Pfeffer, Karel ; Chytilová, Julie (advisor) ; Cingl, Lubomír (referee)
BACHELOR THESIS Gender differences in competitiveness and confidence: comparison of children from India and the Czech Republic Karel Pfeffer 2014 Abstract Recent studies suggested gender differences in competitiveness, under- and overconfidence to be the possible causes of gender inequalities in labour market. The motivation of my study is to enrich and extend current findings in this field and contribute to behavioral economics studies. Studying children from India and the Czech Republic is one of the possible ways how to achieve this. My experimental research reveals some interesting results. Children from the Czech Republic are, on average, more competitive than children from India. Boys and girls from each country refer to increase theirs competitive behavior with age. Regarding to under- and overconfidence, children from India tend to believe in their performance more than children from the Czech Republic. These results suggest that there are differences in competitiveness, under- and overconfidence among children from two heterogeneous samples induced by different social and economic environments.

This master thesis is written as a guideline for successful business expansion to Chinese market. It describes the regional characteristics, which are important in order to understand the Chinese culture, since without proper understanding of the culture, all of its aspects and concepts such as Guanxi, no foreign firm will be able to succeed in China. I used three case studies, which provide real life experience with this issue from different points of view. The practical part of the thesis is primarily focused on financial industry in China, specifically on investment funds and what should be the necessary steps for any investment fund, which would like to expand to Chinese market.

Dostálová, Eva ; Khelerová, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Vojtíšek, Zdeněk (referee)
Research of intercultural communication and management phenomena has been rising since 1950s. At that time the researchers acknowledged the importance of the role of culture in international relations. Purpose of this diploma thesis is to unhide culturally influenced perception and behavior of French in application to business. Basic characteristics of French culture were identified based on study of researches of recognized researchers in this field i.e. Geert Hofstede and Fons Trompenaars. Further characteristics of the culture were examined in the sample of 12 interviewees using quantitative research methods. They were willing to dedicate their time and share personal working experience in relation with French whether in France or in direct working relation in Czechia. Barriers of communication between both cultures were confirmed by the research as existing and therefor the study of cultural differences was justified. The results of the research are presented in form of recommendations for Czechs and sum up the established phenomena.
