The use and function of persuasive language techniques in women's magazines

This thesis deals with persuasion and its means in the field of contemporary journalistic texts - women's magazines. By employing the approaches of critical analysis of discourse, it analyses selected verbal means, used for persuasive writing. Women's magazine "Žena a život" volumes 2010/13 are used as a case study example. The first theoretical part of this thesis deals with persuasion in terms of psychological communication of sociological and media studies. An analysis follows of women's magazines market in the Czech Republic and the specifics of women's and lifestyle magazines. In the practical part, by using 48 different samples of "žena a život" magazines editorials, women's magazines language is analysed. The thesis focuses on selected verbal means of persuasion and it analyses their usage and function in the text. Simultaneously the thesis focuses on editorials in term of thematic contents and examines how women's world is constructed and presented by the medium of editorials. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
The personality of Popelka Biliánová and her journalistic activity

Bachelor thesis "Osobnost Popelky Biliánové a její publicistická činnost" deals with a portrait of Popelka Biliánová (1862-1941), Czech writer, publicist and dramatist and her activities in journalism. Popelka Biliánová's life was linked with a few associations in the Czech countries at the turn of the 19th century where she was active. She was acting in several spheres, e. g. education, ethnology, foklore, etc. Popelka Biliánová as a journalist wrote her articles for various periodical and non-periodical press. Bachelor thesis analyses Popelka Biliánová's articles according to a kind of newspapers and magazines, journalistic genres, themes, etc. The attention is also paid to journalism at the turn of the 19thth century, literature and its movements. Popelka Biliánová' s correspondence with important artists, writers, publishers and so on exemplifies a relationship between a writer or publicist and a publisher at that time. The prose that Popelka Biliánová wrote relating to her journalistic acitivity. Popelka Biliánová is also mentioned as the author of the prosaic pieces that inspired movie producers and literary managers.
Interviews about the Revival of the Czech Scout Movement after 1989

This practical bachelor thesis is dedicated to the revival of the Czech scout movement after 1989. The thesis outlines the circumstances of the revival through interviews with contemporaries. The first part of the thesis describes the scout movement. It focuses on the foundations of the movement internationally and it introduces individuals who participated in it. Furthermore, the thesis depicts the circumstances of establishing the Czech scout movement and its history. It also describes the main principles and values of the movement. The second chapter of the theoretical part defines the interview as a specific journalistic genre. It specifies its key features and different types. At the same time, it mentions a number of principles and various approaches a journalist can take when conducting an interview. It describes the history of the genre and highlights significant authors and journalists who influenced it the most. The practical part of this bachelor thesis consists of six interviews and a photobook. The interviews were conducted with contemporaries, who were members of the scout movement after 1989 and remember its revival. At the time they were either leading it or were active in scout units. Monetization of digital content in Czech media

This bachelor thesis focuses on the trend of direct monetization of digital newspaper content. At the beggining, it examines the development of monetizing and puts it in the context of media market transformations after the mass expansion of internet connection. Subsequently it explores other reasons that lead to the surge of paywalls, analyses particular approaches to direct monetization and discusses some aspects which affect the overall success of imposing fees. The theoretical part is concluded with a discussion about several problematic sides of direct monetization and defining some elemental techniques which publishers use to attract new subscribers. The practical part provides an analysis of digital subscription offers in selected Czech media and marketing activities which they use to support sales. Followingly, the work elaborates on its own survey which focused on attitudes of Czech readers towards paid internet content and their preferences regarding particular offers, such as price level or periodicity of subscription payments. As a part of the practical section, three interviews with media representatives were conducted and the acquired findings are used throughout the thesis.
Present authorship prehension of journalism genre of film review

This thesis focuses on present prehension of publicistic genre of film review by its authors and seeks for its differences from original theoretical definitions including the reasoning and question on its future change. Derivation of our research is confirmation of hypothesis which was conclusion of previous bachelor thesis and it speaks of transformational tendency of film reviews in time. Combination of quantitative and qualitative technique gathering data, therefore questionnaire survey with present-day film reviewers and semi-structured interviews with well-known figures, aims to the most perfect capturing of their present output, equipment for it and values, but also theirs own authorship opinions about points of importance within writing about movies and how it is changing in time and eventually where it is heading.
Historical reenactment as a cultural phenomenon

The goal of this bachelor's thesis is to present the author's journalistic documentary Historical reenactment as a cultural phenomenon. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on defining the journalistic document as a genre, methods used during its making and a short introduction into the history of the perceived phenomenon. The practical and main part of the thesis is the documentary itself. Many of us have at least once bumped unto people dressed in historical costumes on the subway, on the bus or in the streets. If we discount fans of fantasy books and movies going to their meetings, it might have probably been a historical reenactor. A person, who dedicates their free time to reconstruct historical events and we usually meet them at city fairs. Most of their events, however, are closed to the public. Even though their original purpose was to break stereotypes and enjoy medieval times in the way it really felt. Every piece of costume, every weapon or tent are hours upon hours of work, searching in archives and sewing. The motivations of these people are the topic of this film. It also encounters their stances and hobby with experimental archaeologists, who are thanks to their jobs very close to the matter.

This thesis concerns the commentary genre in both theorethical and practical sense. The theorethical part defines commentary and places it in the context of journalistic genres. It also deals with evolution of the genre in the Czech territory. It concerns the begginings of czech commentary in the 19th century, then the state of Czech opinion journalism and commentary between the First World War and the Second World War is described. The works of Ferdinand Peorutka, Zdeněk Nejedlý and Václav Sinkule are also analysed. In this part the current commentary and its role in contemporary media scene is described. The role of commentary authors on social networks and the relationship of commentary and current audiovisual media are also described. Contemporary Czech authors are also analysed. The analysed authors are Erik tabery, Bohumil Pečinka and Jiří Peňás. The practical part of this thesis contains original commentaries concerning domestic themes. In these I am adressing current topics in Czech society. Journalistic document from an environment of elementary art school - The magic of recorder

The main aim of this practical bachelor's thesis is to present author's audio-visual film. The theoretical part describes the basic principles of documentary and journalistic production. Further it generalizes the basic aspects of audio-visual communication. The final theoretical part of the thesis develops the phenomenon of videojournalism. It describes important principles, briefly the procedure of work and it illustrates videojournalism on the Czech environment, especially in the field of mobile journalism. The main part of the practical bachelor's thesis is the journalistic document, which is based on the principles of videojournalism. During the process, the author found herself in the role of reporter, cameraman, sound engineer or editor. The journalistic film will capture the environment of the recorder at the elementary art school with emphasis on presuming recorder as non-full-fledged instrument. The audiovisual film shows the opinions of elementary art schoolteacher, professional recorder player and student of music academy. They talk about the uniqueness of the recorder, its vulnerability, and the threat of the stereotype.
Czech music magazines in the beginning the 21 century

1 Annotation (abstract) The bachelor thesis Czech music magazines in the beginning of the 21st century focuses on printed music magazines which were published between the years 2001 and 2019 in the Czech Republic. The local music magazine market went through several different changes over this period. The objective of this thesis is to describe its evolution and to create profiles of the individual periodicals. The currently active music magazines are Fakker, Full Moon, Harmonie, Hudební rozhledy, Opus musicum, Rock & Pop and Spark. The thesis examines history, staff, publisher, circulation, specialization and internet activity of each these magazines and describes the content of one selected issue. The thesis also deals with the music magazines which were published during the selected era, but were cancelled or transformed into a digital format, that means Bbarák, Filter, Folk and Country, HIS Voice, Music, Report, Rock & All and XMag. The thesis examines the history, staff, publisher and specialization of each of these magazines and describes the content of one selected issue. The thesis also contains a brief timeline of the history of Czech music magazines and provides definitions of several journalistic terms.
