Dream in Czech art of the first half of the 20th century and the dream theme in art education

The main aim of this thesis is concerned with dream as an inspirational source and as specific state of mind. Theoretical part describes dream from psychological point of view but also dream ramifications on the art in the first half of the 20th century. The thesis describes not only an introduction of surrealism as a new art style in French and Czech countries, but also birth of new art techniques. The work also maps dream reports of Jindřich Štyrský and their depictions as an author's primary source of imagination. Didactic part includes a survey aimed at sixth grader's dreams and didactic project consists of four painting tasks. Each task thematically follows specific parts of theoretical chapter. Separeted librarries - Library of Karel Teige

The main goal of this thesis titled Separated libraries - Library of Karel Teige is based on Teige's important life events to pursue his creative activity and to connect it with his personal library. This topic will form the first part of the thesis - split into period of Devetsil and Surrealist group. In the second part, I deal with the issue of Teige's separated library and its further destiny after 1951. I focus primarily on Teige's estate in the Museum of Czech Literature and on its composition. An important item of this second part are letters between the Ministry of National Security - Headquarters of State Security and the National Security Secretary, which describe an event between the intervention of the State Security into the apartment of Karel Teige and depositing Teige's estate to the National Museum Library. This thesis should help to clarify how Teige's library was separated and where it was deposited.
The Cobra Movement in the Context of Art of the 40s and early 50s.

This work deals with the experimental art group Cobra which united artists of three countries - Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands, after the World War II. Although this movement was active only between the years 1948 and 1951, the beginning of this group can be traced in the pre-war period when the future members of the group were influenced by the mainstream art movements. Similarly, we cannot see the year 1951 as the end of the importance of this international art formation. Despite the short duration, the group united number of artists from different countries who then influenced many of future artists and art movements. This work therefore mentions the activity of Cobra members before the actual establishment of the group, attempts to describe in detail its work during its existence, and lastly, it indicates its further heading. A special chapter is dedicated to the connection of the group Cobra to the Czech art. The artists of Cobra drew their main inspiration from the work of arts of specific groups, such as that of children, mentally ill, so called primitive nations, or from the folk art. André Breton and psychoanalysis

The topic of this thesis is the connection between psychoanalysis and surrealism, an important avant-garde group. The thesis focuses on selected theoretical writings of A. Breton, leader of the surrealist movement. Influence of psychic automatism on his work is being examined along the processes revealing unconsciousness in comparison with S. Freud's fundamental works. The thesis further defines how the Freudian psychoanalysis was processed in Breton's concept of surrealism and how it influenced surrealist conceptions and procedures, provided that the basic elements of inspiration are taken right from psychoanalysis. The ultimate goal of the thesis is to determine to what extent is the influence of psychoanalysis apparent in Breton's work, and where the surrealism goes beyond psychoanalysis itself.
Surrealism of the "Écrits Bruts": Comparison of André Breton's and Jeanne Tripier's Poetics of Madness

This dissertation is focused on phenomenon of madness in French surrealism and genre called "écrits bruts". The main theme is confrontation of surrealism aesthetics madness with written production of psychotic and mostly schizophrenic patients. The primary outcome is presented by analysis and interpretation of two chosen literary works, which are collection of experimental poetry by André Breton and Paul Éluard called L'Immaculée conception (Immaculate Conception, 1930) and diary entries, known as Premier Cahier: de l'ordre des messages, mai 1935, written by one of the most significant French women representatives Jeanne Tripier,. The aim of this analysis is on one hand to identify and characterize forms through which simulated and "real" madness in texts presented are, and on the other hand to describe its poetic function. The methodology part is based on structural and genre analysis of both aforementioned movements and moreover is formed on outcomes of the phenomenologically oriented psychiatry and psychoanalysis.
Zbyněk Havlíček - Reflection of Work and Personality

The first part of my thesis will be about poet Zbyněk Havlíček's life and work. The work is mostly based on his heritage which is deposit in LA PNP in Prague in Strahov. The first chapter will describe the poet's personality in the view of his mother Marie and in the other part Havlíček's friends - Robert Kalivoda, Vratislav Effenberger and Josef Vyskočil - will comment his life. The second chapter will talk primarily about Havlíček's interpretation of surrealism. In this chapter I will also mention Havlíček's perception of the greatest surrealist André Breton. The last chapter will shortly introduce Zbyněk Havlíček 's poetics. The second part of the thesis will offer collection of his heritage (printed matters, manuscripts, correspondence) which is deposited in LA PNP in Prague in Strahov.
The theme of love in the poetry of the Generation of '27

The diploma thesis "The theme of love in the poetry of the Generation of '27" provides an interpretation of the motif of love in the work of three poets of this formation: Vincente Aleixandre, Pedro Salinas, and Luis Cernuda. It focuses on the collections of poems from the period of the "rehumanization" of Spanish poetry where "to rehumanize" is to return to the subject of love. The authors highlight the correlation of love and poetry as a means to overcome solitude of an individual and to relate to another or to the world. The influence of surrealism on the work of Vincente Aleixandre and Luis Cernuda has been outlined. Moreover, a thesis claiming that the "rehumanization" happened only under the influence of the surrealist movement has been refuted, which is illustrated on the lyric love poems of Pedro Salinas. The work attempts to show that even in this period the elements of pure, "dehumanized" poetry were not completely eliminated. In the work of Vicente Aleixandre, love is characterized as a cosmic force, which rules the whole world - it destroys, reforms and interlinks all. An emphasis is given on the corporeal nature of such love and the interconnection between erotism and the artistic process. Walking and writing the world. An approach to modernity in Bohemia and France from the beginning of the 19th century to the 1940's In Christian allegoric texts the Pilgrim traditionally symbolizes the journey of mankind to heaven. From the second half of the 19th century on, poets, travelers, and vagabonds pursued the quest of an afterlife from within city walls. This dissertation examines the different representations of modern wandering via an in-depth analysis of the theme as encountered in French and Czech literature and arts from the early 19th century to the 1940's. It reveals, in chronological order, the different artistic approaches to modernity. By bringing out the various patterns that emerge from the texts, while taking into account the historical and social contexts in which they were created, this work adds to existing knowledge on the cultural similarities between France and Bohemia. It also examines the different literary genres which originate from mankind's need to walk and write the world.
