Ethics of Image Generative Artificial Intelligence in Journalism

The ethics of image generative artificial intelligence in journalism is a topic that has not yet been thoroughly explored by academics. This paper seeks to make a new contribution to the field and to lay the foundations for further research. In the theoretical section, it summarizes existing knowledge on generative artificial intelligence, contextualizes it within the overall development of artificial intelligence, and describes its penetration into communication and journalism. It reflects on the literature published to date and quotes from studies that relate to the topic. It also looks at the phenomenon of image manipulation and the spread of misinformation and, last but not least, the treatment of artificial intelligence in the context of journalistic self-regulation. The practical part then presents the actual research, which is conducted as a qualitative content analysis of three case studies depicting the dissemination of images created by artificial intelligence. These are firstly the alleged arrest of Donald Trump, secondly the artificially created photograph of the pope and thirdly the photograph databases. Source authenticity and handling of photos in the printed newspapers MF Dnes and Lidové noviny

This Bachelor's thesis examines the topic of the change of photojournalism in the area of working with sources of photographs on title pages of printed journals in relation to the current standing of media both worldwide and in the Czech Republic. Its theoretical half introduces key concepts such as gatekeeping, agenda-setting, or reporter values, which affect the selection of media content during editorial routines. It then focuses on the field of photojournalism and the phenomena that change established standards due to the rise of the internet and digitisation. It specifies how the rise of participative journalism and multiskilling can change the work of photojournalists and in the end even the process of selecting a titular photograph. Afterwards, it describes the subject of study, which are the printed journals Mladá fronta and Lidové noviny. The practical half of the thesis then uses two methods to achieve valid findings. Quantitative content analysis is used to look at a research sample of photographs from title pages of the journal in three periods - years 2000, 2010, and 2019. Sharenting from the perspective of parents and children aged 10-13

The thesis deals with the topic of sharenting through the perspective of parents and their children aged 10-13. Through the examined phenomenon, space is given to parents and children to express their own position. The research reflects the existing theoretical knowledge that defines the issue of sharenting. Using in-depth qualitative interviews, research with a parent-child dyad is elaborated. Data were analysed using a combination of thematic and conversation analysis. The main findings in this thesis show that children show trust towards their parents, but their attitude varies considerably according to the specific content and towards the subjects through whom the sharing of their own person is performed. According to children, disclosure of their information should only take place with their consent. For parents, sharenting is a new discipline about which not much information is available. Through the research it was found that there is no regular communication between parents and children on the topic being discussed. From participants' statements and the subsequent main findings of the research, it is confirmed that the issue of sharenting should be more widely known to the public. The results of this research can serve as a basis for conducting further research on sharenting.

Voice-controlled app for capturing photos and clips

The goal of this work is to create an application that solves the problems of video and photo recording while the same person is playing sports. These problems are, for example, the need to carry a remote control or the constant interruption of the activity due to manual activation. This is solvedby using voice control and keywords to trigger the taking of a photo. This paper discusses in detail how voice control can be implemented on Android operating system in Java programming language. It also includes an explanation of how to store these files and how to control hardware devices such as the camera. The thesis includes a more detailed description of two approaches to voice recognition and describes their functionality in different applications.

I thought I will pause my endless wandering for a while, but I just don´t think I really can

The bachelor's thesis entitled "I thought I will pause my endless wandering for a while, but I just don't think I really can" consists of a series of shirts with applications of patches created by screen printing technique, based on the author's photographs. The photographs are transferred onto the patches by screen printing using special inks, namely heat-sensitive and UV-responsive inks. Formally and thematically, the bachelor thesis is based on the author's previous work. The theme of the thesis is the changing perception of the world and how this perception is influenced by various external or internal factors. The colour used for the patches sewn on the inside of the shirt fabric reacts to the body temperature, the colour layer on the patches on the front side of the shirt reacts to the amount of sunlight and thus to the environment and the time of day. The selection of photographs to be printed and sewn onto the shirts is aimed at creating small wearable "galleries". By wearing the shirts, by varying bodily activity or exposure to sunlight, the viewer-participants can influence the actual form of the images in these "galleries".

Perception of Diacritical Characteristics by Students of Lower Secondary Education

The thesis focuses on visual media in science textbooks and specifically on the diacritical characteristics of animals. The theoretical part concentrates on the textbook, its function and nonverbal media. The thesis elaborate more closely on the form and function in education of illustration and photography. It also discusses the creation of biological illustrations and the work of the illustrator of the groups of animals used in the questionnaire survey. In the practical part, quantitative research through a questionnaire survey determines how students of lower secondary education perceive the diacritical characteristics of selected animals depicted through illustrations and photographs in natural textbooks.

Transformations of manipulation in Czech photography at the turn of 20th and 21st centuries

The bachelor thesis deals with the problematics, which has existed since the inception of photography and is constantly becoming more and more current - manipulation in photography. Over a brief overview of the history of photography and the development of manipulation in photography in pre - and (post-) digital production, the thesis focuses primarily on the transformations of manipulation in photography, prompted by the arrival of digital technology in the Czech Republic. The issue is demonstrated through several artists who, from the 1990 s onwards, began to work with new possibilities of manipulation in photography, thus disrupting the traditional view of this medium. In the didactic part, the work focuses on techniques of manipulation with photography that can be used in art classes, especially at the second level of primary schools and secondary schools. The practical part presents a series of author's photographs that disrupt the stereotype of everyday life by means of editing. Contemporary forms of photography in art education

This diploma thesis focuses on the utilization of contemporary photography in art education and its influence on the development of creativity and perception of art among primary and secondary school students. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the evolution of photography over the last thirty years, including definitions of new terms and directions, and introduces the most important authors of this period. In the didactic part of the work, educational programs working with contemporary photography for general high school students are designed, implemented, and evaluated. Finally, an author's portfolio reflecting trends in contemporary fine art photography is presented. The aim of the thesis is to explore various methods and strategies that enable the effective inclusion of digital and post-digital photography in art education and to analyze the benefits of this approach for the development of visual thinking and expressiveness of pupils.
