Meaning in the Context of Existential Hagiotherapy

The aim of this thesis is to describe meaning in the context of Existential Hagiotherapy and to answer the following research question: How do hagiotherapy participants experience the existential meaning? The first chapter reflects the chosen topic for the context of social work. It draws on a discursive conception of social work and a typology of the interrelationship between spiritual and professional discourse (see appendix A.1). This thesis is based on the belief that hagiotherapy belongs to spiritually sensitive social work. The second chapter focuses on the trends of existential therapy. It points out the considerable differences between the different trends, but also the similarities that can be found between them. In particular, three specific trends are important for this thesis, namely existential psychotherapy according to I.D. Yalom, logotherapy and definitely existential hagiotherapy. The third chapter deals with the meaning of life and shows how individual philosophers see it. Firstly, the different perceptions of the so-called higher or cosmic meaning and its influence on human freedom are pointed out. Thinking in Hannah Arendt's conception

The thesis is an essayistic exploration of Hannah Arendt's thinking, with the central aim of naming the specifics of this thinker's thought, her sources of inspiration and her conception of thinking itself. The thesis attempts to clarify in what ways Arendt's way of thinking may inspire. The starting point of the thesis is her conception of the vita activa and the vita contemplativa, where the distinction between these two lives serves as a starting point for exploring the soil of the spirit. In relation to spiritual activities, the main purpose of the thesis is then to clarify the uniqueness of inquiry in Hannah Arendt's conception and to highlight the inherent nature of thought. The thesis outlines why it is important to inquire after thought itself and suggests the grounds for why Hannah Arendt acts like that. The thesis seeks to show how we are in the world through thinking and how practical reason is the defining factor in today's society. The thesis culminates in the importance of questioning in the process of education. "New" role of an object in "object art" and "art of instalation"

Submitted graduation theses offer different views of questions relating to an object (thing) in the "object art". The foundation of the "object art" brought a "new" role of an object. It does mean that the border of an art types are no more close, as well as life and art are now transparent. We can find qualitative changes in a various ways of treatment of an object. I saw these changes in according to four basic criteria: meaning, material, form and function. Another centre line of the text are overlaps of fine art and applied art, which detects common tendences in both spheres.

Figural painting in hanging picture

A content of the bachelor thesis is a theoretical reflection about possibilities of a painted depiction of a human figure and a phenomenon of a hanging picture. The theme of the figural painting is further applied to an educationally-therapeutic practice as an art activity subject for people with mental retardation. The work also contains a documentation of the author's own painting and its reflection. Meaning and Understanding in the Context of Thought of Jacques Derrida and Hans-Georg Gadamer The focus of the present study is mainly on the discussion of the process of understanding and emergence of meaning. Using the example of Gadamer's hermeneutics it becomes clear what are the limits of positive attempt to express conditions of understanding within the context of the philosophy of finitude. In spite of its undeniable benefits, hermeneutic understanding shows itself to be vulnerable towards ideology and it could be seen as suspected of hidden normativity thanks to its emphasis on agreement and coherency. Derrida's deconstruction on the other hand shows the dynamics of emergence of meaning in language, it emphasizes plurality and ambiguity in contrast towards totalizing unicity and agreement; however, due to this approach, it is unable to offer anything close to what we call the truth. In a parallel line of interpretation, philosophical- antropological approach of Ernst Cassirer standing in comparison with Heidegger's existential analytics of Dasein shows that already at the fundamental level in the process of establishment of terms and concepts and earlier our understanding is already determined to a certain extent. TITLE: Czech and Russian Phraseology with Animals in Comparison AUTHOR: Veronika Novotná DEPARTMENT: Department of Russian studies and linguodidactics SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Lenka Havelková, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: This bachelor thesis is based on phraseologisms which use names of animals. It compares Czech and Russian phraseologisms. Theoretical part of the thesis deals with the phraseology itself and concentrates on the concepts such as phraseologism, idiom, proverb, comparison, etc. Practical part of the thesis analyses concrete Czech and Russian phraseological units involving the names of animals. These phrases are compared and determined taking into account the extent of their equivalence. Synoptic charts provide the meaning and origin of the Czech and Russian phraseologisms according to specialized phraseological and etymological dictionaries. The extent of equivalence of particular phraseologisms is defined in these charts. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to compare Russian and Czech phraseologisms mainly from their content and formal points of view, and find out the extent of their equivalence. Interlingual Homonyms in Czech - Russian Comparative Frame

This bachelor thesis deals with interlingual Czech-Russian homonyms and their typology. The theoretical part of the thesis is concerned with paradigmatic relations, namely with antonymy, synonymy, polysemy and paronymy where an individual chapter devoted to the clarification and classification of homonyms and interlingual homonyms as such. The practical part consists of a dictionary of interlingual Czech-Russian homonyms. Each homonymic pair is given in a separate table in order to create a well-arranged system. The examples of sentences or collocations, which the given entries contain, are also presented in each table. The aim of the thesis is to create a dictionary of interlingual Czech-Russian homonyms which could be used as a tool in teaching Russian. It also presents a theoretical overview of interlingual homonymy with focus on Czech-Russian comparative perspective.

Conflict and blending of cultural signs in fictional world of novels by Louise Erdrich

The aim of this paper is to inspect the work of Louise Erdrich with the optics of semiotics, literary theory and cultural anthropology and to find topics related to the cultural conflict of Native American and Christian tradition. The theoretical part is devoted to the theories of the ontological definition of the fictional world, its relation to culture and its construction within a literary piece. In the practical part, we will deal with the cultural features associated with nature, religion, space and social ordering, as they are illustrated in the novels. The paper is not an anthropological material dealing with Native American culture as such. Here we perform a literary analysis and examine the anthropomorphic dimension of the unique fictional world.

Title: 'I'm not a looser that lives only in this pub.' Bar ethnography Keywords: bar, alcohol, meaning, guests, norms, students, ambivalence. Abstract: Goals: to understand the meaning of bar visits and activities that take place in bars. Method: Qualitative research using the methods of participatory observations and semi- structured interviews. Conclusions: A bar is common place in which people choose to spend their free time. It is thought of as a place full of fun, consumption, and social interaction. It forms an important part of free time activities. Alternative free time activities are commonly connected to boredom and loneliness especially by individuals without stable social circles outside of bars. Evenings in bars tend to be stereotypical, especially for frequent visitors. The stereotypical environment is a source of much ambivalence. It carries many positive effects (such as stability, certainty, security, anticipation, and known environment) but can be also perceived negatively (boredom, stagnation). A bar is in the Czech cultural context regarded as an ordinary part of life of people maturing to adulthood. Feelings of inappropriateness can arise in case of a long transition to adulthood.
