Development of self-assessment skills of pupils in 1st and 2nd year of primary school

This graduation thesis has a theoretical and an exploratory character. The theoretical part is focused on the knowledge in the field of school evaluation and self- assessment of pupils. It defines the basic concepts, types, forms and functions of evaluation and self-assessment. The main aim is to define ways and various strategies to develop self-assessment skills of children in the beginning of primary school. The research questions and methods of investigation are formulated in the theoretical part. It presents results of long-term research about development of self- assessment skills of children from the beginning of 1st grade to the end of the first half of 2nd grade. One of the most significant parts of the research is devoted to specific strategies of the teacher, which positively affect the development of self- assessment skills of pupils, as well as involving parents in this process during a common consultation of teacher, student and parent.
Student teachers group learning activities

The dissertation thesis focuses on the topic of employing group teaching activities in the university education of teachers. The goal of the thesis is to provide complex understanding of group teaching activities as a teaching strategy useful for teacher's education, and to describe and analyze their current deployment in selected courses, specifically in specialization courses in respective fields of study and in pedagogy course. The research uses two main approaches. Case study was conducted to analyze, how group teaching activities are implemented in specialization courses at the Faculty of pedagogy of the Charles University in Prague. Action research was used in my own teaching of pedagogy course at the Theatre faculty of the Academy of performing arts in Prague. Results of both empirical inquiries point to the high significance of group teaching activities for the education of future teachers. They describe in detail factors influencing their employment, analyze their actual use in teaching and reflect on perspectives of all actors of the teaching process, both students and teachers, on group teaching activities. Abstract: This dissertation thesis deals with the evaluation of teachers in the context of the Czech educational system. The theoretical part first mapped theories related to the concepts of evaluation and teacher. The conclusions of these two chapters are then relate in the chapter Evaluation of Teachers. The second part of the thesis presents quantitative research of the situation of teacher's evaluation in the context of Czech primary schools. The description is then compared with the theoretical model of evaluation of teachers, which is the output of theoretical part. Dissertation should contribute to the implementation of systematic teacher evaluation as a tool for improving the quality of education and simultaneously to the professionalisation of teaching. Problems of novice teachers

The present thesis Problems Faced by Beginning Teachers deals with the issue of beginning teachers and their problems in their first years of teaching. The aim of this paper is to identify key problems of beginning teachers. An analysis of scientific literature and other relevant documents, questionnaires and narrative interviews with beginning teachers were used to achieve a project objective. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter focuses on the concept of a teacher and their professional development. The second chapter describes teacher training, the third one deals with a role of mentors and the fourth chapter presents some potential problems that beginning teachers might face. The problems could be divided into several different categories, for instance, teaching problems, organizational problems, material and technical problems and social problems. The fifth chapter involves empirical research in the form of questionnaires, narrative interviews and my own introspection. The respondents are beginning teachers who are in their first five years of teaching experience.

ABSTRACT: This thesis deals with the Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) which the European Union finds as a useful tool for teaching foreign languages in the 21st century. The objective of the theoretical part is to clarify the concept of CLIL and compare different interpretations and models which appears in school practice. We also focus on meta-analysis of research studies that have been undertaken in this area since 2005. The theoretical part provides insight into the history of CLIL in selected European countries including the Czech Republic. The first part concludes with a chapter on theoretical concepts which CLIL refers to and which are essential for implementation of CLIL. The aim of the empirical part is to implement CLIL into primary school teaching and describe what changes this innovation brings into practice. Innovative approaches to the assessment of pupils at primary education

In the theoretical part of the thesis we will define the term of assessment according to the literature and we will also present different types, functions and forms of assessment. The main part of the theoretical part is focused on final verbal assessment which is currently put on the same level within the educational system by the new Education Act as the traditional mark system. The development of this way of assessment since 1989 will be reflected. Advantages and disadvantages of this kind of assessment will be summed up in the thesis. Strategies which can help the teacher to collect the materials for the final verbal assessment effectively are also to be found in the thesis. Then, there will be the comparison of traditional and final verbal assessment. The form of final verbal assessment in Great Britain and in Germany will be introduced in the next part of the thesis. In the empirical part of the thesis we will examine the way of final verbal assessment in the primary schools' practice. Mentoring as a tool to support the professional development of teachers and students of teaching

Work explores the benefits of mentoring for the professional development of teachers and students of teaching. The aim is to contribute to discussions of mentoring in the Czech Republic. The theme of mentoring in our conditions is relatively new, so the work seeks to contribute to the theoretical grasp of the subject too. Research is conducted in qualitative approach using case study design. Case there is interaction between the mentor and mentee, where are defined other criteria for the selection of teachers in the role of mentor to the research sample. Used data collection methods are: questioning by interview via instruction manual, expert interviews and a questionnaire with open questions. Other methods are the video analysis, documents and focus groups. Obtained data were analyzed according to several theoretical frameworks according selected strategy seeking hits/congruence and these initial theoretical concepts were enriched with data from case analysis and compared with each other. The results show that the benefits are perceived more on mentee side and benefits are accentuated and focused on the development in the profession, mentee gain as hints, tips and advice based on experience and the development of their independent thinking within the teaching profession. New approaches to assessment of pupils at primary schools

1 Abstract A theoretical part of the thesis is focused on current changes in the basic concept of Education. An attention is paid mainly to the change of the concept of educational goals and new didactic concept of teaching. In the context of changes with regard to student's evaluation in terms of its function, content and its form, it appears that so far the normal way of evaluation (classification) does not cover all the aspects of educational processes of pupils. For these reasons, there is introduced a verbal evaluation, however, it is not entirely accepted by the general public. This thesis summarizes the two types of evaluations. It also informs about the concept of evaluation in alternative ways and approaches to other pedagogies (Montessori pedagogy, "Step by Step", "Respect and be respected") and their benefits and inspiration for the evaluation of pupils from mainstream schools. The research of the thesis presents factors influencing the manner and form of student's Evaluation in Montessori elementary school. Possibilities and boundaries of using CLIL method in Czech schools

The diploma thesis deals with an innovative method CLIL, which combines the teaching of subject matter with the teaching of a foreign language. The aim of the work is to use action research to verify the possibilities of applying CLIL in first class of chosen state primary school. The action research is a suitable tool to implement a new approach and contributes to improvement of the quality of teaching. The research is focused on the verification of different supporting strategies to create a set of functional scaffolding techniques, which help first graders to overcome the language barriers and achieve the learning objectives. The core of this thesis consists of detailed lesson plans and reflections, in which the used activities and scaffolding are analysed in terms of efficiency. The final part of the thesis includes several recommendations for practice from the perspective of the possibilities and boundaries of using CLIL method in Czech state schools. The research confirmed that the language level of pupils is not a necessary condition of teaching through CLIL and therefore it is possible to use CLIL from first class of primary school. Realization of Traffic Education in Primary School

To follow, the focus of this diploma thesis is how traffic education can be properly incorporated into the first stage of our primary school curriculum and the different possibilities how the whole subject should be taught. Theoretical part deals with traffic education as part of education and also defines the term - traffic education, the meaning and the aim of traffic education area all together with short view into traffic education concept and comparision to abroad. In this part you can also find overview of implementation and content of outputs for each grade at the first stage of primary school together with various materials which can be used in traffic education. There is prepared short functional model of traffic education lesson for each grade in accordance with RVP (framework education program) in research part. These lessons has been tried out. An important aspect of teaching model is that there is no need of speacial material and it is not time consuming. Teaching model is also commented by several teachers from various cities, types of schools and different lenth of teaching practise and supplemented by possible conection with other subjects or cross-cutting themes.
