The impact of the Turkish economic crisis on Turkey's foreign policy and the Turkish-Israeli relations

This thesis aims to evaluate the impact of Turkey's economic crisis on its foreign policy and analyse the subsequent developments in the relationship between Turkey and Israel. Supporting the analysis, a theoretical framework based on Economic Realism was utilised, wherein the analytical portion of the thesis will focus first on Economic dimension of the Turkish-Israeli relationship, and later its Security dimension. The Economic Analysis section focuses mainly on the 2018 economic crisis in Turkey, and the characteristics of the Turkish economy, as well as the trade/economic relationship between Ankara and related recent regional developments. The thesis delves into the Turkish-Israeli rapprochement of 2022, combining a political analysis of recent developments with a historical study of the bilateral relationship. The security dimension of the relationship is also explored, particularly in relation to the shared concern of Iran. The thesis analyses more deeply the Turco-Iranian, as well as Israeli-Iranian rivalry in Syria and Iraq, in order to evaluate the potential Security-driven calculations in the Turkish foreign policy shift. Islamic Culture in European Animated Film

The thesis named Islamic Culture In European Animated Film analyses five selected animated feature films by European filmmakers (Persepolis, Tehran Taboo, The Breadwinner, The Swallows of Kabul and My Sunny Maad) that depict life in Islamic society. The main aim of this thesis is to examine how and through what motifs and forms is Islamic culture presented in the films. The films are analysed both in terms of narrative and stylistic devices (mise-en-scene, camera work, editing, sound). The theoretical part of the thesis is dedicated to the description of the paradigm of European and Islamic culture and their mutual cultural clashes; one chapter is also dedicated to a brief characterization of animated film and its specifics. This is followed by the methodology, where the basic premises of the analytical part are presented, and the analysis itself, which is supplemented with images from the films for a better understanding of the described phenomena. The last chapter includes an evaluation of the analysis with a summary of the most important findings arising from the analysis.

Women's Rights in the Middle East and their Perception in Czechia

Women's rights in the Islamic world are a questionable topic. Significant differences between individual countries and regions are often not taken into account and many reasons and factors that generate such conditions for women are being neglected. This presented bachelor thesis aims at presenting the status of women in the Middle East on the basis of statistical data in comparison with men. The second part intends to confront these results with the feelings and opinions of employs of Czech non-governmental organisations who visited the Middle East. The thesis presents economic rights, civil rights, political rights, education and health of women in 21 selected countries of the region, together with the interpretation of possible causes and factors limiting women's rights. The transformation of presentation of the middle east populationin post-9/11 american films

The master thesis named The Transformation of Presentation of the Middle East Population in Post-9/11 American Films aims to closely analyze eight chosen mainstream American films with the help of the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. The plot of the observed films has to be placed in the Middle East, picture terrorism or contain the Arabs or Muslims as characters. On the basis of a wide range of criteria and the final comparison, the thesis focuses on the comparison of the Hollywood movies which were created before and after the terrorist attacks in New York in 2001. The theoretical chapters are dedicated to the introduction of the social construction of reality, stereotyping and one-dimensional description of the Arabs in Hollywood films and mainly to the deep introduction of West and Islamic culture, not only from the historic but also cultural and valuable point of view. The applied methodology follows after. The detailed analysis of the chosen films is accompanied by photographs and excerpts directly from the films to help readers to understand the differences as much as possible. Geopolitical orientation of foreign policy Turkey : possibilities and perspectives

1 Abstract The aim of this thesis is to analyze the contemporary Turkish foreign policy and to determine whether it is becoming increasingly distant from the West. To answer this question, the thesis maps and analyzes the Turkish international relations with the three main geopolitical regions of the Turkish foreign policy direction: the European Union, central Asia and the Muslim world, especially the Middle East. The direction of the Turkish foreign policy is also illustrated by the empiric part of the thesis - a quantitative event data analysis of the second half of 2012. The analysis leads to the conclusions that negotiations for accession to the European Union gives the impression that Turkey is not being invited. In central Asia Turkey promotes itself in the economic and culture areas only. The contemporary Turkish foreign policy, when Turkey increasingly identifies itself with an Islamic identity, is becoming more independent and its main focus is on the Middle East region. Turkey's ambition is to represent the whole Muslim world. Despite this fact, it cannot be said that Turkey is completely breaking away from the West. On the contrary, Turkey is now closer to the West, facing the increasing influence of Iran.

The Effects of Climate Change on Migration and Its Implication on the Mediterranean World

The effects of climate change and global warming and the conversations surrounding it are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. The future predictions of the impact of climate change on the planet present daunting challenges for people around the globe, especially for the Mediterranean littoral, which has been labeled as a climate "hot spot". The paper focuses on the effects of climate change on migration patterns in the Mediterranean region to understand what a warmer future in the Mediterranean may look like to develop policies and strategies that may mitigate some of the more negative outcomes. The paper's main objective is to answer the following question; what are the links between migration patterns and climate change in the Mediterranean region? To the question, it is important to first define and place the theoretical framework firmly in the context that the paper is covering, such as the political, economic, social, environmental and demographic factors. Once these factors are defined, they are applied to real-world case studies in the form of North Africa and Syria through Black, Adger, et al.'s framework of drivers of migration through qualitative and quantitative data that comes from secondary resources. Throughout history, the relationship between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been dynamic and complex. These two Middle Eastern superpowers went from being allies to being enemies that are fighting for hegemony in the region after the Iranian Revolution. Ideological and religious reasons are usually used to explain the shift in their relationship.However,the complexity oftheirrelationship can notonly be described by them.This thesis aims to analyse changes that occurred in the relationship between Iran and Saudi Arabia through the lens of the role that leadership played in their relationship,focusing on the impact that public support has on decisions brought by leadership. Already existing literature that relates to this research is mainly focusing on democratic countries. Therefore,this thesis aims to show that public opinion is vital for the non-democratic Middle Eastern leadership of Iran and Saudi Arabia, as well. It will determine leadership decisions related to their mutual relationship, as well as relations they have with other foreign powers, such as the United States and Russia.

This diploma thesis deals with refugee situation in the Middle East countries. More attention is given to Jordan and Syria. Diploma thesis is divided into three parts. It is a theoretical, analytical and final part. The theoretical part deals with the introduction to the researched issue and the explanation of the basic terms that are associated with migration. It includes contemporary theories of migration, push and pull factors, return policy, the theory of geographical indicators, and the theory of quality of life. The analytical part analyzes the situation of the Middle East countries, then analyzes selected indicators of Jordan, Syria, Zaatari refugee camp and Rukban camp and then compares these indicators. Based on the previous analyzes, the final part includes suggestions of solutions that could lead to improvement in Jordan and Syria and in selected camps.

The Formation of coalitions against the Islamic State

In this bachelor thesis, I will be exploring the process of formation of coalitions in the context of war against Islamic State in the region of Near and Middle East. Through this analysis, I will try to test the Balance of Threat theory, conceived by Stephen Walt, whose main assumption is a severe influence of the aspect of threat on the state's coalition policy. Coalitions are important phenomena on the international scene, often being crucial for the next political development, researching them is both instructive and beneficial. In this thesis, I will firstly summarize the assumptions of the theory concerning the formation of coalitions and follow up with the analysis of all state-actors participating in my research, according to the qualities needed for successful test of the theory. Then I will explore the coalition making process that led to formation of the main coalitions against ISIS. Finally, according to the data from this analysis, I will decide whether the Balance of Threat theory is or is not valid.
