Fortnite's communication of paid video game content and its perception by Czech gamers
Šíblová, Kateřina ; Rosenfeldová, Jana (advisor) ; Vranka, Marek (referee)
This thesis examines Czech players' perception of the promotion of paid cosmetic content on the Fortnite platform and how this perception affects their motivation to buy it. The thesis focuses on general perceptions of paid video game content promotion as well as perceptions of specific monetization strategies. The research methodology involved in-depth interviews followed by data analysis using open coding and thematic analysis. This research aimed to gain a deeper understanding of this topic. The data revealed that the majority of respondents perceived purchases on the platform positively. However, targeting children with promotional tactics and the negative impact these tactics had on gamers were perceived negatively. Specific tactics, such as the battle pass, support a creator, and trailers, were perceived solely positively, while Save the World, bundle offers, Fortnite Crew, limited-time offers, and collaboration received mixed ratings. Five factors influencing purchase motivation were identified: game engagement, aesthetics, emotions and preferences, community, and economic considerations. The research results provide new perspectives on how gamers perceive monetization tactics in the video game environment.

Chroust, Karel ; Turková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Macková, Veronika (referee)
The diploma thesis "Paid content of the Internet mutation of the sports newspaper Sport - a case study" deals with paid content on the Internet mutation of the Sports newspaper. Paid content has been booming in recent years, and more and more readers are willing to pay for quality news. The work provides a comprehensive description of the form of paid content on a narrowly specialized sports medium. The practical part consists of the main research question "What form does paid content take on a specialized medium?" In my opinion, for quality paid content, the following trinity is required to work together - content, editors, subscribers. In my thesis, I will focus on the first two areas - content and editorial. First, I will conduct a quantitative content analysis of articles that have been published in premium content. I will answer a series of secondary research questions through quantitative content analysis. This will give me enough information about the form of the content. However, since the editorial information cannot be found, I will interview them to find out what benefits this content brings them.

Paywalls and the future of journalism
Novotný, Jan ; Čermák, Miloš (advisor) ; Švelch, Jaroslav (referee)
The Master's diploma thesis examines the phenomenon of imposing paywalls on news content. By using qualitative interview research, case studies, theoretical and empirical analysis the thesis emphasizes mainly the differences between individual ways of imposing paywalls and also factors that can influence the process of implementing paywalls. Hypothesis claims that imposing paywalls on existing free content can serve as an incentive on the media market to reach a growing productivity of media enterprises in spite of a booming popularity of sharing free information. It depends whether the right business model is implemented. According to the hypothesis the right model is "metered model" that responds to the nature of the internet and implies that certain amount of content would remain free of charge. Both paid and free content spheres should have to be redefined by new ergonomy and new journalistic content.
