Escape Games as a Means of Motivation to Practice Chemical Calculations in High School

Escape games have experienced tremendous growth in the market for action group entertainment in recent years and show potential for educational use as well. The bachelor's thesis focuses on designing two didactic escape games as an innovative tool to revitalize the teaching of chemical calculations in high schools. The research section of the thesis introduces issues related to student motivation to learn, the history, and current use of games in education with an emphasis on escape games and their potential in teaching chemistry and chemical calculations. The thesis also provides an analysis of the curriculum related to chemical calculations in the educational programs of four selected high schools, which revealed considerable diversity and range of treatment of the topic of chemical calculations. The practical part of the thesis is dedicated to the design and evaluation of escape games "Night Escape from Hogwarts" and "Robotic Apocalypse". The goal of these games is not only to practice chemical calculations, which many students find challenging and difficult to understand, but also to increase their motivation to learn chemistry. The diploma thesis deals with the motivation and barriers in education of adult students at a college. The issue of motivation and barriers of selected economically active students in higher education is discussed. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part describes the basic concepts related to the topic of the diploma thesis - motivation, motivation to learn, lifelong learning, adult education, higher education, barriers in education and more. The aim of the thesis is to find out and describe what motivated and continues to motivate selected economically active adults to study at a college, to identify the barriers they feel in this education and to find out how they deal with these barriers. The thesis identifies, analyzes and describes the motivation and barriers of selected adult students in education at a selected college. As part of the empirical part of the thesis, based on its aim, research questions are set, to which answers are subsequently sought through investigation. The motivation of socially disadvantaged pupils to the education in emergency state

The thesis focuses on finding pedagogical approaches which motivate pupils from socially disadvantaged backgrounds to attend distance education. The objective of the thesis is to identify effective ways to involve pupils from socially disadvantaged backgrounds in distance education.In the theoretical part is mentioned the interaction of influences involved in the formation of the personality of the pupil from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, the influence of these factors in the education and motivation to learn is also taken into consideration. The attention is given especially to definition and identification of the term pupil from socially disadvantaged backgrounds and connected risks. It is followed by the part which deals with motivation of these pupils. The problematic of transition of pupils from socially disadvantaged backgrounds to distance education in state of emergency is also presented here. It is quantitative type of research. The method of research used were surveys, which were then used to as base to answer research questions concerning the possibilities of support and motivation of pupils from socially disadvantaged environments.
Future time perspective of gifted children

This bachelor thesis focuses on the future time perspective of gifted children. The goal of this thesis is to explain the way gifted children think about their time perspective and what their motivation connected to this phenomenon is. The children taking part in this research were children who attended the summer science camp Běstvinka. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of talent, time perspective, and motivation. The second part deals with the research, including a description of the objectives, research questions, and the methodology used. The first goal of the research concerns the time perspective, where research questions were used to find out what type of time perspective prevails in children, how far in the future these children think, and which contents their future perspective has. Another goal was to describe the motivation of gifted children, which is why the research questions focused on the type of motivation most represented at school and the motivation to participate in the summer science camp Běstvinka. Methodological Specifics of Beginner Piano Teaching of Students of Different Ages

The thesis is concerned with methodological specifics of beginner piano teaching of students at different age levels. It attempts to give a complex view of its various aspects. The thesis is subdivided into several chapters, drawing on available psychological and methodological literature, piano course books and a questionnaire survey. The first chapter focuses on a beginner piano learner as an individual undergoing a particular stage of psychological development. It explores learners' general as well as music- specific characteristics and links these characteristics to piano playing. In addition, it describes motivational tendencies prevailing at different development stages, and other factors which can substantially influence the learning process, but have not hitherto been discussed with respect to piano teaching in greater detail although a pedagogue can more easily deal with potential problems that may arise at beginner levels when thoroughly informed. Continuing Beginner Learners in Adult EFL Classes

This thesis deals with the issue of teaching continuing beginners in adult EFL classes. It focuses on the description of factors that may influence the learning stagnation among these learners, and it attempts to ascertain the extent to which these factors take effect. Consequently, the thesis aims to characterize Czech continuing beginners as an independent group of learners and to provide scientific evidence which could clarify the assumptions, underlying the continuing-beginner concept. Lastly, but importantly, the thesis also intends to instigate further research in the field. The subject was investigated from the perspective of available pedagogical, andragogcial and psychological literature. Accordingly, four major factors, which may be at the root of continuing-beginner phenomenon, were identified: a mismatch between learning and teaching styles, insufficient study motivation, hindrances to learning and learning disabilities. These four areas were further focused on in a questionnaire survey, using rating scales to determine the importance of the individual areas. The study worked with three hypotheses. Child with diagnosed syndrome of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in the learning process of basic education

The thesis deals with various approaches of primary school teachers to pupils with Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The theoretical part describes in detail the etiology of ADHD, the problems of ADHD children experienced in the learning process of primary education, as well as individual needs of ADHD students and recommended approaches of teachers to these students. It deals with possibilities of treatments. The empirical part is based on a survey performed among parents of primary school students with ADHD focusing on parents' perceptions of teachers' attitude toward pupils. Teachers' point of view and perceptions were gained through interviews. The results are summared and suggestions for thinking about it have been made in the end of the thesis.
Motivační faktory ovlivňující autoregulované učení žáků středních škol

The Bachelor thesis focuses on the motivating factors influencing self-regulated learning of secondary school students. The aim of the theoretical part is to define the following concepts: self- regulated learning, metacognition, learning motivation, intrinsic and extrinsic goals, self-efficacy, exam anxiety, attributional beliefs and task value. Theoretical part will be processed by using analysing methods followed by synthesis and possible comparison of the information acquired from the professional sources consisting mainly of monographies, magazines and collections. The aim of the practical part is to find out to what extent and level the motivating factors influencing self-regulated learning occur in the case of the specialized secondary school students. These factors are intrinsic goals, self-efficacy, attributional beliefs and task value. In order to reach the aim the questionnaire method will be used. The instrument used for the data collection is the MSLQ questionnaire adapted into Czech environment in 2015. Specialized secondary school students constitute the fact-finding complex. The results of the explorative investigation may help particular secondary school teachers to improve their work with students ‘motivation within schooling process.

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na téma nudy a motivace k učení. Jejím cílem je zmapování žákovské motivace k učení v souvislosti s nudou a flow zažívané ve škole. V teoretické části jsou přiblíženy základní oblasti poskytující teoretická východiska práce. Jejím obsahem je zejména nuda, motivace k učení a flow. V empirické části je vyhodnocen kvantitativní výzkum provedený mezi žáky gymnázia všeobecného zaměření. Využita jsou dotazníková šetření zaměřená na rysovou a situační nudu (BPS a MSBS), motivaci k učení a flow.
