Information education of children at public libraries in the Karlovy Vary region focused on pupils of the 2nd stage of primary schools (grades 6 - 9)

The subject matter of the B.A. thesis is information education of children at public libraries. Its analytical part, which is the main focus of the thesis, describes information education of pupils attending the 2nd stage of primary schools (grades 6 - 9) as it is currently provided at public libraries in the Karlovy Vary region. It also outlines further possible development in the area of information education. The aim of its theoretical part is no more than to supply the thesis with a viable framework and to introduce readers into the area of information education. It explains the basic concepts used in the field, such as information literacy and information education itself. The role of libraries in life-long education and learning is mention in the given context and competencies of a children librarian are discussed. The thesis also includes data about education of librarians in the Karlovy Vary region and gives an example of good practice in information education at Public library in Loket.

The main objective of this thesis was to investigate the relationship that the seniors have to the modern technologies, such as cell phones, computers and credit cards. The thesis and the research was approached with the aspect that these are the seniors who live in a retirement home. In recent years the issue of quality of life of seniors is becoming increasingly hot topic and work with a cell phone, a computer and the Internet can very significantly affect the lives of seniors. The goal was to determine if these visions are reflected in the lives of seniors in housing facilities and if it is possible that the respondents are interested in these technologies. Providing Access to Electronic Information Resources at Jan Palach Library CUFA

The bachelor thesis deals with providing access to electronic resources (ER) at Jan Palach Library CUFA. The theoretical part of the thesis defines term ER, describes their typology, deals with acquisition and management and introducing tools for using them. The thesis describes experiences of Jan Palach Library CUFA with providing access to ER and deals with information behavior of ER users. The aim of the thesis is to describe a situation in ER management on example of an university library on Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague. The practical part of the thesis is an user research on the method of the survey which results that situation in ER use is slowly getting better, users do not feel foreign language ER production as problem and just only small group of users attended workshop dedicated to ER, because users do not feel the need to. Environments and projects that support children's reading

The thesis deals with a support of children's reading. The work is aimed to factors and actors influencing reading education. The first part solves theoretical definition and the meaning of reading. Primarily there are explained two important terms related to the topic - reading and a reader. Further it is proceeding by attention given to different phases of reading education before and during school attendance. Primarily three environments influencing reading literacy were observed. These include family, school and public library. Furthermore, national representative projects supporting reading primarily in libraries are shortly presented at this thesis as well. The second part is focused on the Municipal Library of Prague, specifically Smichov branch and its activities. In this part are charted various programmes for children. Repeated activities for parents with children or for children alone are observed. Also, events for groups of preschool and school children are described. The important part of presented work deals with survey of cooperation between Smichov branch and local schools. The research results are to determine practical experience of teachers from these schools in activities of Smichov branch and in their cooperation with this library.
Google generation and its relationship to information

This bachelor thesis aims to analyze information needs of students born after year 1995 and find out ways they use to meet their needs. Thesis tries to answer questions which information prefers so called "Google" generation, how school and teachers first of all motivates students to searching for information. This bachelor thesis is composed from two main parts. First part occupies general determination of generation's issues and characteristic of "Google" generation. Second part devotes to research about information needs and information literacy of elementary school students. Within research is also explored function of teachers and school in issues.
Current Modern Didactic Means used in Management of schools and Education

The topic of the importance of modern didactic tools in the current conditions of pedagogical practice is considered as contemporary and often discussed. The thesis deals with the question whether the application of modern technology can streamline the work of teachers, including school management and also whether it can become one of the criteria for raising the level of education and organization development. The thesis gives an insight into the ability of school management and other education participants to accept, but also induce changes and innovations in education. It also concerns the issue of schools' open-minded thinking and providing lifelong learning to local community. The thesis attempts to find a mutual relationship between effective application of modern technology, collaboration and the impact on results of entire work. The thesis deals with the use of ICT across different types of schools. The survey should also verify the impact of didactic tools on the quality and results of education by type of school, especially those who participated in the project of Ústi nad Labem Region called Community School (elementary, secondary, special), including feedback. The output of the thesis is summarization, interpretation and completion of the data obtained.
Geographic skills of elementary and secondary school students

The ame of this thesis is a partial analysis of survey, which preceded the elaboration of thesis and was prepared by a wider team. Secondary school students and older elementary school students took a test focused on problem solving skills and information literacy abilities in geography. Specifically: searching for data in a table, comparing tables with graphs, working with maps (searching for data and information, comparing with other resources), asking questions (searching for the causes of the current state of some phenomena), analysing data from different types of resources (tables, graphs, maps), transcribing data from table to the graph, and independent thinking on the basis of the information given. Apart from the test, they also filled out a survey on their opinions about the test questions and the frequency of practicing these skills in the classroom. Their teachers filled out the analogical survey. This thesis is analysing the part of survey results and it's specifically focused on the relation between the teachers' and the students' views on the test results and the tested skills and abilities.

(in English) Diploma thesis "Municipal library in Odolena Voda as an information a cultural centre : Project" suggests possibilities of changes and expansion of library services provided by the Municipal library in Odolena Voda and suggests other activities so that it becomes in the future a modern information and cultural centre of Odolena Voda . The author briefly describes the history and current status of Odolena Voda. Another part is focused on analysis of current conditions of the Municipal Library in Odolena Voda - describes its building, the library collections, users and specifies currenly offered library services and activities in which is currently the library involved. The author also summarizes the Czech legislation related to the services of public libraries, and international standards and recommendations for public library services. In the introductory chapter several theses are formulated, regarding Italian environment in relation to Information Literacy and Information Education. Information literacy of students of private universities in the Czech Republic: case studies of selected private universities and their libraries

(in English) The thesis deals with information literacy of students of private universities in the Czech Republic and presents the results of a survey of information literacy conducted in four libraries of private universities. The introductory chapter presents a brief introduction to the topic. The second chapter then deals with private higher education and the status of academic libraries of private universities in the Czech Republic. The third chapter is devoted to information literacy and presents international definitions and standards of an information-literate university student. The current status and activities in the field of information literacy in the Czech Republic are mentioned as well. The core of the thesis consists of four case studies of academic libraries of private universities (The University of Finance and Administration, Skoda Auto University, The College of Nursing, and The Metropolitan University Prague) and the results of the survey for each of them. The conclusion summarizes the results of the survey.
