The status of women on the labour market in Czech Republic
Skopalíková, Anna ; Chytil, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Čermáková, Klára (referee)
The bachelor thesis addresses discrimination of women on the labour market in Czech Republic. Its aim is to verify hypothesises about the existence of lower mean wages of women and about the existence of discrimination of women on the labour market in Czech Republic. Oaxaca wage differential decomposition which is introduced in the theoretical part of the thesis confirmed the existence of wage differentials between the wages of men and women on the Czech labour market, in selected regions and in selected occupational fields. This confirms the hypothesis about lower mean wages of women. Oaxaca wage differentials decomposition also confirms that the wage gap can be explained in most cases up to 18 %. The second hypothesis is confirmed only partially. The discrimination of women probably exists on the labour market but it is not possible to confirm the size of it. The unexplained component of the wage gap (based on the Oaxaca decomposition) includes besides other things the discrimination coefficient. The size of this coefficient is not possible to determine. The secondary aim of the bachelor thesis is to determine the impact of individual variables on the observed wage gaps. Factors which most often influence the wage gaps are education and age.

The specifics of management (leading) personnel selection within the Czech education system compared with the management personnel selection within a non-educational field
Strejcovská, Barbora ; Krutská, Dagmar (advisor) ; Hamerníková, Dana (referee)
My bachelor thesis deals with the difference between the selection and subsequent allocation of human resources to managing posts within the educational sphere and commercial sector. The thesis is based on longitudinal monitoring of the described differences and uses basic knowledge of personal psychology including modern psychological methods of personality typology. The thesis works with the results of an elementary empirical examination of persons within the educational, noneducational, public and private sector, based on the outputs of MBTI personality questionnaire ((Myers-Briggs Type Indicator). The aim of the thesis is not only to describe the basic differences of both approaches. It also tries to offer elementary or rather basal solution proposals as a part of the currently in progress changes within the Czech educational system, using inspiring material of the so called White Book of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. Practical use of this paper lies above all in the field of the optimalization of the use of school management human resources and that is in direct relation to schools established by the Prague City Hall.

Differences between men and women in the Czech labour market
Stroukal, Dominik ; Kadeřábková, Božena (advisor) ; Pavelka, Tomáš (referee) ; Němec, Otakar (referee)
This thesis consists of five articles that apply current world research on labor economics at the Czech Republic and confirms the significant differences between men and women in this market. It shows that gender has a significant influence on the preference on the labor market and, consequently, on employment and health. First, the thesis shows that preferences are relevant determinant of career and then we study the difference in preference of salary for men and women. Subsequently it shows that gender plays a significant role in explaining the relationship between homeownership, and unemployment, as well as unemployment and health. The first chapter was able to demonstrate that the preference for a career has a positive influence on the choice of career. The influence of higher education on prioritizing career proved to be positive and significant. Probability of a career choice is reduced by the presence of children, however, is not dependent on their number, which is contrary to the theory of preferences. The second chapter shows that Czech women prefer more non-monetary rewards than men. It has also been shown that people with university education are same in the preferences of non-monetary rewards regardless of the gender of the respondents, however, compared to the world's research, the Czech higher education increases this preference. It turned out that women prefer risk less than men. The third chapter demonstrates that although the housing market undermines labor mobility and employment in the Czech Republic at the regional level, therefore, that in regions with a higher rate of home ownership is higher unemployment, at the individual level, the owners of housing are unemployed are less likely. The estimates are significantly different for men and women. Men living in owner-occupied housing have a higher likelihood of employment than women. At regional level, however, this thesis shows that the high rate of home ownership increases unemployment for both men and women, in the long run only to women. The fourth chapter showed that men transition to homeownership reduces the likelihood of unemployment next year. For women, this relationship has proved to be insignificant. In addition, as insignificant showed the opposite relationship, the transition from unemployment to the newly acquired home ownership. The last chapter shows that the change in the working status to unemployment will increase in the future probability of worse health. Influence in less than two years, however, proved to be significant. An important conclusion is that men have a significantly stronger relationship between health and unemployment than women.

"European Identity" of a Teacher
Gröschlová, Andrea ; Walterová, Eliška (advisor) ; Chvál, Martin (referee) ; Janík, Tomáš (referee)
This work attempts to identify and analyse factors that have an effect on the identification of teachers with Europe: "European identity" of a teacher is being argued. We widely discuss actual meaning of the term "Europe" and seek an empirical approach to the "European identity" research. Correctness of the "European identity" of a teacher is not put to test; actual issue of the teacher's profession is being discussed instead. The structure of this work consists of three chapters. First of all some basic assumptions for the work need to be posted: we discuss such terms as "globalisation", "knowledge society", "educational aims" and context of "European dimension of education". The second chapter presents three interrelated parts. They are focused on the meaning of theme "teacher as a subject of research", "identity as a subject of research" and "Europe as a subject of research" . We conclude with the own meaning of the "European identity" of a teacher in the end of the second chapter. Empirical approach throughout the rest of the work is based on this conclusion. The methodological approach is derived from the character of the postulated hypothesis. We compare two independent samples. Two samples being a) teachers (teachers of basic and secondary schools in Prague) and b) random population. Based on the...

A development of the Czech secondary generel education after World War II (1945-1989)
Bauerová, Kateřina ; Koťa, Jaroslav (referee) ; Váňová, Růžena (advisor)
I will attempt to base my work on historical facts while describing the overall situation as it was perceived then. The post-war period was a time of reconstruction both in terms of economy and morals. In the education area, the renewed Republic faced a decision whether to continue the heritage of the First Republic and its experimental schools or whether to follow new trends from abroad (mainly the USSR). At that time the Communist Party already had a strong position but it is was still only one of the parties influencing the course of events in the country. The 4-year Gymnasium (secondary school) was re-established and it became a selective institution. The first attempts to unite the education system are starting to appear. Later on, prototypes of normalized schools are being founded. There is also a pressure to make schools public. The main effort is to increase the over-all expertise of the secondary school teachers. Most reforms fail due to the lack of financial resources in the post-war state. This time period may be described as the time the education system was searching for its identity. It was the time of discussion between the heritage of the First Republic and the accession of the Communist party and its aim to establish a unified education system.

Dutch dialects and the use of the Limburgian dialect
Rážová, Anna ; Van Bree, Cor (referee) ; Janssens, Guy (advisor)
The theme of this end term paper is the Dutch dialects and the use of the Limburgian dialect. The goal of this paper is to describe in theory the phenomenon 'dialect' and to understand this phenomenon better with the help of 'Research in the use of the Limburgian dialect'. The central question is connected with psychological and sociological perspectives of the dialect problem: why do people speak so much in dialect in The Netherlands and foremost in Limburg? How do Limburgians experience their language? Which advantages come with the use of dialect and does the speaker feel more closely connected with each other while using this dialect? Are higher educated people as inclined to use dialect as much as lower educated people? And in which situations do Limburgers prefer to speak dialect and when do they prefer to switch to the standard Dutch? Do women and men speak different? In the first part of the paper, the phenomenon of dialect will be lined out in general terms. The term 'dialect' will be defined and an explanation will follow how dialects differ from standard Dutch. There's also a focus on the science aspect of dialects and a focus on the dialect users themselves. Because dialect is often seen as negative, there will be a focus on the negative and the positive attitudes towards dialects. The dialect...

Upbringing and education of Jewish women in Prague
Kotková, Anna ; Sochorová, Ludmila (referee) ; Štěpánová, Irena (advisor)
This thesis - Upbringing and Education of Jewish Women in Prague - examines attendance of women of jewish nationality, religion or both, at schools (high schools and partly primary level of education) and universities in Prague. The focused group consists of persons who absolved most of their education possible in the new regime of the First Czechoslovak Republic, established in 1918. The examined period ends in 1938/9. Prague is the main area studied, however, due to lack or inaccessibility of resources broader region is included in some cases. University students of czechoslovak citizenship and some relationship to Judaism, with outside Prague hometown, are included in the studied group as well. The topic partly comprises job opportunities and other related issues, for example charity organizations supporting students in need and other organizations with some connection to education. Archive resources, statistics, essays of the period as well as memoirs and research data are analyzed. Numbers of students, their percentage in comparison to the majority and other aspects are gathered from statistics. Memoir texts and period essays are analyzed in order to find out how concepts of gender are constructed within broader society context and how the process of gender socialization in families is like.
