Kyliášová, Sandra ; Hnilica, Jiří (advisor) ; Koura, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on changes of perception of selected municipalities, which were affected by extermination action during the existence of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Unlike Lidice and Ležáky, however, they are not so well-known today. For comparison, I chose five Moravian villages and settlements, of which Zákřov and Javoříčko lay in the Olomouc, Ploština, Prlov and Vařákovy paseky were in the area of Wallachia. The introductory part is devoted to the theory of memory, focusing on collective memory and memory space with inspiration from sociology and history authors. Namely Maurice Halbwachs, Pierre Nora, Jan Assmann and Miroslav Hroch in Czechia. This is followed by a chronological summary of historical developments in individual localities, from their origin, through their destruction to development after World War II. The main passage of this work is an overview of professional, non-fiction and, rarely, fictional literary sources and media sources that have created memory of these places since the end of World War II to the present day. These sources show a political and social shift between periods of time, including propaganda based on the omission of some information or the fabrication of ideologically burdened theories. It also includes a final comparison of...

Miženko, Milan ; Šubrt, Jiří (advisor) ; Štemberk, Jan (referee)
Thesis "Vítkov as a realm of memory of the Czech society in the nineteenth and the twentieth century" deals with questions of historic memory and opportunities of its study in a context of the Czech society. Thesis focuses on changes in perception of Vítkov hill as a "realm of memory" of the Czech society during the nineteenth and the twentieth century, specifically in the years from the end of the second half of the nineteenth century until present days. Thesis shows that during the ages, perception of Vítkov hill changed according to changes in state ideology and ruling regime. From early establishing czech society in Austrian empire, through the first Czechoslovak state, following communist regime to contemporary ages, every ideology left its traces on Vítkov hill. Every ideology perceived Vítkov hill in its ways and every ideology dealt with Vítkov hill in its own ways. Thesis aims to study a question of how did the perception of Vítkov hill changed during ages and which role did Vítkov play in the Czech society. Thesis uses Pierre Nora's concept of realms of memory. Apart from that, thesis also uses comparative research while researching multiple time eras.
The Remembrance of the Town of Jindřichův Hradec 1918 - 1948
HANOUSEK, Ondřej
The concept of the remembrance of the town history, which was elaborated on by Andreas Huyssen based on Pierre Nora's notion of location memories (lieux de mémoire) refers to a shared symbolic world through which participants and institutions endeavour to preserve material traces which refer to the town's history and its identity. This methodological approach is the basis of the presented thesis, in which changes of representation of memories of Jindřichův Hradec in the era of 1918-1948 are recorded via research of historical sources. The subjects of observation are places associated with political manifestations and social events, historical objects (chateau-castle complex, narrow-gauge track), museums, historic monuments and memorials, but also significant enterprises (Fruta, Jiholen and Lada). The thesis focuses on the presentation of the town through tourist guide pamphlets as well as the local press.

Creating Memory in Public Broadcasting
Novotná, Petra ; Abu Ghosh, Yasar (advisor) ; Zandlová, Markéta (referee)
In my diploma thesis I describe the process, in which some episodes of the radio program Příběhy 20. století are made and with this example I explain, which factors can influence remembering in a medium of the public sphere and how "lieux de mémoire" occur in its broadcasting. I examine the recording of some of the narratives that can possibly be presented in the radio program, how the interviewers handle the interviewees and what motivation do they have to work in a project like this. I focus on how the stories are picked for the radio program, how are they edited, who takes part in the editing and how is it possible that they are in charge of it. My diploma thesis also includes a detailed description of the social position of Post Bellum organisation and its fundamental project Paměť národa, which are both closely connected to radio program Příběhy 20. století. In the conclusion of my thesis I deal with the fact, that this social position is one of the main elements in the process of memory making in public sphere medium, because it has an indirect impact on it. In my thesis I try to answer, what influence can the examined radio program (as part of institutionalized remembering and media communication) have on social memory.
