The role of women in democratization processes in francophone Africa
Pavlicová, Vendula ; Kváča, Vladimír (advisor) ; Knotková, Vladimíra (referee)
This thesis deals with the African women standing in their societies and attemps to find out what are their possibilities, within this standing, to participate in the current processes of democratization. It tries to identify important facts - by mapping their role in the traditional society and describing its changes during the French colonialism and after the decolonization - that determine women's current status. This serves as a basis for the research of ways in which women participate in the democratization processes that are currently under way in francophone Africa. The thesis focuses not only on their possibilities to take part in the decision-making within the elected bodies, but is also concerned with their chances to influence the politics in a less formal way. The emphasis is on the activities of women's organizations that seem to be an appropriate tool of democratization of the African society.

Discoursive re/production of inequalities in decision making: The case of Pankrácká pláň
Šamánek, Jan ; Šanderová, Jadwiga (advisor) ; Kabele, Jiří (referee)
The diploma thesis links theoretical presumptions about new inequalities that are typical for late capitalist societies and occur between groups defined by different priority of accumulation of economic capital, to an analysis of particular social environment. The author adopts radical democratic standpoint and uses the approach of critical discoursive analysis to debunk instruments of reproduction of these inequalities that are present in mass media discourse concerned with decision making about public spaces. The particular area of interest is massmedial discourse concerned with the case of development of Pankrácká pláň in Prague. The analysis shows that typical discoursive phenomena are present in analyzed articles. These phenomena help to discoursively limit the recognition of identities of groups that are not primarily oriented towards accumulation of economic capital and to advantage primarily economically oriented groups in decision making within given legal community. The author uses results of the analysis to illustrate the contrariety between the hegemony of economic reductionist discourse and requirements of society based on radical democratic deliberative principles.

Working Motivation of Nurses
FLORIÁNOVÁ, Michaela
Current status: The word motivation means to move. A motive is a factor that forces us to move ahead and meet our goals. The American Professor Frederick Herzberg dealt with motivation and compiled the motivation-hygiene theory of motivation. In this theory he focused on the satisfaction and dissatisfaction of respondents with work and the circumstances that led to those feelings. (2, 3). Subject: The aim of the research was to explore the extent to which hygiene (maintenance, external) and motivation (internal) factors affect job satisfaction of nurses. Methods: To obtain the necessary data for processing the thesis, quantitative research was used and it was conducted using a non-standardized questionnaire. Nurses and ward nurses in hospital wards in České Budějovice were involved. The theme of the questionnaire concerned the motivation and external factors according to Herzberg. The questionnaires were processed by SPSS, a non-parametric correlation test, and for evaluating the response rate a descriptive statistical function was applied. For statistical confirmation of the hypotheses was chosen 5% level of significance. Participants: In the study were included shift nurses and ward nurses in hospital wards in České Budějovice. A total of 250 questionnaires (100%) were distributed and 143 questionnaires were returned (57.2%). Nurses were contacted at the Department of Dermatology, ENT, ophthalmology, internal, surgical, rehabilitation, aftercare, ARO, children and urology wards. Results: The evaluation of the external factors of work motivation were observed in the following areas: policy and administration, relations with superiors, relationships with workers of the same level, salary, job security, personal life, working conditions and status. The results show that nurses are not satisfied with the wages (74.2%) and in their opinion, wages do not correspond with the work done (78.4%). Respondents pointed out that there are frequent conflicts within the team (52.5%) and lack of involvement in decision-making (57.4%). On the contrary, most nurses (92.3%) feel good among colleagues and say there is also a good atmosphere in the workplace (89.5%). Interpersonal relationships at work are also evaluated positively (88.8%) and the majority of nurses (93%) get along well with colleagues. The following areas were monitored within the evaluation of the motivational factors: recognition, promotion, work itself, the opportunity for personal growth and responsibility. Evaluation of the motivating factors revealed five negative areas. One of them is the stipulation of benefits given by the employer for work done above the norm; nurses responded that they do not receive these advantages (83.9%). According to the respondents, nurses do not have the opportunity for professional growth (51.1%) and promotion (74.2%). At the same time, in their opinion the occupation of a nurse is not considered prestigious (76.3%).They do not get recognition from superiors for successful or quality work (56.7%). On the contrary, a positive finding is that nurses have the option of continuing education (88.1%) and find self-fulfilment in their work (76.9%). Nurses get recognition from patients (62.2%). Conclusions and recommendations for practice: The results of the survey show that most nurses surprisingly answered both the motivation and external factors positively. The greater presence of external and motivation factors increased job satisfaction of the nurses. Their biggest problem was considered wages, which in the opinion of nurses does not correspond to the workload. The motivating factors fared best were training opportunities, good acceptation to the team and that the nurses enjoy the performed work and it suits them.

FDH method and its use by efficiency analysis
Průchová, Anna ; Dlouhý, Martin (advisor) ; Jablonský, Josef (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with evaluation of efficiency of decision making units using data envelopment analysis. The main purpose is to introduce FDH method (Free disposable hull). For easier understanding there are explained two basic DEA models (CCR and BCC) in the first part of the thesis. Then the description of FDH method follows. It contains the mathematical model and graphic visualization. The thesis also briefly describes the appropriate way of data collecting and their adjustment. In the second part there are evaluated efficiencies of lending libraries in the Czech Republic. The data set is analyzed by FDH method and results gained by CCR and BCC method are shown for comparison.

The employees satisfaction research in the XY company
Ledvinka, Martin ; Reichel, Jiří (advisor) ; Krausová, Tereza (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with job satisfaction of emploees and its sub- -aspects. These aspects are stress and stressful situations, evaluation, motivation and workplace relations. In the first part are the above aspects explained. The second part is devoted to the evolution of opinion polls, various methods of data collection and rule-making questionnaires are given here. The third part is based on the employees' satisfaction research which was conducted in one unnamed company. Dependency between age of respondents and the choice of their answer is tested here by using Chi-Square Test, Pearson's and Cramer's Coefficient. Respondents are divided into three groups according to age. Results of testing, in case of question about stress, don't confirm the hypothesis of independence. Younger emploees perceived stress less than older employees. In all other cases failed to demonstrate the dependence.

European public sphere - analysis of the media discourse
Šedivá, Lucie ; Müller, Karel (advisor) ; Faturová, Marie (referee)
The bachelor thesis is based on the assumption that the formation of a European public sphere is desirable. In order to successfully tackle problems that transcend the boundaries of nation states, a majority of votes at the transnational level is necessary . If EU decision-making is to be considered legitimate, it is necessary to create a European public sphere, that would control the policy of the EU. In the first part of the work, the thesis deals with the assumptions, forms, and conditions of the creation of a European public sphere. The work justified the view that the formation of a European public sphere is possible and the conditions of its creation are determined. In the second part of this thesis, the political news of Czech public television CT and German public television ZDF are reviewed. CT currently broadcasts more programs concerning the EU and European issues are expressed with better quality. Both CT and ZDF inform the public about what is happening in the EU from a national perspective and in their programs, they do not discuss the specifics of EU policy.

Innovation Aspects of the Electronic Toll System in the Czech Republic
Šindelářová, Jana ; Basl, Josef (advisor) ; Krsek, Libor (referee)
This thesis deals with the innovation of information system (IS) as a decision problem. The main objective of this thesis is the construction and the application of a method to select an optimal innovation variant of IS in an organisation of any scale. The designed method is based on the conception of the innovation of IS in the methodology "Multidimensional Management and Development of Information System (MMDIS)". The proposed selection method (Method of Innovation Modules based on MMDIS - MIM) is intended to serve mainly for decision-making on a strategic level. The IS structure is mapped in accordance with the MMDIS methodology. Innovation aspects are derived from two approaches: innovation aspects based on the MMDIS principles ("module of principles" - e.g. integration, flexibility, standardisation, measurability) and innovation aspects based on the IS dimensions defined in MMDIS methodology ("module of dimensions" - e.g. software, hardware, processes and functions, finances). The proposal method enforces a systematic approach to evaluation of the innovation variants, ensuring that the innovation aspects (the principles and the dimensions) are aligned with key requirements. As an example, this method is applied to an existing electronic toll system operated in the Czech Republic. Basic innovation variants of the electronic toll system are described - the microwave, the satellite and the hybrid toll system. Case studies from the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany are used for support the proposed innovation variants, as well as evaluation of variants. The principles and the dimensions form a framework for description and evaluation of the telematics, of the electronic toll and of the innovation variants of the electronic toll. The variants are compared within the framework of refined principles and dimensions, the optimal variant is proposed. The used evaluation parameters are a result of an analysis of published studies and specific toll system technical designs. The Method of Innovation Modules was constructed on the basis of MMDIS methodology and demonstrated by application in an example scenario (electronic toll). The key result of the proposed method is the comprehensive structured map of available system innovation opportunities.

Application of Operations Research in Line Planning in Urban Public Transport
Fator, Jiří ; Fábry, Jan (advisor) ; Mervart, Michal (referee)
This diploma thesis analyzes the problem of line planning in urban public transport as an object of Operations Research. It is based on the Theory of Graphs, building specific model network referring to a real existing network. Each line represents the flow through part of this network, respecting additional constraints. The goal is to optimize existing routing by decreasing the number of lines in service and making the routing easier to understand and remember. On the contrary to casual models, this one has been designed to perfectly describe a real existing network, tramway service in Prague, Czech Republic. Furthermore, no set of lines is given in advance. The flow is newly computed by optimizing software to fit the demand and the capacity of each branch. So the output should give the user a concrete route of each line in operation.
