The problem of language in Husserl and its reception
Gvenetadze, Zura ; Schnell, Alexander (advisor) ; Flock, Philip (referee)
The aim of the following paper is to show what problems Husserl's phenomenology poses in relation to language. At first sight, the problem of language seems irrelevant or uninteresting in Husserl's work, since the author himself never really problematized language. However, I insist that without a proper analysis of language, some key questions remain unanswered, including 1) epistemological questions such as how we can grasp something in language, 2) the nature of phenomenology itself. When natural attitudes are transformed into phenomenological ones, the question is whether or how language is transformed, and 3) the constitution of other phenomena - like ideality, history, etc. Because of the vastness of the subject, I have chosen to focus mainly on three points - 1) the influence of language on perception, 2) the nature of language itself, and 3) the ability of language to penetrate the deepest depths of subjectivity. These topics will not all be discussed in detail because it would require much more work. For this reason, I have chosen to understand Husserl's phenomenology through the background of the problem of language. This means that the whole explanation and analysis can only be understood in this context. With this approach, I was able to see new perspectives and shed new light on the...
Hospital
Vlachová, Sandra ; Písaříková, Jana (referee) ; Kvíčala, Petr (advisor)
My Bachelor's thesis is called Hospital. It contains my memories, that I written down during my hospitalization, and then brought to life on the canvas. The main theme are the painful thoughts that ran thought my mind while I was in the hospital. My thesis presents a diary record, which serves as a main source of inspiration for my paintings, as well as a technical record. The main point of my thesis is the subsequent trauma - dealing with the scars, accepting yourself. From the beginning of my studies, I have been devoted to the motifs of architecture, clean and clear colors with fine lines and geometric shapes. My work was very precise and delicate. Now I present the theme of the hospital, connecting my interest in architecture with more personal themes. My stay in the hospital, trauma, and pain. Which reminds me of the book Umlčené tělo (Murphy 2001), which contains and incredible story about the author's life before and after his illness. This book has been a great inspiration to me.

The bizarre sensation of real
Zacharová, Dominika ; Spáčilová Blažková, Kateřina (referee) ; Gravlejs, Ivars (advisor)
This work explores the subjective nature of reality. Our view of reality evolves with our surroundings and shapes our unique image of the world. Although a complete escape from reality seems unattainable, we try to look for moments in which we might slow down in an endless stream of events and phenomenons. One of these is the induction of relaxation, which acts as a temporary release from physical and mental stress, even if the actual escape is only temporary. By incorporating works into this space that carry with them a certain disturbing element, I seek to provoke an uncertainty or surprise in the viewers . The work creates situations that confront viewers with an unexpected experience in a seemingly relaxing environment. Which is induced by the appearance of the objects.
Children's perception of old age in the context of media representations
Nikodemová, Tereza ; Háša, Marek (advisor) ; Soukup, Martin (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on children's attitudes towards old age and seniors in the context of media representations. The part of the thesis that draws out the literature defines the issues of media representations, social and media construction of reality, discusses the influence of the media on children's audiences, defines old age and the position of seniors in society, and finally outlines the way seniors are presented not only in children's media. The research part of the thesis clarifies the issue of the perception of old age by children aged 9 to 11 in the context of media representations in relation to the studies already conducted. Within the framework of its own research, it explores, through individual in-depth interviews, the child participants' perceptions of the elderly, their lives and their position in society, and the role of the media in this process. The study found that children most often characterise the elderly through external features and think of them in very stereotypical ways. They see them as a homogeneous group of people with frequent health problems, who live alone, primarily meet the needs of others, obtain a lot of knowledge and are wise. Children show considerable fear of ageing aware "othering" in their views, emphasizing the ideal of youth and reflecting on...
Behavioural immune system in humans: perceptual and affective component
Slavíčková, Kateřina ; Schwambergová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Dlouhá, Daniela (referee)
This bachelor's thesis aims to summarize the available literature on the human behavioral immune system. In addition to the physical immune system, the behavioral immune system represents another defense mechanism against pathogens. It consists of a variety of psychological mechanisms that enable timely avoidance reactions to potentially risky stimuli, thereby reducing the energetic costs that would otherwise be expended in a metabolically demanding immune response. The thesis introduces the functioning of the behavioral immune system, starting with the detection of risk cues followed by an emotional response - disgust, which is considered a key mechanism leading to an avoidance reaction. Furthermore the Development of the feeling of disgust is described. The work also includes an outline of inter- individual differences in disgust.
Facial attractiveness and skin color and texture
Kolingerová, Agáta ; Pátková, Žaneta (advisor) ; Pokorný, Šimon (referee)
The main aim of this thesis is, in the form of a literature review and critical evaluation, to summarize the available findings from scientific research on the influence of skin color and texture on facial attractiveness. The first part briefly introduces some of the evolutionary perspectives on attractiveness and then the aspects primarily studied in the past that affect facial attractiveness, i.e., symmetry, averageness and sexually dimorphic features. The main section of this thesis is devoted to other important traits affecting facial attractiveness, that is, skin color and texture. Topics discussed include individual skin color traits (i.e., redness, yellowness, lightness and homogeneity of color), while this thesis tries to describe their association with actual health or physical condition. The influence of culture and gender on the perception of these traits is also included. Regarding skin texture, the topics of acne, scars, radiance and wrinkles and their effect on perceived attractiveness are discussed. Similarly to color traits, potential influences of culture and gender are also presented. Keywords attractiveness, color, texture, skin, perception, health
Perception of oncoming vehicle speed
Pršeš, Faruk ; Rak, Martin (referee) ; Bilík, Martin (advisor)
The presented master thesis deals with perception of oncoming vehicle speed. The theoretical part defines basic terminology, types, and categories of motor vehicles. Furthermore, it establishes what effects sensory perception has on estimation of vehicle speed. The practical part focuses on the examination of the measured estimations of moving vehicle where the respondents are seated and the estimations of oncoming vehicle speed according to age, gender, driver’s experience, and type of vehicle. The design, preparation and realization of the experimental measurement is in this part of the thesis. Afterwards, it is followed by an evaluation of the measured data, which gives us a better idea of how precise the witness estimations are at the traffic accident.
Pupils' perception of maps
Benešová, Eva ; Krajňáková, Lenka (advisor) ; Mísařová, Darina (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on pupils' map perception and its main objective is to characterize how sixth-grade pupils perceive visuals that resemble maps in their appearance or characteristics, or are defined as maps according to commonly used definitions. The theoretical part of the thesis explains in detail the concept of maps in foreign and Czech literature, but also in geography textbooks for the sixth grade of elementary schools. An important part of the theoretical part is also the description of mental map schemata, which were presented in detail by the American geographer A. MacEachren in his book How Maps Work. A total of 22 respondents from three elementary schools participated in the research. The selected pupils took part in approximately fifteen-minute interviews, in which they first described what they think a map is, and then decided whether the presented visuals were maps or not, providing their reasoning for their decisions. A total of 15 visuals were presented, which were selected based on the previous analysis of the literature. The results of the research showed that the used geography textbook and the teaching style of the teacher influence how pupils perceive maps. Several basic elements according to which pupils recognize maps were derived from their answers. Among the most...

Klepáčková, Kristýna ; Zicha, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Dvořáková, Michaela (referee)
The diploma thesis on the topic of Cognitive processes in the teaching of civic education at elementary school deals with how the topic of cognitive processes, especially perception and memory, is realized within the framework of civic education. Its goal is to find out under what conditions and by what methods is this topic currently being taught. The part of the thesis devoted to psychological issues focuses on the historical development of psychology, the characteristics of perception and memory. An essential part of the work is the explanation of these two key psychological concepts and at the same time introducing the main psychological disciplines, applied fields and leading representatives who dealt with these basic physiological principles. The didactic part is focused on the so-called functional psychological literacy. I will focus on the inclusion of cognitive processes in the Framework Education Program and, based on the analysis of textbooks, listening to civics lessons and interviews with teachers at primary school, I will find out how and by what methods the subject of these cognitive processes is currently taught. At the end of my diploma thesis, I propose methods for teaching psychology, specifically perception and memory in elementary school, thanks to which students can better...
