Subject Falling out of a Situation
Míka, Matyáš ; Petříček, Miroslav (advisor) ; Švec, Ondřej (referee)
This work juxtaposes Michel Foucault's late thought on the issue of the subject and Jan Císař's thought on theatre as communication. Its objective is to outline the possibility to understand individual self-care as propaedeutics to the communication with others through one's own act. What follows after explaining the positions of both authors, is an analysis of the subject's situation and the subject's act from the position of Foucault's ethics and through the event nature of theatrical communication. Since Foucault's and Císař's thought does not naturally result in an integrated theatrological/philosophical concept, the final chapter presents a possible solution of the controversial issues consisting in going beyond the two concepts discussed with the help of Friedrich Nietzsche's early texts and of Ivan Vyskočil's dialogue acting.

Art and Care of Soul in Jan Patočka
Josl, Jan ; Ševčík, Miloš (advisor) ; Zátka, Vlastimil (referee) ; Frei, Jan (referee)
Summary: This work approaches Patočka's philosophy of art from the perspective of ‚care of the soul'. The first part of work describes evolution of the ‚care of the soul' in context of Patočka's philosophy of history from he 30s up to 70s. Based on this description I recognize experience of the soul as the experience of human freedom as inseparable from the ethical and methaphysical dimensions. The second part approaches art from this perspective.Patočka's intepretations of art show that Patočka saw art not only as a manifestation of human freedom, but as reflection of human position in the world and his relation to aletheia as well. However, art stays half way between myth and philosophy due to the fact, that the movement of freedom is not as absolute in art as it is in philosophy. This is evident in expressions that art takes from the fields of our emotions and experience and thus still remains for Patočka in connection with the world and our everydayness. Therefore art represents for Patočka only limited experience of the soul. It is mostly the momentum of transcendence that is important and interesting for Patočka in art, but not the results that, no matter how deep, are still insights about the things in the world. Rilke's Novel Die Aufzeichungen des Malte Laurids Brigge in Czech Translations
Dubcová, Eliška ; Tvrdík, Milan (advisor) ; Svoboda, Tomáš (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with two translations of Rilke's novel Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge. Each translation is not only conceived as a final product, but also as a communication process, influenced by a number of cultural and socio-political factors. The thesis therefore attempts to capture changes in Rilke's reception in relation to the literary paradigm and - with regards to the political situation - to the contemporary publisher policy, because during the period of socialism Rilke's work, which was highly valued in the thirties, came back into general awareness quite slowly in connection with the gradual liberation of cultural and political situation. The goal of the thesis is to map the problems of the translations' genesis with regards to the period and cultural environment and to the translators' poetic style. Part of the thesis addresses a translatological analysis, which is the base for defining both of the translators' methods.
