Gender and management position from the psychological perspective

Thesis deals with gender and its influence on management position from the psychological perspective. Initially it focuses on the general definition of gender as a social category compared to the category of sex. After that it analyses existing differences among women and men and also stereotypes associated with them. In the next part it deals with the question of gender in the field of work and organizations. In the third chapter the thesis focuses on the influence of gender on the management position in several contexts. The focal point of the paper is the analysis of different leadership styles and their application by women and men. The empirical part proposes a research design focused on the differences among women and men in leadership styles in our culture. Its aim is to analyse leadership styles in small groups and satisfaction of subordinates with their superior.
Situational leadership theory and its application in the optical business in the Czech Republic

The Theory of Situational Leadership, the core of the thesis, has become nowadays one of the intensively studied area in Sociology of management. The primary goal to be accomplished here in this thesis is to examine leadership styles of leaders in the optical business in the Czech Republic and to determine if the leaders are effective when exercise leading the followers, all with regard to Blanchard's and Hersey's Situational Leadeship Theory. The main part of the thesis consists of empirical study which focuses on leaders and their ledearship styles in optical organizations as well as their effectiveness in leading team of followers. The quantitative survey tool modified by author so can be used in czech environment will be introduced in the methodological part of the thesis. The theoretical assumptions should appropriately illustrate the analytical results obtained by the research. Application of the Person-Centered Approach (PCA) principles in management

The basic objective of the theoretical part of this diploma thesis is to present Rogers' Person- centred Approach (PCA) in terms of its development, theory, basic principles and potential applications out of therapeutical context, with emphasis on leadership. The first chapter is devoted to general knowledge of the PCA and in the second chapter there is a more detailed description of possible applications of the PCA in management. The basic objective of the empirical part is to verify the relationship between main necessary conditions of PCA in people management (respectively in person-centered leadership) and employees' organizational commitment. The quantitative research in the form of correlation study has been carried out on a sample of 63 respondents, employees of various organizations in various fields. Barrett-Lennard Relationship Inventory (BLRI) and Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (OCQ) were used as research methods. The results show the significant correlation between organizational commitment and measures of empathic understanding, congruence, and level of regard expressed by managers towards employees. Analysis of Female Specific Leadership Style in Organizations Dealing with Information Technology Development

The aim of the diploma thesis „Analysis of Female Specific Leadership Style in Organizations Dealing with Information Technology Development“ is based on an analysis of working styles of man and woman lead with regard to defining the specifics of women's leadership in comparison to men. The theoretical part provides basic terms related to this topic, especially the gender, and the related stereotypes. Adequate attention is paid to the current situation in management from the women’s perspective. Empirical part documents the course of quantitative research performed in the company, when the style of leadership has been studied in accordance with the stated hypotheses. At the end the summary of the findings is discussed in the context of their potential contribution to the company's experience in the field of management and cultivation of human resources.

The effects of management/leadership styles on employee’s performance

The thesis aimed to examine the changes of the employee's performance in relation with the management styles on a selected company. The thesis includes a chapter about company organizational structures, it also focuses on the characteristics of management and leadership styles. The other part is dedicated to the work performance and factors affecting it. Questionnaires are used for the survey data collection and it is a part of the practical part. It is also necessary to identify the management style in the company. The necessary data for analysis are obtained by questionnaires and then they are used for evaluating the situation in the company and for making recommendations for improvement. The conclusion summarizes the results of the research, recommendations for improving the situation and recommendations for the future research.
Management Style and Efficiency of Work in the selected Workgroup

The thesis deals with the determination and analysis of management style in the selected work-group, employee satisfaction and identifying work efficiency. A partial goal was to divide employees to two groups according to their happiness. The first group included happy employees and the second group included unhappy employees. The next step was to identify the factors of each group that influence satisfaction of the workers the most. The theoretical part contains the theoretical knowledge of psychology and sociology with a focus on the definition of working groups, management styles and work efficiency. The practical part summarizes the author's own research, based on which the author analyzed the style of management, satisfaction of workers, with various aspects of management style and other factors, which to some extent affect their overall satisfaction, overall efficiency and effectiveness of each individual worker. Finally, the overall effectiveness of the selected group was detected.

This bachelor thesis is dealing with issue, how the leadership style influ-ence employees and its impact on general satisfaction. Using data collected by questionnaire investigation, the leadership style and its impact on employees was found. On the base of empoyees and managers responses was identified strengts and weaknesses in leadership style of the manager. Afterwards, the proposals on modification of the leadership style, which will lead to better satisfaction of the working team, was recomended.
Leadership through responsibilities

The goal of this thesis is to define leadership style called Leadership through responsibilities, show its advantages, disadvantages and offer recommendation, which should result in minimization or complete elimination of disadvantages. Introduced theoretical principle is shown on the company HUB, s.r.o. In the first chapter there are shown theories of leadership, there are introduced classical leadership styles using research of other authors and in this chapter we can also find definition of Leadership through responsibilities in the context of introduced styles of the other authors. In the second chapter we can find explanation of the term Svoboda v práci (literally -- freedom at work), its main characteristics and connection between Svoboda v práci and our examined style. In the third chapter we will introduce the company which will serve as a source of examples for putting Leadership through responsibilities into practice. We will introduce the advantages and disadvantages we found, which will be also accompanied with examples. In the final part of the thesis there are offered recommendations, how to minimize disadvantages. The data used in the research of this leadership model come from personal experience, structured interviews, in-house analyzes and membership questionnaires.
