Media image of migrant women on the Czech news websites Aktuálně.cz and iRozhlas.cz

This bachelor thesis focuses on the media image of migrant women on the Czech news websites Aktuálně.cz and iRozhlas.cz. The current situation in Ukraine proves the relevance of the topic of the thesis, which aims to find out what image of migrant women is created by these media, which present themselves as free and independent. At the same time, these news websites are public policy actors that influence the development of migration policy in the Czech Republic. As the thesis deals with the specific characteristics, contexts and connotations in which migrant women are mentioned in relation to migrant women, the method used is a qualitative content analysis of online media articles in the time period from the beginning of 2019 to the end of 2021. The content is coded and assigned to the relevant categories, which subsequently creates a closer picture of migrant women. For example, the work finds that media coverage of refugee women in foreign settings is most frequent. Furthermore, migrant women are portrayed predominantly as victims and heroines of refugee processes. Texts are devoted to personal stories and connotations of sympathy and admiration. Coverage of mauammar gaddafi's death in selected czech and foreign daily newspapers

The Bachelor thesis "Coverage of Muammar Gaddadi's Death In Selected Czech and Foreign Daily Newspapers" deals with the complex issue of the ethics of depiction of death in newspapers. The aim of this thesis is to compare the ways in which different Czech and foreign daily newspapers covered the death of the Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi in October 2011. The theoretical part aims to explain the importance of news values, which are important factors in defining news in media, as well as it describes the ways in which death or suffering is illustrated in photography, what effects those photographs can have on the readers, why media publish such images and what are the rules for publication of pictures concerning suffering in the codes of individual media. In the second part, visual material of five Czech and five foreign media is analysed, using he content analysis for pictures related to Gaddafi's death. Selected Czech newspapers are Mladá fronta DNES, Lidové noviny, Hospodářské noviny, Právo, Pražský deník; selected foreign newspapers are USA Today, Financial Times, Le Monde, Frankurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Süddeutche Zeitung. Each case is described in detail, the most important findings are then summed up in the conclusion.

Status and activities of the intelligence services in the Czech Republic (legal aspects) My master's degree thesis attempts to analyse the status and activities of the intelligence services in the Czech Republic. Nowadays the importance of the intelligence services is steadily growing worldwide because of bigger threat of terrorists' attacks and worsening security situation in certain regions in the world. Czech intelligence services must adapt to this situation and that's why I started to investigate particular Czech legislation. I started to examine whether the Czech intelligence services are given necessary powers to fulfil their lawful duties, who governs and coordinates their activities, who controls them etc. All these questions are described and answered in the thesis. The thesis is composed of five chapters, each of them deals with different aspects of the status and activities of the intelligence services. Chapter one is more or less general, subsequent chapters are rather focused on Czech intelligence services. The first chapter is introductory. Manipulating practices in selected Czech newspapers during the elections into the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2010

This thesis deals with the manipulating practices in the political media coverage in the period before the elections to the House of Parliament of the Czech Republic in May 2010. It describes the types of communication in terms of its ability to influence and focuses on the effects of the media and its impact on the audience. It also deals with the theoretical framework of the issues of manipulating methods and techniques and their causes. It defines the function of media in terms of intentions and evaluates the current situation in the Czech Republic, including the existing control mechanisms. A part of this thesis is a comparative analysis that focuses on a detailed qualitative analysis of texts published in the dailies Mladá fronta Dnes and Právo and their comparison during the period under consideration.

The bachelor thesis "Rural section of the Bohemia newspapers up to 1850s" analyses the thematic content and news frequency from the countryside and places that the German written newspapers Bohemia published during the introduced period. In the beginning the thesis describes the historical, cultural and political connection in the Czech countries, shows the bourgeoisie life and its customs and social changes. It introduces the media area of this period. It focuses closely on progress of the Bohemia newspapers, its content, interest and activity. It focuses on the rural section of Bohemia, which started to appear in a separate section from the year 1837. The quantitative analysis of the rural section describes the gradual frequency and the changes of the medial contents depending on the political and social situation.

User-generated content and its use in digital news media Abstract This thesis deals with increasing activity of Internet users who intensively create, publish and spread their own content. Huge part of this content is related to news and interferes in the traditional field of mass media organizations, which have to put up with newly established situation. The theoretical part of text describes the development of network media and strives for ground active user participation into media discourse and historical context. Therewithal, this part introduces kinds of user-created contents, defines their characteristics and analyzes these users who are called "prosumers" or "produsers" in the Web 2.0 era. The attention is also focused on user-generated content used by news websites and citizen journalism. The second part analyzes how the foremost world news media use and benefit from user-generated content. Examined media are iReport CNN, uReport Fox News, Have Your Say BBC and France 24. The text also analyzes Czech news media, especially ČT24 news channel and main Czech news websites and offers comparison with world media. Both parts of the thesis focus on web and television news service.
Development of representation of criminality in the Czech press

This diploma thesis "Development of representation of crime in the Czech print media" deals with the way of the representation of crime in the Czech press and its development from 1995 to 2010. It found out how much space is devoted to crime, compare the representation of domestic and foreign events, find out if they are among surveyed journals some differences. It also analyzes what crime is the most highly publicized, and focuses on the personality of the perpetrator and the victim of a gender perspective. The theoretical part treat of crime and deviant behavior and discusses their possible causes. It also deals with the central sociological issues, such as social norms, social control and socialization. Also based on the findings of science that deals with crime, criminology, refers to its concept of the classification of the crime and information about the investigation of the crime, take expectation to the issue of statistical data.
Kids news - Czech television children chanel ČT: D newscat

This thesis deals with programs for children and news for children on public channel ČT: D, which broadcasts from August 2013. Individual chapters are focused on public TV in Europe, and their children's news. Children's news are set in a European context of children's shows. The thesis includes two studies, quantitative content analysis of show Zprávičky within two months - from October to November 2013, and qualitative research through in-depth interviews with ten respondents representing the target audience of channel ČT: D. Quantitative content analysis focuses on the themes of children's news, how much time is devoted to such topics, and whether the messages are really focused on their audience, the children. Qualitative analysis through in-depth interviews with respondents investigated the children's views on the agenda of news items that show watching on topics that kids want, watching the news affects daily life. Bachelor thesis TV news as a communicative means deals with the analysis of two main broadcasting corporations, Česká televize with its' news broadcast Události and TV Nova and its' Televizní noviny. The first part, theoretical, explains important terms, e.g. news, journalism style, news broadcast, news broadcast style. Practical part focuses on analysis from the different linguistic levels (morphology, lexicology, syntax, infotainment and tabloid news). The analysed days were the following: 16. 1., 17. 1. and 18. 1. 2012. The aim was to find identical features or differences. The thesis ends with the overall analysis. It also consists analysis of headlines and introductory parts of news broadcast, comparison of news broadcast from the view of length of news.
