The Organs of Perception and Expression in Samuel Beckett's Dramatic Works

This thesis focuses on three plays written by Samuel Beckett: Play, Not I and Footfalls. Corporeality is the central theme of these works, which also connects them to an important and celebrated source of study and inspiration for the dramatist, The Comedy of Dante Alighieri. The influence played by Dante's descriptions of the body, particularly in the cantica of Inferno, is visible in Beckett's works for the ways in which the organs of perception and expression are treated at both textual and theatrical level. In the three plays the activities of mouth, eyes, ears (and less relevantly, nose) constitute the narrative focus of the text, while the sensorial aspects derived by their presence on stage determine the kind of exchange at play between actors and spectators. Staging immobilized, constricted and barely visible characters who, narrating obscure, uncertain stories, obsessively try to make a sense of their existential and physical conditions, the author gives life to a metatheatrical language rooted on instability and doubt. The Function of Speech in Husserl and Merleau-Ponty

The Function of Speech in Husserl and Merleau-Ponty The submitted doctoral thesis is an attempt to describe the development of the intentional function of speech in Husserl and Merleau-Ponty. The intentional function is defined as the change of expressed meaning that is engendered by the expression itself. We trace Husserl's position from the Logical Investigations and the first book of his Ideas pertaining to a pure phenomenology and to a phenomenological philosophy, where he describes speech as the non- productive mirroring of other kinds of intentionality, to the late text The Origin of Geometry, where he discerns two functions of speech: it provides thought its ideality, which is different from the ideality of species; and it provides thought its objectivity, i.e. the form of object that lasts in history as identical. In The Phenomenology of Perception, Merleau-Ponty adopts Husserl's late position with several profound modifications. The starting-point ceases to be the linguistic sign, and speech becomes a kind of gesture. As a consequence, the difference between linguistic and non-linguistic ideality disappears. Tatooed People and Society: Conflict with Mainstream Norm and It's Reflection

The aim of my diploma thesis is to give an insight into the social reality of lightly tattooed people as well as those, who are just considering tattoo. Of people, for whom is tattoo neither a lifestyle nor only the fashion trend that recently penetrating into the mainstream culture. Presenting attitudes and opinions of these tattooed and potentially tattooed people the thesis tries to elucidate, what does it mean for them to be tattooed, if there are any concrete values and meanings connected with tattoo, how tattooed understand and reflect a possibility of conflict with the social norms and if the risk of this conflict somehow influences the decision of getting a tattoo. Main current approaches to the phenomenon of tattoo, historical development and changes of its situation in western culture are introduced in the theoretical part. The empirical part then draws on data acquired from semi-structured interviews with tattooed and potentially tattooed living in Czech Republic.

Technology of morbid in fairy tales

(in English): The diploma thesis deals with the specific conception of body and corporeality in fairy tales, especially with morbid elements which are often reflected as non-fairy tale. The fairy tales of Karel Jaromír Erben, Hans Christian Andersen and Oscar Wilde are the main focus. The thesis also introduces the theory of the Swiss scholar Max Lüthi formulated in The European Folktale: Form and Nature into the Czech context. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical section provides a complex explication of Max Lüthi's theory of the fairy tale. It examines the main terms that Luthi defined for the fairy tale: One-dimensionality, Depthlessness, Abstract Style, Isolation and Universal Interconnection, Sublimation and All-Inclusiveness. Then the frame of this theory is extended into the field of the authorial fairy tale. The diploma thesis then sums up the differences and the points of contact between those two subgenres using The Story of the Eldest Princess as an example. The practical part focuses on relevant strategies of handling the body and corporeality in fairy tales. To think from psychededic experiences means to introduce a transdisciplinary model of psychedelic domain. This model is based on autoethnographic, cognitive, phenomenological and psychopharmacological types of analysis. These analyses allow to demonstrate: 1) place of psychedelics in contemporary globalised czech society; 2) possible heuristic (theoretical and experiemental) value of psychedelic experience for understanding human situation. This text interprets psychedelic experience as a process of deteritorialization and reteritorialization that occurs on different, intertwinned levels of our experience, and, thus, it is a contribution to explication of a philosophical concept of intertwinning. No Grain, No Gain: Vegan Athletes' Self-Perception of Corporeality

This thesis deals with the corporeality of vegan athletes. It aims to clarify how the members of a specific vegan athlete community perceive their corporeality. It also describes the corporeality shaping process and how the process is affected by the community and by the shared body practices - mainly vegan diet and sports activities. The main concepts concerning this issue are habitus, embodiment, and the mindful body. This thesis's key ideas derive from Merleau-Ponty's views on corporeality, Csordas' embodiment, and Scheper-Hughes's and Lock's mindful body, which provided an analytical framework for this research. The research highlighted the importance of a strong community, which vegan athletes build. They can then act on the bodies of the community members and thus make bodies presenting veganism as sufficient. It is a sport that plays a crucial role in this, as it keeps bodies healthy and makes them strong. Sport thus functions as a defense for their practices, which are in the community's eyes the right way of living and respond to the current environmental crisis and immoral abuse of animals. The text deals with ways and methods of creating my diploma thesis called Steal me your €motion. The diploma thesis deals with the relationship between machine learning and emotionality. To what extent is artificial intelligence able to undergo emotional relationships and experiences defined by the physicality and experience of the human body. The topic of the work is the creation of a (fictional) inhuman entity that longs to learn from people as many bodily acts as possible that will help it infiltrate the human community. In addition to reflecting the current level of scientific knowledge, I bring an element of fiction and fiction.

Bachelor's thesis deals with topics such as presence, perception of corporeality and oneself appear in the context of the process of creation of a work. The evolving themes reflect subjective present vision and fascination with materiality, in order to achieve sustainable art and life. It asks questions of aesthetic - philosophical nature. What is the relationship between art and sustainability, the relationship between work, its creator, and objects? The work that was created is a material artifact, a record of being in the past and in the present. It is like a record arc, a photograph of a given reality, created to understand the past in the future. It is a reflection of the inner nakedness, internal processes, inner emotions and thoughts which shape the inner aspects of the psyche, expand into space, crawl, fill, and have their own distinctive life.

A Coatrobes is an object about painting, about a big body. About the mutual interweaving of color, stroke, stains with the material of linen canvas. And the most of Coats are attached on the chipboard, which copies the final shape of the canvas. The canvas is attached to the table with Velcro, which allows KH to unclip from the boards and gives the possibility of wearability.

Yoga as a tool for the conscious body from the point of view of the phenomenological concept of corporeality

Diploma thesis "Yoga as a tool for the conscious body from the perspective of the phenomenological concept of corporeality" deals with corporeality, the phenomenology of the body and yoga as a tool for finding the harmony of the conscious body. The introduction of the thesis explains the importance of this topic from the perspective of the society-wide concept and also explains the motivation of the author to its processing. The historical background dealing with the Cartesian conception of the body based on Descartes' dualism was described in the theoretical part. The next chapter in the theoretical part was devoted to the comparison of concepts from Cartesian and yoga meditation, and description of the phenomenology of corporeality in Merleau-Ponty. The chapters dealing with the issue of increasing psychic tension in children and youth and the resulting need to deal with the care of the soul were emphasized. The importance of yoga as a meaning of restoring stability was explained in a separate chapter. Individual types of asanas and their effect on the human body were described there as well.
