixing the two genres, the novel and the essay, was Huxley's intention: As he once acknowledged in an interview, his aim as a novelist was ~to arrive, technically, at a perfect fusion of the novel and the essay"z. What are the main features of a Huxleyan essayistic novel? First , it is scarcity of plo t. In most Huxley' s novels nothing ever happens: people come and go, they meet and part, they (try to) make love, and - most importantly - they talk. This is, of course, true especially of Huxley's early conversation novels, a late novel like Ap e and E s s en c e probably being the most noticeable exception. Another aspect of the essayistic novel follows on the first. The scarce plot does not lead to any overall des i g n ; the novels end, as it were, in the middle of 'action'; there seems to be no single 'message' to be arrived at. Again, this...

Graphemics in the German documents of Václav IV 1379-1399
Bartůňková, Alena ; Ebelová, Ivana (referee) ; Vodrážková, Lenka (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is twofold. On the one hand I try to determine a system in the use of the graphemes in the documents of Vac1av IV. from the years 1379-1399 and I confront the findings with the use of the graphemes in the Middle Upper German (Mittelhochdeutsch). On the other hand, I compare these results with the use ofthe graphemes in the early Upper German (Frühneuhochdeutsch) as described in the literature, in particular in 1. T. Piirainen, V. Moser, H.Bokova, L.E. Schmitt and V.E. Mourek. The first chapter describes the period of reign of Vac1av IV as weIl as the personality ofthe ruler. The second chapter deals with the court ofVac1av IV. with a particular emphasis on the language situation at the court. Further, Vac1av IV.'s chancellery is characterized in the chapter three as apart of the court and I also shortly describe its history, structure as weIl as the competence of its members. Chapter five is devoted to documents as objects of a study; thus, first I define and c1assify different types of docurnents and second, I indicate the relevant features both in the form of the document and its content. The next chapter describes the status of the early Upper German (Fruhneuhochdeutsch) as it emerges from the literature. The seventh chapter lists the documents of Vac1av IV. between the years 13...

Life without a father: gain and loss
Rašínová, Iva ; Šírová, Eva (referee) ; Drlíková, Eva (advisor)
The number of fatherless families has risen radically due to a high divorce rate and rigid court decisions about custody over children after divorce. Over the last few decades, psychological findings highlight specific contribution of the father to the development of a child. Fatherless families have been focused on by many researchers, trying to identify fields of negative impact of growing up without a father. However, the results are mixed and do not give clear answers, one of the main reasons being the methodological difficulty to control all the important variables such as reason and duration of the father's absence ar availability of surrogate male models. In this study we propose to identify cue areas that absent-father-people view as specific both in a positive and negative sense. The grounded theory method was used to analyze the data gathered by open interviews with people who have never lived with a father or a father surrogate. The following categaries revealed by a coding process are discussed - partner relationships (especially of girls), locus of control, personality of the mother and her educational style and impact of broader family or community.

Poverty, foreign aid and self-help
Jonáš, David ; Chalupníček, Pavel (advisor) ; Mládek, Josef (referee)
This diploma work analyzes two different approaches to "fight" poverty -- foreign development aid and self-help in communities. First part is concerned with international poverty and its dimensions. Second part concerns with ideas, background theories, goals and adverse effects of foreign aid. As an alternative to foreign aid, self-help in communities is analyzed in next part, with its advantages and shortcomings. The two approaches to development are tested on Kenya's example. Major task of this work is to compare the two concepts and try to decide which one conducts better in development. Outcome of this work suggests that foreign development aid fails to fulfill its goals and has many adverse effects on a recipient country (including Kenya). On the other hand, self-help has usually direct impact on conditions in which poor people are living, therefore is more effective in figthting poverty.
