The Life and the Early Works of Josef Mach

The Abstract The Bachelor work is based on the interpretation of life, early work and import of writer Josef Mach. According to these criteriors the work is devided to three thematical spheres. The first part represents the Mach's biography, which gets out of original information from his work, from his correspondence and from the documents of instituitons, which his life was connected with. The second part of the work analyses Mach's early two poem digests from the formal point of view and mainly from the semantical point of view. The last part of the work takes aim at representative secondary literature about Josef Mach and at development of publication and adapting of his work. The aim of this work is first effort of completing of information about this czech poet, who influenced home literature and literature abroad, and second to give the elementary thematical view of his early work.
Evolution of Jaromír Nohavica Poetics throughout His Literacy Production

The main topic of this document is singer Jaromir Nohavica. I would like to describe the evolution of his poetics. The primary goal is to establish, that the year of revolution - 1989 is the critical impulse to his production. Reader is briefly introduced to Jaromir Nohavica's life, but also acquaint with concepts like popular culture and kitsch. Basically I focuse on Jaromir Nohavica's song poetics interpretation. The specific examples show that Nohavica shift towards the mainstream of popular literature, in thematic level, in level of production and presentation himself in the way of rendering Jaromir Nohavica, compared to songwriters of his time, does not lose the audience, he can beraised according to the new conditions and new age.
Israeli National Identity in the songs of Naomi Shemer

This thesis aims at describing motives of Israeli national identity, as shown in lyrics of Israeli lyricist and composer No'omi Shemer (1930-2004) in her songs written until 1967. The first chapter presents history of Hebrew ideological songs from the end of 19th century to 1960's. The second chapter examines biographical events and political events of No'omi Shemer that are relevant for understanding of her writings. Next, methods and analyses of Shemer's lyrics by Michael Gadish, which to certain extent influenced this thesis, are explained. In this chapter, the relationship between No'omi Shemer's writings and Israeli national identity of her time is also shown. The last chapter focuses on the most prevalent motives of Shemer's lyrics, namely, the Biblical motives, the motive of a soldier and the motive of building. Each motive is presented in a subchapter, which demonstrates how Shemer dealt with them. The thesis contains visual attachments as evidence of the said motives being relevant to Israeli culture of Shemer's time. In the conclusion, the thesis seeks to examine reasons for the said motives being prominent in Israeli culture and national identity of the period.
Poet and song text writer Karel Kryl

102 17 Abstract The presented work deals with the strong personality of Czech folk music - Karel Kryl. It investigates the differences in the poetry of his lyrics and poems, and its development in the years 1968 - 1989. The first chapters outlines the situation since the sixties of the 20th century around the sung poetry and songsters to the present. Karel Kryl is compared with the Czech singer, he differed from them not only his work, but also his live, beliefs and appearance. His poetics is developed over twenty years, both in songs and in poems. This period is divided into four stages at the songs, according to which they are assigned to each of poetry collections. By 1971, one can speak only about the songs, because Karel Kryl has not paid poems in this period. At this time, the young author wrote a texts, in which disagreed with the occupation troops of the Warsaw Pact, the texts are uncompromising. Due to emigration in 1969, he began the songs express longing for home. Kryl speaks for all and all. The second stage of Kryl's production is between 1972 - 1975 - "happy period", especially the theme of love appears, the song (more than in poetry) the Bible theme here together in poems and songs. Finnish spoken language and its use in the lyrics of modern songs

Finnish non-standard language and its use in the lyrics of modern songs Abstract The bachelor thesis deals with comparison of Finnish non-standard language and partly standard language in the lyrics of rock band Haloo Helsinki! and rap singer Cheek. Finnish non-standard language differs markedly from standard language in that it does not have a standard form and it is used primarily in oral communication. Moreover, Finnish non-standard language can, and is, also used for lyrics. The first theoretical part of thesis is an introduction to Finnish language varieties, non-standard and standard language and lyrics. The second practical part of thesis focuses on analysing the selected lyrics for the morphological, the syntactic and the lexical level of language. Non-standard language is analysed in all three levels of language, standard language only in the syntactic level of language.
Analysis of Potential Impact of Contemporary Music and Lyrics on Gender Construction from the Audience Perspective

This diploma thesis focuses on the topic of gender in music and also its perception by the audience. The research topic was chosen for the increasing consumption of music media and for the lack of research focused on gender in music and on the perception of music lyrics in general. The research part uses both the qualitative content analysis of music lyrics contained in the sample of Billboard Top Charts songs for the past 50 years (between years 1970-2019), and also semi-structured qualitative interviews on a multi-generation sample. Included in the content analysis was the total of 500 songs, interviewed were 8 respondents of various genders and ages to accomplish a diverse sample. The topics of males, females and their relationship proved to be the dominant topics in the research music sample, and it also went through a significant development over time. The research identified a movement from metaphoric language to explicit, at the same time it identified a development of the metaphors. Also observed was the inclination to communicate different topics between male and female artists. Women were more focused on the topics of love, love triangle, end of the relationship, and submission. Men focused predominantly on the topics of sex, intimacy, and in the recent years also on money and addictions,...
