Title: The Language Humour in Andvertising Author: Radka Čimingová Department: Department of czech language and literature Supervisor: PhDr. Radka Holanová, Ph.D. Abstract: The presented work deals with linguistic analysis of means that frame humour in printed advertising. The analysis of the language humour is based on a selected advertising sample. This sample was used to identify, classify and specify individual linguistic means in more detail. Humour is interpreted as a play on words that is built around updating, change, intentional breaking of established rules, incongruity and around the relationship between language and extralinguistic reality. This play resulting in a comic tone of the advertisement concerns meaning as well as graphic form of individual linguistic means, usage of different varieties of lexis, intertextual connection and the relationship between words and pictures. The work covers all these aspects of the linguistic play on words as well as describes the theoretical context in which the play takes place and specifies the basic terms connected to the subject of the thesis, i.e. advertising and humour. Boundaries of Humour
Holada, Matouš ; Paulíček, Miroslav (advisor) ; Chylíková, Johana (referee)
This paper examines the phenomenon of controversial humor on the social networking site Facebook. Here there exist several entertainment pages, dedicated to the purpose of publishing and sharing comic material; most notably jokes in the form of humorous images. Sometimes, some of these jokes become a source of conflicts and a target of criticism by certain Facebook users, who consider them unacceptable. The present study therefore aims at examining the characteristics of these jokes, to help shed light on what is today considered inappropriate in the sphere of humor. For this purpose, an analysis of jokes and comments on them, left by their readers, was conducted on several Facebook pages. This research revealed the fact that jokes about current, medially covered disasters where the biggest source of controversies. Further inquiries into their nature then showed that aversion to this type of humor cannot be explained by applying superiority theory (contrary to certain other types of humor; for example ethnic or sexist jokes). The source of conflicts about disaster jokes is therefore seen in the clash of disparate views, held by Facebook users about the nature of norms, governing what is and what isn't acceptable to joke about. The conclusion to this paper then suggests possible directions for...
Literary-didactic potential of "České nebe"
Jiskrová, Zuzana ; Peterka, Josef (advisor) ; Klumparová, Štěpánka (referee)
This thesis directly continues my bachelor thesis titled "What and Why do we laugh with Jára Cimrman at". The first, theoretical part, sums up the observation of the poetics of the plays of Jára Cimrman Theatre and subsequently proves them through interpretation of the last play of Smoljak & Svěrák called "České nebe". The first two chapters provide the theoretical base of knowledge for the four-hour-long lesson based on "České nebe" itself. Both these chapters mainly focus on the used humour and the character of Jára Cimrman, the Czech national genius, but also on related topics such as mystification, space-time, Czechness and composition. The second part of the thesis is then the main one which brings the theory into practice. "České nebe" as a play offers an enormous didactic potential which can be used to verify and deepen one's literacy. The didactic part includes a complex preparation for four lessons, for which it provides a basic introduction of Jára Cimrman Theatre and a summary of comedy techniques used by this theatre, which have a strong emphasis on parody. Mainly, though, it provides a brief insight into the opinions, values and the culturally-historical knowledge of a today's adolescent. The students had a chance to elect their own Czech heaven committee in their class and, by doing...

Seidlová, Tereza ; Škodová, Markéta (advisor) ; Bednařík, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on the problematic aspects of the journalistic profession nowadays, namely on the example of the penetration of the mystifying jokes to the mainstream media. In three specific cases where the authors of the mystifying pranks managed to penetrate the media, the work illustrates the most common mistakes journalists can make and focuses on trends, which stand for these tendencies. Part of this work is the analysis of the mystifying contents that appeared on jokes websites, on Facebook or in the context of interpersonal communication, and subsequent analysis of the media in which these mystifying reports appeared in the form of the real events. The interviews with both stakeholders - authors of the hoax contents and media representatives - will subsequently serve for the illustration of the overall issue and the final conclusion.

Typovský, František ; Moravec, Václav (advisor) ; Jakubisko, Jorik (referee)
1 Abstract This thesis aims to examine the journalistic approaches in three American political satire television shows - The Daily Show, Last Week Tonight and The Late Show. The author searches the common features of the three examined shows, tries to characterize them, and place them into the media context of the United States of America. The author describes to the reader how these shows, through political satire, combine opinion journalism, investigative journalism and humour. Because this thesis deals with American shows, it mostly uses foreign professional literature. This work has two large parts - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical passage, the author tries to define satire as a genre, mentions its use in politics and the relationship satire plays between journalism and humour. The theoretical part continues with the description of the particular journalistic approaches used in these shows and contains the explanation of the position of the examined shows in regards to the approaches these shows use bordering between investigative journalism and comedic humour. In the practical part the examined shows are being analyzed, in the first instance the author describes the construction and composition of these shows, and then documents his claims on concrete evidence. The practical part uses...
