Physiotherapy options for children with obesity
MARTINCOVÁ, Petra
This bachelor thesis focuses on the physiotherapy of obese children. It is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part includes information about obesity, its influence on health, its diagnosis as well as etiopathogenesis, and its prevention and treatment. This part deals with obesity within the epidemic context of the 21st century, as it is predominantly called in the world. Moreover, the theoretical part discusses the financial costs that are necessary for treatment, it also opens the topic of stigmatization and normalization of obesity or shows the relation of childhood obesity with Covid-19. The theory presents us with a way to approach physiotherapy. Furthermore, we will learn about the motivation of the children, the natural age relations, kinesiotherapy for obese children, and about possible physical activities suitable for obese children. Part of the practical part is research in which I was regularly exercising with a group of obese children aged 6-11 and giving them physical homework. Then, these results were qualitatively gathered and processed based on kinesiological analyses and both entry and concluding questionnaires. This thesis aimed to optimize the children's locomotor apparatus, improve children's relationship with movement, and inform both parents and children about childhood obesity and its impact on health in adulthood. This thesis describes the importance of motivating children to do physical activities, the possibilities of physiotherapeutic interventions, and lists of suitable exercises for an obese individual. For the educative part, this bachelor thesis includes a handbook for children and their parents about childhood obesity, its risks, and possible solutions as well as an exercise unit with the description of individual exercises. This thesis can be beneficial for anyone interested in the topic of childhood obesity as well as physiotherapists, for example, serving as an inspiration for working with obese children.
Comparison of Working With the Same Topic of Structured Drama With in the Drama Lessons at the First and Second Grade of Primary School
Martincová, Petra ; Svobodová, Radmila (advisor) ; Hanyš Holemá, Irena (referee)
My dissertation concentrates on a topic of "Comparison of Working With the Same Topic of Structured Drama Within the Drama Lessons at the First and Second Grade of Primary School". It is divided into a theoretical part and a practical part. The goal of the theoretical part is to characterize and explain the basic concepts from a discipline of teaching drama, from psychology of pupils at the primary school and from a general primary education programme. In the practical part of my dissertation I give a detailed description of a process of teaching structured drama at the first and the second grade of primary school for a period of half-year term. This specific approach towards tuition was presented to the pupils of both age groups for the first time. I trained teaching drama at the primary school in Lysolaje for 6 months. Within this period I collected answers to my research questions which I evaluated in the conclusion of my dissertation.
Pharmacological treatment of sclerosis multiplex
Martincová, Petra ; Štaud, František (advisor) ; Červený, Lukáš (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology Student: Mgr. Petra Martincová Supervisor: Prof. PharmDr. František Štaud, Ph. D. Title of diploma thesis: Pharmacology treatment of multiple sclerosis Multiple sclerosis is a neurological inflammatory disease of central nervous system of an autoimmune origin with several subtypes according to different clinical courses. The main philosophy of a treatment is based on an early administration of anti-inflammatory treatment. This can delay irreversible neurodegeneration and disability of patients. In treatment of an acute symptomatic attack which may develop at any stage of disease methylprednisolone is most often administered. Long-term therapy is based on immunomodulatory drugs: interferon-β and glatiramer acetate. This treatment is intended for parenteral administration and reduces both the number of attacks and disease progression. However its effect is insufficient in most patients. For escalation of treatment some cytostatics may be used however they have many side effects. The first oral product registered in the Czech Republic is fingolimod. It is used for treatment of remitting form of multiple sclerosis and has a very good pharmaceutical effect. A new option in treatment is provided...
The Rural Teacher Jaroslav Petr and His Legacy to Contemporary Education
Martincová, Petra ; Váňová, Růžena (advisor) ; Kasper, Tomáš (referee)
The thesis seeks to introduce and systematize the work of a long-time forgotten rural teacher Jaroslav Petr (1862-1922). Today basically unknown, he once was an important figure in the pedagogic circles. Although isolated, misunderstood and boycotted by conservative colleagues as well as by then highly influential Catholic authorities, he strived for emancipation of Czech schools within the Habsburg monarchy and especially for modernization of elementary education (refusing herbartianism, promoting hands-on teaching, free school, child-centered approach and other modern concepts). Naturally, he mainly addressed rural-specific challenges. As one of the first Czech education workers he realized the important impact of environment on the development of a (child's) personality, developed so called pedagogic regionalism and accordingly is an author of an innovative model textbook called Elementary teaching for rural schools (Prvouka na škole venkovské) which is based on its principles. At the same time, Petr was alarmed by the low quality of literature written for children or chosen for children to read, and strived for improving it - he wrote numerous literary reviews, essays on how children literature should look like, proposed reading lists, edited several children's readers with special emphasis on folk...
The Placenta and Antiphospholipid Antibodies in Etiology of Recurrent Abortions
Martincová, Petra ; Andělová, Kateřina (advisor)
Antiphospholipid syndrome is characterized by arterial and venous thrombosis, recurrent pregnancy loss, and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). It is associated with antiphospholipid antibodies, which are subdivided to anti-cardiolipin antibodies, lupus anticoagulant antibodies, and antibodies against proteins. Anti-2GPI is the best known antibody against proteins. 2GPI binds to negatively charged phospholipids, like cardiolipin, phosphatidylserine, and phosphatidylinositol. Antiphospholipid antibodies influence several processes, such as hemostasis and cell and complement activation. Complement is the main mediator of tissue injury in the placenta. Initially, the classical pathway of complement activation is induced via C1, then, at the level of C3, the alternative pathway joins and amplifies the damage. It has been shown that interactions between complement anaphylatoxin C5a and its receptors play a key role in causing injury. The murine model has shown that by inhibition of the complement pathway at this level, pregnancies can be rescued. The etiology of placental injury involves three important molecules; these molecules first initiate a proinflammatory state which then allows subsequent induction of the prothrombotic state. The prothrombotic state is the best known complication of antiphospholipid...
