Competitive Intelligence in pharmaceutical industry

This diploma thesis describes and analyzes an area of competitive intelligence in the pharmaceutical industry. The work is divided into five parts. The first part deals with competitive intelligence and related aspects, the second part is dedicated to the pharmaceutical industry, with all specifics. The third part deals with competitive intelligence in the intersection with the pharmaceutical industry, the fourth part contains the classification and description of information resources appropriate for the activities of CI and a fifth part presents research, which consists of a questionnaire survey among pharmaceutical companies on the state of competitive intelligence and semi-structured interview with an expert in the area of CI in pharmaceutical company. The survey results represent a certain sub-probe, which demonstrates the strong position of CI as a common standard of pharmaceutical companies. The diploma thesis titled "The impact of quality of information on fulfilling the infor- mation needs of users of the "Aspekty náhradní výchovy (ANV.cz)" domain-specific portal" analyzes the information needs of web portal users and evaluates the quality of the in- formation contained therein using a variety of different methods. The thesis summarizes concepts of information of quality and information needs, describes the issues of measuring quality of information and elaborates on the motivation and possibilities of research on in- formation needs and increasing quality of information. The first part of the thesis defines the terms of information behavior, information need and quality of information. This chapter describes the aforementioned concepts, the possibilities of their research, measurement and evaluation and suggests the general relationship between quality of information and fulfil- ling information needs. This part also lists other possible methods of identifying information needs which were not used in the thesis. Information support in financial institution

(anglicky) This thesis entitled Information support in a financial institution discusses how information services and resources are currently used internally in an institution focusing on the Czech banking environment. The reader is thus provided an insight directly into the organization and the position it takes towards working with information aiming at fulfilment of its employees' information needs. The thesis also reflects description of the most important information sources. Information needs of employees were analyzed and identified based on their frequency of occurrence and distribution across the bank. The following part of the work covers detailed identification of information services. The reader is hereby given the opportunity to find out where, by whom and to what extent the services are used. The conclusion deals primarily with the information models of the flow of information in the organization and the analysis of various entities affecting the relevant processes.

Analysis of the current state of information services in the field of theatre arts and their impact on public relations

With the aid of a "case study" research design, this thesis analyses the typology of informational services, whose prudent application can influence relations of institutions existing within the drama industry with the broader public. The theoretical part sheds light on the problematic definition of "information services", which is placed in the context of online marketing, and introduces ways, in which this term possesses an added value in the form of affecting the applied processes of public relations within particular institutions. Secondly, it includes basic methodological perspectives on quantitative research, the rules of performing case study research as the selected research design, and last but not least, it describes utilised methods of data collection. The last and most key part of the thesis is based on resulting application of the typology of information services, discussed in the previous parts, and concerns itself with the aforementioned question of their influence on public relation processes of individual institutions. Information needs of editors in publishing industry

This thesis is focused on the issues of information behaviour of editors from publishing with an emphasis on information needs and the sources of information. The first part deals with the position in the information publishing companies, the trend for electronic publishing and its influence on the book market. The following is an overview of selected terminological terms from publishers and their analysis. The next chapter is a summary of information behaviour theories, related concepts, models and current research in the Czech republic. The results of research that was realized for the purpose of the thesis between Czech editors are summarized and analyzed in the conclusion. Based on these results, proposals for the increasing of information literacy of editors are included in the thesis.
Strategic plan of optimalization information needs in company Weiler s.r.o.

This diploma thesis deals with issue of optimization of information needs in engineering company Weiler s.r.o. This work consists of otheoretical background, on which is established practical part, which contains strategic analysis of companies environment and information needs. There is processed strategic plan of optimization in three alternatives on these foundations - pessimistic with no change in the company, realistic, which counts with use of one information worker and optimistic, which counts with establishing an information department in the company. The final plan is elaboration of realistic alternative including financial plan, which contains the electivity calculation.
Business intelligence in the generic pharmaceutical industry for portfolio selection and registration strategy

The aim of the diploma thesis is to describe and analyse information sources, which are useful for the molecules portfolio selection suitable for the future development of a generic drug. These information sources should be examined on the case study of the portfolio selection in a given therapeutic area. The topic of the diploma thesis is presented in the context of basic principles and functions of the generic farmaceutical industry and its information needs. The introductory chapter characterizes the farmaceutical industry in general and warn on a competitive environment, which the farmaceutical companies can succeed in thanks to the advanced methods of the business intelligence. The second chapter focuses on the differences betwen the generic and original pharmaceutical industry, a drug lifecycle is also introduced there. The next chapter specifies the methods of the business intelligence in the generic pharmaceutical industry on the ground of its information needs. The fourth chapter plays a key role.
