Inheritance of coat color in horses
Krejčová, Lucie ; Sedláková, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Hofmanová, Barbora (referee)
Genetic side of horse´s coloring is an interesting topic, which has been a subject of many researches for a long time. The DNA testing has shown that the original horses were brown or buckskin and due to changes in environmental conditions also black. During the domestication circulating more colors, quickly began, helped by human selection. The color of the coat is a quality feature and is subjected to Mendel's rules, for each color of the horses are therefore responsible genes of large effect. To most of the color is already assigned to a specific gene mutation and it is identified that the gene can find and change the phenotype. An exception is the color white, roan and tobiano, known only, that are associated with the KIT gene, dun color and leopard are currently only assigned to chromosomes ECA8 and ECA1. Mutations on genes are of different character, in the MC1R gene, MATP, PMEL17 and SLC36A1 is a change of a single base pair in a gene EDNRB is a dinucleotide mutation. ASIP gene mutation is caused by deletion of 11 nucleotide pairs and on the other hand is caused by mutations STX17 duplication 4.6 kilobytes Knowledge of gene structure and mutations is necessary for testing the color of horses at the molecular level. DNA testing is still in development, but currently it is already possible to test horses to most of the colors, which is important in the accurate identification of colors, but also in preventing the development of diseases which are associated with some genotypes. The aim of this work is to organize and unify information on various horse´s colours and the manner of their inheritance, due to the increasing interest of the people and farmers on this issue.

The hip fracture register, optimalization of hip hemiarthroplasty position
Skála - Rosenbaum, Jiří ; Bartoníček, Jan (advisor) ; Chomiak, Jiří (referee) ; Janeček, Miloš (referee)
The study examines the monocentric epidemiological data of patients with hip fractures from 1997-2007. Adult patients treated for hip fracture between the years 1997-2007 were included in the study. Retrospective statistical assessment of continually gathered data focused on epidemiology and demographics. The second part of the study was concerned on risk factors on protrusion of hemiarthroplasty into the acetabulum. The goal was to specify exact indication, proper operative technique and selection of the implant. The study involved 3 683 patients (2 678 women, 1 005 men). Patients older than 70 years accounted for 82 % of all cases. There was an increase in the number of hip fractures resulting in a significant increase in pertrochanteric fractures (AO-31A1+2) (p<0.001). The ratio of trochanteric to neck hip fractures increased from 0.99 to 1.53. Continual monitoring of patients with hip fracture offers data which allows comparisons between regions and countries. The importace of a continual increase in the number of hip fractures has its importance in macroeconomical planning in traumatology. Hemiarthroplasty was conversed to total hip arthroplasty in 12 patients in our department. The indication, time period to conversion and hemiarthroplasty position were retrospectively assessed. The direction of...

Branchial arches region and its blood vessels are extensively transformed in the embryonic development. Aim of this study is to investigate mechanisms of the branchial arches region development and to study how a morphogen Sonic hed gehog (Shh) participate on the formation and remodeling of branchial arches and their blood vessels. Influence of Shh was evaluated based on the changes caused by its inhibition in vivo. Shh function was inhibited with an anti-Shh antibody, which was produced into the embryo from the applied hybridoma cells. Shh signaling cascade was also inhibited by cyclopamine. Results show that Shh is important for dc novo format, ion of the blood vessels in the branchial arches region. Further Shh is necessary for stabilization of the vessel wall, mainly for anterior cardinal vein. Shh also alfects later vessel development and transformation, which includes i.e. fusion of the dorsal aorta, branching of the internal carotid artery and outflow tract development. Short time inhibition of Shh has minor effect on the apoptosis and proliferation activity of the branchial arches region mesenchymal cells. We assume that Shh signals directly to the blood vessels endothelial cells, as Shh receptor ptel is also expressed in endothelial cells and its signal is reduced with Shh inhibition. In studied...
