Fialová, Kateřina ; Valentová, Hana (advisor) ; Presslerová, Pavla (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the period of young adulthood, its experience, and the important topics that accompany it. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the current concept of adulthood and then mentions relevant psychological theories (E. H. Erikson; J. Marcia; D. Levinson; J. J. Arnett or O. Robinson). The practical part reports on the progress and results of a research study based on the principles of qualitative methodology. Eight individual semi-structured interviews have been conducted in the first phase. The research sample consists of a group of women and men aged 25-30, childless with a minimum education at the secondary school level. The recorded interviews were then subjected to a thematic analysis in the second phase. The result of the study is a comprehensive description of seven topics related to adulthood. Topics include a summary of the research participants' definitions of adulthood; notion of their own maturity or maturity in relation to other people. The results further reflect the familiarity and experience of the research group with the quarter-life crisis phenomenon. The Search for the Boundary of Adulthood in a Life-Cycle Perspective
Dále vstup do manželství a rodičovství.

This thesis compares certain developmental characteristics and value preferences of emerging adult university students and non-student employed young people at the age between 19-25 years in the Czech republic. According to some authors this life stage seems to be a new developmental period between adolescence and young adulthood. In comparison to the USA there has not been much research done on this topic in the Czech Republic. There are some special characteristics of this phase of life that are described in the theoretical part, and tested on a sample of Czech young people which is showed in the empirical part of this thesis. The differences of how students and non- students experience this time of life are compared. It is assumed that student life style brings different impulses than the life style of employed young people. The aim of this thesis was to test the assumption that university students show the features of emerging adulthood more plentifully than people at the same age who work. According to the results of this study the assumption was confirmed. Another focus of this thesis is the topic of value orientation among this sample of young people. Value orientation is influenced by life style and is formed especially during adolescence and young adulthood. Certain types of value...

Pánková, Barbora ; Kučera, Miloš (advisor) ; Klusák, Miroslav (referee) ; Lacinová, Lenka (referee)
The topic of this doctoral dissertation is changes and shifts in cognitive domains during the period when young adults are enrolled in university education. This period in cognitive development is marked by the concept of postformal thinking related to Piaget's theory of cognitive development. In this thesis, the main focus is on the postformal thinking operations conceptualized by Jan D. Sinnott. The theoretical part is dedicated to two main themes: higher university education period and cognitive development. The current situation of mass tertiary education in the Czech Republic is presented as well as its impact on the student structure and students themselves. This time in life during which a young adult attends university education is described through the viewpoint of developmental psychology theorists and the concept of emerging adulthood by Jeffrey J. Arnett. In the cognitive development domain, Jean Piaget's theory is mentioned and followed by a showcase of a line of thought of his successors regarding the theory of postformal development. For the purposes of research presented in this thesis, Jan D. Sinnott's Theory of Relativistic Postformal Thought was used as the basic framework. The research part of this thesis was carried out as a mixed two-part design. With this approach, a deeper...
