Causes of Civil Wars in Sub-Saharan Africa

Annotation: The Bachelor thesis deals with the civil war causes, especially in sub-Saharan Africa. The aim of this Bachelor thesis is to identify, summarize and systematize theories of the civil war causes and find out the main factors contributing to the war eruption in the area of the sub-Saharan Africa. The thesis is divided into two parts. In the first theoretic part the term "civil war" is defined and characterized in relation to other types of wars and forms of organized violence. This is followed by the description of the most important contemporary theories explaining the causes of civil wars. The second part of this thesis is dedicated to the testing of the hypothesis dealing with the representative civil war causes in the area of sub- Saharan Africa.
Identity in biographical narrative: The case of Slovak Roms in a Czech town.

Anotation Most available studies dedicated to the identity of Roms fail to give a sutisfactory reply to some questions given by the social reality. The reason why lies in the fact that they explore the Romany identity based on culture and culture border studies. This work based on the biographical research is mapping the identity of Roms from the point of view of the participants themselves and their experience. It is focused on factors playing an imortant role when creating and reproducing the Romany identity and when giving meanings to it by its bearers themselves. The work shows that even the absence of any shared culture and social relations in the frame of the broader community it is possible to consider an etnic Romany category since it is is presented as the category not only by the Roms themselves, but by the majority society, which has a real impact on everyday live of each individual who is classified as a Rom.
Ethnicity in China - Who are the Hui and who are the Dungan?

Ethnicity in China - Who are the Hui and Who are the Dungan? The thesis has three main objectives: (1) to develop a concept appropriate for the comparison of different ethnicities, (2) to use this concept to identify differences of ethnicity in China, and (3) to analyse these differences in the cases of the Huis and the Dungans. The second section postulates the concept of ethnicity as a secondary identity, and this becomes the main theoretical and methodological frame of the work. Six primary identities and dimensions, that together form the components of ethnicity, are discussed. Policy, which is interpreted as a context of ethnicity, and (ethno)culture, understood as an expression of ethnicity, are not seen as components. The concept enables the comparison of distinct perceptions (emic) and qualitative atributes (etic) of ethnicity from six main perspectives. The third chapter is focused on ethnicity and the ethnic policies of China. The central objective is to define a Chinese official category minzu, its position in the context of European concepts of ethnicity and nation, and its comparison with the concept of nation in the Soviet tradition, which represents minzu's template. In addition, the survey provides a certain historical context related to the education of minorities in the Czech Republic before 1989, and describes the current situation in the area of multicultural education in our country. It examines how teachers should be equipped to deal with situations linked to multicultural education and what teaching methods teachers use to motivate pupils. In the practical part, it shows examples of several lessons in which teachers work with broad topics of multicultural education. It also contains an overview of several case studies based on experience. The work should contribute to a greater discussion of the subject. Transformation of the national consciousness in the identity of immigrants from the selected countries of former Yugoslavia in Denmark

The thesis is concentrated on a diaspora from the former Yugoslavian countries, a special stress is put on the new generations. There are several factors which do influence the minorities - such as impact of a family, institutional, socio-cultural and historical atributes. Another important fact is Denmark's immigration and integration policy. Nevertheless, the formation of identity and belonging is highly affected by all mentioned. The analysis is held towards the transnationalism, integration/assimilation tendencies and hybridity in the behavior of the diaspora members. It should answer some general questions about the situation of ethnical minorities from the former Yugoslavia in this part of Europe as well as it should outline the distinction of these minorities in some neigboring countries. Mutual Reflexion of Baltic States in Their Social Life after Year 1991

The bachelor thesis deals with the mutual reflection of contemporary Baltic countries. Based on the characteristics of the region like chapters from the historical development of the space, in which the Baltis states nowexist, and defining for our topic some specific cultural facts of countries, we find common and different features of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania and peoples, who inhabit it. Bachelor thesis on this scale similarities and differences indicates some of the mutual stereotypical ideas and automatic associations of Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians to the states in which they live and certain perceptions about each other and the Baltic mutuality. The bachalor thesis also touches orientation of states to other regions, or differences in the perception of proximity to other regions and nations.

The main objective of this work was to analyze the social discrimination in Peru from historical social perspective. The work is divided into two main parts: theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part we dealt with the analysis of various concepts that have been formulated by leading international organizations. In the practical part we analyze discrimination in the media such as television and in addition, we are also dedicated to social discrimination against residents of Lima is perceived today. Levels of identity of young Lusatian Sorbs

This paper focuses on identity of young Lusatian Sorbs and it's manifestation on social networks and on the Internet. Theoretical part presents various attitudes to identity to point out ambiguity of this concept. There are presented and evaluated realized researchs of Lusatian Sorbs identity. Practical part concerned with analysis of virtual data on internet and social networks to describe, how Lusatian Sorbs communicate there and how they present there their identity. The identity research is introduced in context of actual happening in Lusatia. The important sources of informations for this paper are informal interviews with Lusatian Sorbs and my own observation and fieldwork. Title: Culture of the Bulgarian minority in the Czech Republic in relation to the majority Czech population This thesis inquire into the signs of Bulgarian culture in the Czech republic, presents options and limits of its implementation in focus to interaction of Bohemian a Bulgarian cultural settings. Final discourse combines author's theoretic knowledge with empiric perception of Bulgarian community. The main emphasis of thesis is represented by overreach of cultural territory and historical contacts to contemporary reception of different ethnic minority. Importance of ethnic cultural activities support and urgency of cultural knowledge spreading are also referenced in the text below.
