Double negation of the nene- type (nenedostal, nenepatrný) in Czech
Hartmanová, Lucie ; Dittmann, Robert (advisor) ; Šimík, Radek (referee)
This bachelor thesis examines double negation in Czech expressed by repeating the negative particle ne- twice in immediate succession. For the research, we aimed to find as many examples of words with this type of double negation as possible, gathering material from selected Czech dictionaries, written language corpora, the Lexical database of humanistic and baroque Czech and the Kramerius digital library (version 5). After collecting the excerpts we conducted a quantitative analysis according to individual parts of speech, focusing furthermore on the semantics of double negation and taking into account competing means of double negation expressed by two successive negative particles. Particular attention is paid to the development of this type of negation in biblical translation where its occurrences in Old or Early Modern Czech translations have been detected. Finally, we summarized the results of the research and offered possible starting points for further research.

Navrátilová, Eva ; Bílek, Petr (advisor) ; Kaplický, Martin (referee) ; Kroča, David (referee)
Charles University Faculty of Arts Department of Czech and Comparative Literature Philology (P7310) - General and Comparative Literature (P0232D090050) Abstract (EN) Towards the Sound of Literature Examining the Inherent Voice of Literary Works Za zvukem literatury Zkoumání inherentního hlasu literárních děl Mgr. & MgA. Eva Navrátilová Prague, 2024 Supervisor: Prof. PhDr. Petr A. Bílek, CSc. The dissertation strives for a comprehensive and at the same time universal con- cept of the topic of sound and literature. It is done so in various ways and in diverse contexts. The text relies on the inseparability of the auditory perception from the reading process itself (with certain exceptions, of course), both in the sense of un- derstanding the content through its sound, and in perceiving the sound structure of the text as the reader's individual implicit and immediate interpretation of the work. The concept of sound is in the vast majority of cases specified to the phenomenon of voice and speech, i.e. sounds that are eminently human. For the sake of systematic argumentation, the dissertation is divided into three parts. The first one in a form of a "cycle" deals with basic literary-theoretical concepts such as narrator and speech of the characters, to which actual speech is added as well as the concept of...
Bottleneck identification for constraint relaxation in resource-constrained project scheduling
Nedbálek, Lukáš ; Švancara, Jiří (advisor) ; Bulín, Jakub (referee)
In modern manufacturing systems, production planners create schedules by iteratively obtaining proposed schedules and adjusting input parameters to satisfy multiple, often competing, optimization goals. The goal of this thesis is to address the problem of reduc- ing the tardiness of a particular manufacturing order in an obtained schedule, which is a practical problem commonly arising in production scheduling. We do this by identifying bottlenecks in the schedule and proposing relaxations to constraints related to the iden- tified bottlenecks. We develop two methods for this purpose, both utilizing constraint programming. The first baseline method adapts existing approaches from the literature and proposes general relaxations. The second method identifies potential improvements in relaxed versions of the problem and proposes relaxations targeting the specific man- ufacturing order. Numerical experiments show that the baseline method achieves great improvements for small costs. while the second method is more reliable in achieving improvements across various problem instances.
Germanisms in the novel The End of Punk in Helsinki by Jaroslav Rudiš
Müllerová, Michaela ; Vachková, Marie (advisor) ; Šemelík, Martin (referee)
This thesis analyzes the Germanisms in Rudiš's novel "The End of Punk in Helsinki". The aim is to describe the individual Germanisms in terms of their function in the text, their comprehensibility, and the subjective perception of their use in contemporary Czech. Subsequently, some Germanisms were also analyzed in the Czech language corpus InterCorp and SYN, whereby their frequency and the stylistic markers found in the dictionaries were verified. The analysis and the corpus research showed in most cases the correspondence of the stylistic markers found in the dictionaries with those in the novel or the corpus, as well as stylistic effects that, among others, contribute to a closer characterization of the speaker from the regional or social point of view.

The Reception of Egon Erwin Kisch in the GDR and Czechoslovakia in the 1950s and 1960s
Wybitulová, Berenika ; Zbytovský, Štěpán (advisor) ; Zelená, Alena (referee)
Egon Erwin Kisch was not only a well-known journalist and writer, but he also profiled himself as a communist. This bachelor thesis explores what the reception of his works looked like in Czechoslovakia and the GDR in the 1950s and 1960s, and how the reception in these two socialist states differed from each other. With regard to the cultural and political historical developments in the 1950s and 1960s, paratexts such as prefaces and afterwords of editions of Kisch's works, newspaper articles and newspaper references of Kisch, as well as research on Kisch and his texts are thus analyzed. Through this analysis, this thesis shows that the political situation in Czechoslovakia and the GDR significantly influenced Kisch's reception. While Kisch was celebrated in both countries in the 1950s as the ideal socialist author, in the 1960s in Czechoslovakia such perceptions changed and the previous reception of Kisch was criticized. In comparison, interest in Kisch declined in the GDR in the 1960s. This thesis thus highlights the nuances in the cultural politics of the two socialist states and demonstrates how political situations are reflected in the reception of individual authors and their works.
