Change in the perspective of discourse analysis
Zábrodská, Kateřina ; Snopek, M. ; Sedláček, L. ; Chmelařová, H. ; Kobes, T.
Discourse analysis represents a relatively new field of social scientific theory and research, which studies the constitutive effects of discourses and discursive practices. In psychology, its focus is mainly on the re/production of subjectivity. This paper introduces the possibilities of application of discourse analysis to the study of the varied relationship between discourse and change. The emphasis is put on the longitudinal, ontogenetic and social perspectives. The paper is an outcome of a collaborative effort of the authors who practice Foucauldian discourse analysis and critical discourse analysis. Their research on gender relations (gender subjectivity, asexuality, fatherhood) and ethnicity (the connotative meanings of ‘Gypsy’ ) represents different, yet compatible and mutually enriching conceptualizations of change.

Tomášek, Vojtěch ; Mikulec, Jiří (referee) ; Šedivá Koldinská, Marie (advisor)
This study deals with a two terms used in the context of culture and social history: the preacher and the exemplum. We depart from six Czech ear1y modem sermons published in the 17th and 18th century, especially from specific parts of them, those in which we can find those short moralizing stories, exempla. We analyse exemplum in its oral form as an communicative point between the preacher and his audience in the larger context of communication between a scholar and popular culture. Here we present sermonic exemplum as a specific type of ear1y modem medium. This study would attempt to outline some features of this communicative situation, especially preacher' s tendency to reform and discipline some aspects of everyday life in his community, that is everyday common problems of man and woman, problems of distributing gender roles and interconnected problems of drinking, domestic violence and sexuality. We have found two specific ways of communication preacher uses in exemplum: direct satire and tendentional description of ritua1. Speaking of the second one we expose the specific method, by which our preacher tries to change positive meaning of traditional ritual into the negative one. Therefore we c1aim that preacher wants to persuade his audience of absurdity inherent to use of some medical or magical...

Gender Analysis of Four Fairy Tale Stories for Children.
Vodrlindová, Petra ; Knotková - Čapková, Blanka (advisor) ; Heczková, Libuše (referee)
In my thesis, I focus on gender analysis of fairy tale stories for children. Fairy tales are generally perceived as a world of fantasy where the boundaries outlining the categories of social structure are transgressed. Most of the traditional fairy tales sustain the traditional gender structure. These fairy tales construct the normative gender roles and identities, which can help reproduce existing gender order. In this sense fairy tales represent the way of reproduction of gender inequalities in the society.

The problem of hazardous behavior with children, adolescents or young people is very real, not only in the Czech Republic, but all over the world, at prezent, it is a worldwide problem representing a substantial social problem with which many specialists in the field of psychologists, psychiatrics, educators, politics and other participating institucions, World Health Organization, are dealing. The Publisher results of research are pointing to a non- decreasing occurrence of hazardous behavior, where it comes to a basic shifting to a lower age group from the point of view of the gender eguality, when the girls and boys engage in hazardous behavior with different circumstances, conditions and occurrence. A whole range of research on this theme exists, but it does not fully concern the hazardous behavior, for instance in connection with information technologies, cell phones and using of habit-forming drugs. The thesis is divided in the theoretical and the practical part. In the theoretical part, the selected forms of hazardous behavior with children and the gender problems are described. In the practical part, the quantitative research method has been chosen,a method of gathering data by means of a questionnaire. The research summary for questionnaire inquiry was created by pupils attending the 7 th to 9 th school year of the primary schools in the South Bohemian region. The aim and purpose of the thesis was to find the appearance of selected risk behaviour with the children from the point of view of the gender, and to map the differences with a view to the gender problems. The aim was accomplished. There were four hypothesis stated. H1: The boys are a more endangered group in occurance of a hazardous behavior in connection with alkohol than the girls. H2: There is a higher risk in connection with usaje non-legal drugs about boys than about girls. H3: Boys are more endangered in the occurrence of a hazardous behavior in connection with habit-forming behavior relating to virtual milieu. H4: Girls are more endangered in connection with communication technology. The thesis may be used as an information survey of a selected hazardous behavior with the children and with the gender problems. The results of the research can be used as informative material for the lay public, for children and adolescents, for parents and other specialists (anti-drug coordinator, methodic of school prevention and not least for the education or as basics for a further following research aktivity. Further, the results of the research can be used for a closer determination of suitable prevention programs. Lajksnerová, Zuzana ; Krištoufek, Ladislav (advisor) ; Baxa, Jaromír (referee)
Master Thesis: Customer Lifetime Value - Application to Banking Sector Author: Zuzana Lajksnerová Abstract This thesis deals with the calculation of the customer life value for clients of second largest Czech commercial banks - Československá obchodní banka a.s.. The aim is to estimate the revenue each individual brings to the bank within the first year, two, four since creating a profile but also during the whole time he or she remains in their customer base. The first, theoretical part contains of structured overview of the modeling approach from available literature. In the second part, we develop two different models, which are subsequently applied on client data of 2.7 million ČSOB customers. The prediction takes into account both revenues from each product and probability that customer will use this product. For estimation of the two models we use several different econometric methods, thus linear regression, bootstrap, probit and multinomial logit. The results show that demographic data such as age and gender, as well as product related variables, greatly inuence the final level of value of customer. It is also shown that higher potential earnings are associated with men, people of working age and loyal customers.
