Work with gifted children at a lower secondary school in Rakovník

The aim of the bachelor's thesis called Work with gifted children at a lower secondary school in Rakovník is to analyse national and school documents related to education of gifted and exceptionally gifted children at a lower secondary school in Rakovník. The analysis of the documents revealed that the school documents correspond to the recommendations of the national documents. At the same time, the partial aim of the work in the theoretical part is to describe and identify the gifted pupil, including recommendations for the selection and description of suitable teaching methods for working with the gifted child. Using a method of qualitative interview, field research among ten teachers in the empirical part found that teachers of the selected primary school can define the concept of a gifted student and believe that they can identify a gifted student. The educators also agreed that they thought that the selected school did not sufficiently support gifted students and that the gifted student did not have the opportunity to develop their abilities, skills and other talents to the maximum in the regular classroom. Possibilities for the development of cognitively gifted pupils within the primary education

The Bachelor's thesis deals with possibilities for the development of cognitively gifted children within the primary education. It is divided into two parts, a theoretical one and a practical one. The theoretical part is focused on explaining terms which are related to the topic, characterizing cognitively gifted pupils and defining possibilities for the development of cognitively gifted pupils. The practical part comprises of a qualitative research aimed at finding out schools' and their teachers' attitude towards the education of gifted pupils and discovering what kinds of teaching methods or other strategies are used within the educational process.
Options of Selection and Development of Gifted Children at Primary School

The diploma thesis Options of Selection and Development of Gifted Children at Primary School is devided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part contains processed information about giftedness based on professional literature. I paid attention to introduction of definitions of giftedness according to various authors, but I preferred those definitions that giftedness are understood as a reason for special eduction. It also includes chapters on the basic types of giftedness, possibly specific manifestations of gifted children and options of developing gifted children at primary school. The practical part of the diploma thesis consists of empirical materiál that at first describes the options of education and development of gifted children at Primar school V Rybníčkách. Subsequently I devoted myself to the analysis of the acquired empirical materiál that i get for my praxtical pedagogical work at the primary school. In the practical part of the thesis I also included a chapter where I presented tips for activities that provede to by suiteble in practice for the development of the potential of gifted children during classes and in leisure time activities. At the end of the diploma thesis I see our activities as stiulating but not entirely ideal.

Gifted children and relationship to them

The thesis is focused on talents and methods to deal with them. The basic terms (gifts, their types, talent etc.) are explained at the beginning of the work, followed by methods of detection and recognition of individual talent, types of talent and specific groups of talented individuals. Furthermore, there are mentioned approaches in educating gifted children and ways to choose appropriate method for specific individuals. In the practical part of this thesis, these approaches and methods are judged on the basis of realistic usage and use in practice. The basis for this judgement is the evaluations of the teachers and the parents. The information acquired by research work is compared with conclusions of the theoretic part.
