Families of gifted children with ADHD

This thesis is focused on the topic of twice-exceptionality in children of school age. It deals with the specifics of gifted children with ADHD. The theoretical part defines basic concepts such as giftedness, intelligence, twice- exceptionality and ADHD. It describes the specifics of diagnostics and care of gifted children with ADHD. In the empirical part qualitative research using case study design was carried out. Parents of twice-exceptional children were chosen as respondents. Obtained data was analysed using the methods of open coding, thematic analysis and cross-case analysis. The results of research show that according to parents it is effective to implement structured environment and to use rewards as means of motivation. Parents approach caring for their children actively and responsibly. According to parents, effective communication with school is a very important aspect of their children's education. This communication happens to be problematic in some cases and some parents require teachers to use more active approach to problem solving. Family of child with Kabuki synrome

The thesis deals with the family of a child with Kabuki syndrome. In the Czech Republic, the diagnosis was established in 2010. The main objective of the thesis was to compile comprehensive information about the family of a child with Kabuki syndrome and to determine more detailed information about the functioning of this family in the areas of upbringing, experiences with the school system, and also the utilization of support by the family. The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. The theoretical part is divided into four chapters. The first chapter discusses the definition of Kabuki syndrome, the history of research on this rare condition, diagnosis, and characteristic features in individuals with Kabuki syndrome. The second chapter focuses in more detail on the clinical symptoms of Kabuki syndrome, from health issues and treatment options to levels of cognitive function. The third chapter specifies on families of children with rare diseases, and the following chapter discusses the possibilities of support for families of children with Kabuki syndrome. The empirical part consists of a research investigation focusing on a child with Kabuki syndrome, the family of the child, and the functioning of the family through semi-structured interviews and a case study.

Awareness of selected secondary school pupils about domestic violence and their experience with it

The diploma thesis deals with the awareness of high school students about domestic violence and their experiences with it. The aim of this work is to penetrate the field of domestic violence and map the knowledge of secondary school students about domestic violence and their experiences with it in everyday life. The theoretical part of the work mainly deals with domestic violence and its manifestations. Furthermore, the work focuses on the types, forms and consequences of domestic violence and on its actors. In the following chapter, the work is devoted to legislation and non-profit organizations. The last chapter is dedicated to solution methods and prevention options for secondary school students. The research part describes the results of the quantitative research, which was carried out on the basis of a questionnaire survey with pupils of a selected secondary school. Through a questionnaire survey, it was found that most of the students of the selected secondary school already have at least a basic awareness of this issue. In the knowledge part, the students of the selected high school succeeded with a success rate of 71.2%. The point of view of the employees in the children's home to a quality of life and wellbeing of their clients

This thesis focuses on the point of view of the employees in the children's home on the quality of life and wellbeing of their clients. The literature review describes theoretical knowledge related to the topic. The research part has a qualitative form, where semi- structured interviews with the educators of children's homes were carried out. In the literature review, institutional care or the functioning of children's homes is described. Furthermore, the paper elaborates on the problem of negative influences endangering the child. Such influences represent inappropriate family environment, emotional attachment disorders, inappropriate and damaging behavior towards the child (abuse, neglect), psychological deprivation or adverse childhood experiences and traumas. These negative experiences significantly affect and influence children. Specifics of children's life in a children's home are described in more detail. Lastly, the paper defines terms "quality of life" and "wellbeing" and their possible concepts, especially in connection with life in a children's home. Attitudes of preschool teachers and their experience with lesbian mother families

This master's thesis discusses the topic of preschool teachers' experience with lesbian mother families and the topic of attitudes towards same-sex parenting. The primary aim of this thesis was to map how teachers perceive, experience and practice their professional relationship with lesbian mother families. Also, the research sought to examine whether and how teachers include family diversity issues in preschools. Theoretical chapters introduce subject of attitudes towards lesbian and gay parenting and homoparental families in preschool environments. Empirical chapters present quantitative research, whose main method was a survay questionare. The research sample consisted of 70 female teachers and 3 male teachers from preschools. Experience with lesbian families was reported by half of the research sample. The results revealed that the majority of teachers perceive their experience with lesbian families as positive and their cooperation is not associated with any major difficulties. Despite teachers' mostly positive attitudes towards same-sex parenting as well as towards cooperation with these families, the issue of homoparentality in preschools is still rather invisible. Cooperation between the school and the family at the beginning of schooling of children

The thesis focuses on the issue of cooperation between schools and families at the beginning of children's school attendance. The theoretical part examines the key aspects of this cooperation. The analysis includes the role of the role of the teacher and his required competencies in the 21st century according to various publications dealing with this topis, the role of the family and the typology of family structures according to different characteristics influencing children's education, and also the child's readiness to enter school and the perception of this step as significant milestone in his life. Further, various forms of cooperation are presented, as well as programs and institutions that can support this cooperation. These include the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Czech School Inspectorate and programs Začít spolu, Rodiče vítání a Člověk v tísni. Experience of Gay families with preschool institutions

This bachelor's thesis explores the topic of gay families' experiences with female kindergarten teachers. The aim of this thesis was to explore and evaluate the perspectives of families where both parents are male on working with female kindergarten teachers and to describe the relationships and communication between gay families and the kindergarten teacher. Another aim of this study was to determine if there are any communication and relationship barriers in relation to the given specificity of the research families. The theoretical part of the thesis is an introduction to the issue of homoparental families, the relationship between the family and the kindergarten teacher, based on current research in the field of gay families and society. The empirical part of the thesis is conducted through qualitative research, the method of which was a semi-structured interview. The interviews were conducted with one parent from the paternal couple each time, and in addition, interviews were conducted with kindergarten teachers who have professional experience with a child growing up in a gay family. Mutual Help and Care in Multigenerational Families

This bachelor thesis deals with a current topic, namely mutual aid and care in families in multigenerational cohabitation. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis is devoted to the family, the ontogeny of the different developmental periods, which are important for understanding the needs of each generation. The last chapter focuses on multigenerational cohabitation. The practical part includes an evaluation of the results that were found during the research investigation. The main aim of my bachelor thesis is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of multigenerational cohabitation, and I have used qualitative research inquiry to fulfil this aim. The main research question is: "What is the impact of multigenerational cohabitationon mutual help and care?" For data collestion the techniqur of semi-structured interviews was. Choosen Communication partners were selected for the research using the snowball method. The open coding method based on semi-structured interviews was used to evaluate the qualitative data. The research work was conducted using interviews with communication partners divided by generation, which allowed for generation-specific results. From the research, strengths were identified as the transfer of experiences leading to another one, which is the deepening of interpersonal relationships. As a result, the most important strength emerged and that is the increased need for help and car. Weaknesses were identified in the research and these are mainly differences of opinion that arise due to other weaknesses which are privacy restrictions and control. The bachelor thesis can serve as an information material for families who are considering multigenerational living arrangements or are already living in such an arrangement, it can also serve as a study material for students dealing with this issue.

Homoparental Families and Social Work

Homoparental parents still do not dispose with the same rights as heteroparental families according to the current Czech legislation. Only one of the parents is legally recognized, the other is a social parent, who does not have a legally recognized relationship with the child. The institute of registered partnership has been established in the Czech Republic since 2006. However, neither its name nor its content is similar to marriage. In addition to legal obstacles, homoparental families face societal stereotypes and gender inequality. Nonetheless, according to surveys, the attitude of the Czech population is improving. However, there is a distinction between acceptance and tolerance. Futhermore, there are not many organizations and social work services focused on homoparental families or the LGBTQ+ group. This research work, employing a qualitative research strategy using the method of inquiry carried out using the semi-structured interview technique, analyzed what difficulties homoparental families face and how social work could assist them in this regard. The data obtained from interviews with nine communication partners was analysed using the grounded theory method. The need for social justice as a theory embedded in the obtained data during the process of coding. Its low level is the cause of the current legislative situation, identified as the primary challenge in the research. Additionaly, it points to the prevailing tolerant stance and gender inequality which communication partners face. Whereas the accepting environment is a fact which significantly contributes to the better life of communication partners. To increase social justice, there is a need for the development of Czech social work in a critical and political direction.
