The concept of "Schuldenbremse" as an instrument against indebtedness in the Federal Republic of Germany
Říhová, Dominika ; Mlsna, Petr (advisor) ; Kunštát, Miroslav (referee)
As a result of the rapidly rising debt in recent years, the Federal Republic of Germany has decided to stop this unfavourable trend. The approval and acceptance of the so-called debt brake (Schuldenbremse) into the Basic Law in 2009 was also supported by the fact that the amount of public debt significantly exceeded the defined limit by the convergence criteria. With the financial crisis and the associated debt crisis within the eurozone, it turned out that the rules set out in the Stability and Growth Pact are being handled by a few states, and therefore some states have, due to their irresponsible fiscal policy, faced serious problems which are characterized by the inability to repay their obligations. Consequently, austerity measures had to be taken and at the same time, other EU countries have been invited to adjust their public finances to contribute to the consolidation of Economic and Monetary Union. As a result, debt brakes or other measures were then embedded in national legislation to prevent further crises. The German debt brake is a set of seven constitutional laws, where the main assumption is the annual setting of balanced budgets, or balanced income and expenditure, both at federal and state level, in order to prevent new further indebtedness. It was stipulated that the state budget...

Presented diploma thesis is disciplined interpretative case study, which examines bilateral relations in energy field between the Czech Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany in between 2004 - 2014. The thesis analyses intergovernmental relationship between the two actors using Andrew Moravcsik's Liberal Intergovernmentalist Approach theory. The aim of the diploma thesis is to define the character of such a relationship and its development throughout the defined period. To this goal, three hypotheses have been set. They focus on the asymmetry of mutual relations, impact of economic interests on their formation and on possible transfer of unsolved issues to the EU level. National interest is being defined throughout the strategic documents analysis. First chapter defines actors, who represent the state in mutual relations and advocate national preferences. Second chapter analyses bilateral contacts, the frequency of energy connected issues at the bilateral meetings and the shifts in the relationship. Third chapter examines the area of unplanned power flows from Germany to the Czech Republic as they represent the most pressing issue in bilateral energy relations. Mutual cooperation is assessed in the last part of the second and third chapter. In its conclusions, the diploma thesis verifies all presented...

The comparison of the western policy of the FRG during the reign of Konrad Adenauer and Willy Brandt
Handlíř, Jakub ; Nigrin, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kunštát, Miroslav (referee)
This bachelor thesis is dealing with the comparison of the Western Policy of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) during the chancellorship of Konrad Adenauer and Willy Brandt. For the purpose of this thesis and because of time and spatial limitations I defined the Western Policy of the FRG as a policy of the FRG toward the organisation and states of the so-called western world, precisely as a relationship of the western Germany toward the european integration process, NATO and as bilateral relationships between Gemany and Great Britain, Frace and USA. This thesis aims only on the time of Adenauer's (1949 - 63) and Brandt's (1969 - 74) chancellorship. It doesn't aim on the time when these men carried out other functions than the function of a chancellor. It also doesn't aim on the policy toward other western organisations or institutions, on the policy toward the so-called eastern world nor on the policy of the Eastern Germany.
Technologies, endowment and foreign trade: testing the Heckscher-Ohlin model on Czech data
Kroulíková, Šárka ; Semerák, Vilém (advisor) ; Jeřábek, Jakub (referee)
One may observe a growing trend of figure measuring the ration between export and gross domestic product that applies for almost all countries. In response to this phenomenon theories dealing with international trade becomes more important. The capability to identify some trends in commodity movements and determine advantages rising from bilateral trade are key aspects of economic growth and country development. This thesis deals with the analysis of international trade between Czech Republic and Germany. Fundamental determinant of trade between countries is Heckscher-Ohlin Theorem and as my research instrument I choose Input-Output methodology. I decided to use two types of calculation, while evaluating the validity of mentioned theory. First is Leontief methodology from 1954, which led to famous Leontief paradox. Second and more modern approach is the one developed by Riedel in 1974. In quantitative part of my analysis I focused my attention on two calculations with purpose to state factor endowment and country's production intensity. The meaning of this analysis is to confirm the validity of Heckscher-Ohlin Theorem, which would lead to conclusion that commodity movement between Czech Republic and Germany is driven by neoclassical theory of comparative advantage.
Political Party Funding: an International Comparison
Bejdák, Matěj ; Kindlová, Miluše (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to identify significant weaknesses of political party funding system in the Czech Republic, and to suggest possible improvements of the system. Knowledge acquired in the first part of the thesis, which deals with the theoretical basis of political party funding, is used to analyse the applicable legislation. This part of the thesis first of all describes the legal framework of political parties, the principles and goals of political party funding, and possible approaches to the funding; the most space is devoted to one of the possible approaches, regulatory measures, which is divided on the basis of supply side (state a private funding) and demand side (mainly campaign spending regulation). The Czech legislation is not only analysed in general and using the theoretical basis, but is also compared with the system adopted by the Federal Republic of Germany. The hypothesis is that the German law is a good example for the Czech Republic in the field of party financing, for the Federal Republic of Germany has been a developed democratic state of law for a longer uninterrupted period of time, and was one of the first countries in the world to introduce state funding of political parties. The second part of the thesis describes, analyses and compares the applicable legislation of the...

Angela Merkel's handling of the refugee crisis in the years 2015-2016. Political narrative of a dividual actor.
Wiedermannová, Ida ; Handl, Vladimír (advisor) ; Dimitrov, Michal (referee)
The diploma thesis examines the political narrative of German Chancellor Angela Merkel during the EU migration crisis in 2015-2016. The aim of the thesis is to show, how Chancellor Merkel justified her policy and the approach of the Federal government in matters of European migration policy. What priorities and motives can be seen in the keynote speeches of the German Chancellor? Which of the arguments were crucial? The thesis is based on the fact that Merkel took on two levels of argument. On the one hand, she understands her political actions in the European Union from a normative point of view, on the other hand some political steps could be seen from a pragmatic strategic point of view. The aim of the study is also to examine the role of Germany in the EU from the perspective of the so-called dividual actor. After the introductory section, the third chapter outlines the development of the migration crisis in the EU. The following chapter brings an overview of the solution to the migration crisis in terms of developments in Germany. The fifth chapter is an analytical part of the thesis, which aims to identify and interpret the various narratives of Angela Merkel in the field of German European policy and the solution to the migration crisis. In conclusion the results of analysis are introduced.
Lease of Flat -comparison of Czech and German Laws
Šenkeříková, Simona ; Frinta, Ondřej (advisor) ; Thöndel, Alexandr (referee)
Lease of Flat - comparison of Czech and German Laws Abstract This Master's thesis deals with the legislation governing lease of a flat under the laws of the Czech Republic and of the Federal Republic of Germany. The authors of the Czech Civil Code (Act No. 89/2012 Coll., the Civil Code) drew inspiration from the German Civil Code ("Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch" of 18 August 1896, as amended on 2 January 2002) and its influence can be traced in many provisions of its Czech counterpart. The lease of a flat is a burning issue in both jurisdictions, sensitive to political changes in the country, with a strong social subtext, and great emphasis is placed on the protection of the tenant as the weaker party. Unlike the Czech legislation, the German laws on lease of a flat are more robust, more detailed, and social policy is palpable throughout the German Civil Code; this, however, attracts criticism from its opponents at times. Since the laws on lease of a flat are abundant and the thesis is written from the viewpoint of two jurisdictions, the thesis does not provide a comprehensive overview of the topic, but rather focuses on one component, specifically the rent and other payments. The rent and other payments constitute a very dynamic as well as controversial area of the German laws governing the lease of a flat; it...
Comparison of the Position of the President in the Political System of the Weimar Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany
Krautová, Tereza Rozalie ; Jeřábek, Martin (advisor) ; Brunclík, Miloš (referee)
The thesis addresses the comparison of the position of presidents in the political system of the Weimar Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany. With the adoption of the Basic Law in 1949, the Federal Republic of Germany built the presidency on a completely new foundation. The main goal of this work is to find out why the role of the president in the political system of Germany is only representative. A comparative case study is used in this work. The position of the presidents in the Weimar Republic and Germany is viewed from several positions. The introductory chapter contains a general classification of political systems (semi-presidentialism and parliamentarism) and the position of the president in these political systems. The following chapter deals with the historical context, specifically the establishment of presidential offices in both countries. The key chapters of the thesis are focused on the role of the presidents of the Weimar Republic and BRD from a constitutional point of view and later from a practical point of view. When looking for answers to a research question, it is very important to focus not only on anchoring the head of state in the constitutions of republics, but also to analyze the practice of the presidency, which may be different and move the political system in another...
