Ambivalence of Identity: Cultural Traditions As a Theme in Contemporary Czech and Slovak Art
Maixner, Miroslav ; Klodová, Lenka (referee) ; Janečková,, Zuzana (referee) ; Zálešák, Jan (advisor)
The dissertation focuses on the phenomenon of a new presence of references to traditional folk culture in contemporary Czech and Slovak art. Emphasis is placed on the period from the year 2000 to the present. The core of the work consists of chapters devoted to artists who in this period significantly thematized various aspects of traditional folk culture, either as a partial element of specific projects or in the form of continuous interest in the field. The essence of this part is to show the breadth and heterogeneity of the examined manifestations across the media spectrum. The main purpose of the work is to analyze and place the researched phenomena in a relevant context within the theory and history of art. The reason is their different nature from thematically similar manifestations in the 19th and 20th centuries. In addition, when compared with current trends abroad, a number of connections are shown, such as links to environmental issues, criticism of the state of society and, above all, to new issues related to personal and collective identification. Therefore, I base the analysis of these phenomena on a hybrid interdisciplinary basis using theoretical approaches to identity in the social sciences and humanities. I do so in the introductory theoretical chapters, but the main focus is on the final analytical synthesis. To a large extent, it also builds on data obtained from interviews with artists, the transcripts of which the reader will find in the appendix. Finally, the documentation of curatorial projects and exhibitions realized as a practical part of the dissertation project is attached.
The Rehabilitation of the historical center and adjacent surroundings of Kyjov with a focus on the public space
Podivínská, Adéla ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
Kyjov is causing me to have four passwords – it's a small town, tradition, affection and understanding. Small town as in salvation in the modesty, the picturesqueness of knowledge. The tradition, which are for city important and based on them. They are, for example, folk songs, costume, feast, dialects and all that yet remained of the past. Affection is the quality of the architecture, which, although already expired, but still her remains remain. And the last password understanding, and especially in chanting traditions, the preservation of its values, grasping and grappling or finding your uniqueness. At work I dedicate spaces around Kyjovka from Boršov the south end of the city. I try to just flow so neprotékal, but to engage in the urban environment of Kyjov. I have several places that I've re-energise, give them value and use the reserves for the thickening building. These spaces have a new application and are a place to stop, lift up the city and open to visitors and current residents. Kyjovka communicates not only with parks, but even with the new buildings and its features, you will be able to get closer to the stream and found in it a place to rest, but also to entertain or to walk.

Petričáková, Štěpánka ; Wohlmuth Markupová, Jana (advisor) ; Franc, Martin (referee)
The Kopecky family, whose family tradition is associated with puppet theatre, is examined in this thesis, which aims to explore the perception of family tradition in three different branches of the same family. To research this issue, the tradition is also studied in different generations of a given family branch. The narrators were chosen primarily so that individual families did not have closer ties with each other. The theory and methodology of this research are based on concepts of oral history and family memory. Matěj Kopecký, sometimes referred to as the patriarch of the Czech puppetry, was a puppeteer from Mirotice. The art of puppeteering has been passed down from generation to generation and is currently alive for the ninth generation. It brings the question, how is the family tradition in the present and how is it passed on? What exactly constitutes a family tradition? Key words: family, tradition, oral history, Matěj Kopecký, marionettes, marionette theatre

Hrnčiříková, Marie ; Pecháček, Stanislav (advisor) ; Nedělka, Michal (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to collect and analyse folk songs from Studlov and to propose their use in school and after-school music education. Thanks to the collectors and their musical notations, it is possible to analyse individual songs and thus look for connections in the folk music of this Wallachian village. Through these sources, I have created a songbook of Studlov folk songs for the purposes of music education and the preservation of traditions. In order to be able to extract as much information as possible from the multitude of songs for their analysis, I have divided them into several groups according to their content. The categorization helped to further research and clarified the weight of folk song in certain areas of the lives of the original tradition bearers. Finally, I have adapted a few selected songs, especially for the purpose of after-school music education. The aim of the arrangements is to engage listeners who do not prefer folk music with this genre. Another product of this research is a methodological material in which I have processed Wallachian customs in such a way that they can be used in music education lessons at primary school. By confirming the hypothesis about the peculiar musicality of the inhabitants of the area, deduced from the character of folk songs, we can...
