The role and utilization the ballet company in the Czechoslovak television in 70s and 80s of the 20th century

This thesis deals with the role and utilization of the ballet company in Czechoslovak Television programmes in the 1970s and 1980s. The author first introduces the reader to the context of the chosen topic. Using literary research, she introduces the period of normalization and the functioning of Czechoslovak Television at that time, and then captures the various definitions and divisions of dance or the characteristics of television genres, more specifically entertainment as a television genre. In the analytical part, the author traces the origin and functioning of the ballet company and its role in ČST programmes. The programmes in question are Televarieté or Kabaret u dobré pohody. In the analysis, the author also devotes space to the transformation of dance as an element of television entertainment. The information needed for this thesis was available primarily in the Czech Television's archive and programme funds. In addition, the author made extensive use of the iVysílání platform.
Unbreakable Nightrunners

The video documentary Unbreakable Nightrunners deals with people around the artist, who documents what is happening in the group of which he is a part. The main actors live in the area and know each other from Elementary school. Half of the participants are still students and the other working individuals from different industries. Nightrunners are under 30 years old. Sometimes misunderstood by society and the surrounding area. The group of people she documents did not want to be like other people around. They didn't want to hang out and party. They have a common interest in cars and tuning. People with different views and styles, who always find a topic for conversation and space for joint activities have also a different philosophy of life, which could be summed up in the thesis that „life is a distinctive phenomenon that can not be reduced to mechanical events“. They help each other when something goes wrong, they are in good and bad times together. It documents all the events that the group creates, including ordinary meetings or interviews. It also reflects the fact that the group meets in one particular place and that is the gas station. The name Nightrunners is derived from a chat group on Facebook where they debate in various ways, agree on events, send funny videos and photos or spread new photos of cars and things they saw or were part of.
Comparison of popular didactic weekly magazine for youth (Mladý hlasatel thirties/forties Vpřed forties/fifties)

Master's thesis "Comparison of popularly educational weekly youth magazines Mladý Hlasatel and Vpřed in 1930s through 1950s" contrasts two youth titles that were published around the WWII. Both titles, connected not only through the editor and father-like figure Jaroslav Foglar, were immensely popular in their time and constitute the phenomenon of journalism for children of that era. Both magazines were published during uneasy times, firstly during the dawn of the war and during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia; secondly, after ten years, during the rise of communists' influence and subsequent Communist coup d'état in 1948. This master's thesis follows my bachelor thesis "Mladý Hlasatel and it's authors" describing history, authors and specifics of this magazine. Master's thesis adds comparably detailed information about the magazine Vpřed, but its main objective is to compare the titles published in "free" era before the WWII and after it, and the ones that were published during the limited freedom of the press during the war and after the year 1948. 'But it's only a children's book' - children's literature as a vehicle of manipulative ideological dissemination

The historical era between 1850 and 1950 is known to be a turbulent period reflected not only in adult literature but also in the texts written for children. This unusually rich period in terms of political, social and ideological development certainly influenced most parts of the world. However, it was particularly important for England mainly for the transition of the Victorian era and Edwardian period to the modern history initiated by the WW I. Throughout this period many new ideologies arose and scientific discoveries were more numerous than ever. In 1859, for instance, Darwin's On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection was published and initiated the still on-going war period between Christianity and science. At the same time, the concept of childhood started to be understood in a different way and books written for children became a common commodity converting the end of 18th century in the Golden Age of children's literature. However, according to Peter Hunt's publication Understanding Children's Literature, 'all texts are inevitably infused by ideologies'. Social and cultural status digital entertainment

This work uncovers perceptions of the Czech society concerning cultural and social role of a digital entertainment (computer games and videogames) as a relatively new interactive media form. The author tries to verify validity of a presumption that the digital entertainment is an object of a cultural stigma that was formed by combination of various factors which are closely specified in the work. According to the author, present perception of the digital entertaiment in society is formed by a media panic that repeated itself regularly in the course of history. Amongst other significant determinants one can find certain stereotypical viewes, efforts of a ruling class to sustain status quo and struggle of various social groups over cultural dominance which leads to hierarchization of cultural tastes. Suggested cultural stigmatisation of the digital entertainment probably leads to a social stigmatisation of players, who submit to social pressures and often adapt their behaviour to general tastes. Transformatıon of Pera into Cultural District of Istanbul in the second half of the 19th Century

The second half of the 19th Century was a remarkable period in the history of the transformation of Istanbul's Pera district, which can also be detected in the history of its western type theatre buildings, passages, cultural activities, district regulations, planning and establishment of other public and private spaces. The scope of the study will focus on the period between the announcement of the Edict of Gulhane (1839) till Second Constitutional Era (1908). I have chosen the Pera district, also known as Beyoğlu/Taksim for this case study, because it had quite specific functions in the city. It had hosted various ethnical groups throughout its long history, which was also the case in the middle of the 19th century, and the cultural harmony influenced the district's social life. I intend to test this hypothesis by applying Charles Landry's creativity city concept with Pera's cultural district at the end of the thesis. I will apply the aforementioned concepts and examine the remarkable modern type constructions of the district and their history. The Relationship of Hedonism and Humanism

The diploma thesis discusses the relationship between humanism and hedonism. However, its main objective is not to explain the terms in their summarized historical relatedness but to point out their internal coherence. The fundamental issue the thesis deals with is the fact that sentient beings suffer from sorrow. Enumerating the reasons why it is important to search for a solution would be a waste of our reader's time. It is necessary to understand that we don't expect empirical science to solve the problem since - despite the enthusiasm significant for this modern period - has not introduced any relief from sorrow. Here comes the opportunity for philosophy and, eventually, ethics. In its first part the thesis maps out the context of humanism and hedonism, studies their apparent as well as hidden nature, and lays the conceivable foundations of humanistic hedonism. The following section suggests a set of particular steps. Adhering to these instructions makes it possible to experience delight and to eliminate sorrow.
The end of Wetten dass...? The dialogic analysis of an entertainment show

This master's thesis presents the dialogical analysis of the German TV show 'Wetten, dass...?'.The main target is to analyse the internal as well as the external dialogical structure of two Wetten, dass...? shows. The internal structure is based on the dialogue between the showmaster and his guests. On the other hand, the external one is based on the dialogue between the showmaster and the audience. The purpose of this master's thesis is to show how each showmaster is trying to interact two groups of people as well as to analyse if there is a difference between both of them. The theoretical part of this thesis defines the term 'TV entertainment' and describes different types of dialogues. It is also focused on the show Wetten, dass...?, on its concept, each showmaster, audience raking, criticism and other competition. The practical part describes two chosen Wetten, dass...? shows in terms of their dialogicity. The main point is the showmaster, who is trying to act dialogically in relation to his quests and audience.
